Absolutely amazing! I hate bugs, my skin was crawling just knowing they lived in the house. This worked in four days, haven’t seen one since! Thank you so very much! Edit: 2 months later no sign of any more ants 💕
I just re did my kitchen and i got sugar ants and i have no idea where they're coming from or what they are into. Im in poor health and do not want chemicals around . Perfect solution. Thank you. 😊😊😊
i saw Boric Acid at my local Dollar Tree last week and immediately thought of your video, so I thought for a $1.25 let me try it. I followed all your steps and 24 hours later, no more black ants. Great video. Thanks so much!
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I imagine though, that the crouton my be better, because it allows the ants to take bigger 'chunks' of the poison back to the colony, vs. a cotton ball, which they can only take the liquid poison.
Dude thank you so much, did this and it wiped out a whole Colony in 24 hours. The ants definitely prefer this boric acid sugar mixture to regular borax and sugar mixture, idk why, thanks again!
I'm going to try this on my alternate car this weekend. I let it sit too long in the wrong spot and have been finding little ants randomly for the past few months. Clearly, they've made a home here, somewhere.
I haven't used this mixture, but I want to try it. I use Terro. Same methodology really. Squirt some on paper and set it out. Then the key is patience. You gotta accept the ants living with you for a couple of days.
Yes, vacuuming them up will only eliminate the ants you can see and there will always be more coming. This method eliminates the colony for good until a new colony moves in then you'll have to do it again. I usually do it once a year in the spring.
Sprinkle boric acid powder under your refrigerator and stove and under any small countertop appliances like a toaster, microwave etc. Also sprinkle in the cracks and crevices of your food cupboards and the cupboards under your sinks. I used a hair dye application bottle with a spout and just ran a thin line in the cracks where the shelves attack to the back of the walls inside all my cupboards. Roaches hide in those areas and when they walk through it, it dries them out and they die. It took a few weeks for them to all die when I did it 20 years ago. Now I keep it sprinkled under my stove, fridge, and small appliances as a preventative in case I bring one home in something from the grocery store. This really does work. You just have to be patient and let it do its thing. Make sure not to put it anywhere that kids or pets can get to it.
There is the possiblity of picking up that glass & accidentally drinking it. Just better to be safe by using a container that's labeled it doesn't take much time to be safe. Just a word of safety 👍
A recipe I've seen around the internet calls for 1 tablespoon of boric acid and 8 of sugar in a cup of warm water, do you think this mix is too weak? I just made it and I am waiting for results, but I'd like your opinion.
I have never measured mine. I just use what I think will work making sure to get more sugar than boric acid, mix it up and use it. I've always had good results. I wish you the best!
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Thank you, it seems some ant types didn't like the bait enough, I used whole wheat bread, stale. And the recipe was probably too weak, I will double the boric acid amount and see what's up, perhaps change the bait also, fruit peels etc.
I don't know, you can mix the boric acid with what ever solution your ant species is attracted to and it should work as long as they consume it. Some ants like sweets and some like meat products so maybe some beef broth mixed with some boric acid? I wish you the best!
I've seen other videos where it says way more sugar than boric acid, that the acid is too bitter and ants won't eat it. Wondering if anyone can confirm for sure which is correct, way more boric acid or way more sugar?
Dude, that's honestly like... slightly hilarious... I'm not even gonna lie :P They all just feast on pure toxicity n' probably never even knew they did..They all just .. pass away at the same time... Like even if a group of them got a clue ... they still wouldn't know how to stop eating the poison..
I think it’s the most effective way to get rid of them. I use this method every spring where I live and it’s not a problem for the rest of the year. 👍🏻
Wrong ants. Likely your ants are protein/oil eaters. Take a little peanut butter and stir in a little boric acid (about 10%) until its all throughout the peanut butter (suggest creamy or remove the nut pieces first) and then “butter” the crouton … not all, if some sugar eaters arrive you want to get them too. This should catch both the protein/oil seekers and the sugar seekers.
My brothers home had an ant infestation. It was HORRIBLE. The worst I've ever seen. And no. There wasn't food, open containers etc. I legit woke up with 2 in my pants and one crawling down my forehead!! I went cross eyed and I cried lmao 😂😂😂 The property stated "Oh its just this area of the Bay area" Like its normal to have infestations of ants coming from baseboards/walls/cubbards etc. At that point I flipped out. Im sorry but no one should EVER have that problem. And NO it is NEVER just "an area" problem.

Good to hear it worked for you. This is my go to method for getting rid of ants.

Excellent, good to hear you are now ant free!
I've been using this method for years now. It works great. I use a cotton ball in place of the crouton. It actually works y'all.
Great tip!

You are so welcome!
Wow! What a smart idea! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Off to the grocery store for sugar and croutons, I have the boric acid.
THANK YOU
Excellent!
I tried the powder sugar & baking soda but it seems like the word is out with that trick ...on to the next 😊 Thank you ❤

I like the crouton idea. Will try this the next time I have an invasion.

Do you perhaps have something similar for cockroaches?
I do not have any videos about getting rid of cockroaches.

Great info Great video!!!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. Good info.

Genius idea. Trying it tomorrow
I wish you the best!
That's awesome - TY!
Glad you liked it!
How did you make the cover?
No croutons but I can let son corners of a slice of bred dry out & then soak it in your mix. Thanks.
That should work just fine.
Same question as the wasps, Will this work on Black Carpender Ants 1/2" ones?
I think you're an Angel 😇 sent from above to bless us all!!! 😂😂😂
Thank you SO much

Wow, thank you and welcome!

Thanks
Brilliant!
do you have to wait 2 days for a clear item...thank you

Interesting idea....does not work on ants that dont like sugar ...do u have a solution for protein feeding ants?
I haven't tried it with protein eating ants but I'm sure it would work. Maybe try a solution of beef or chicken broth with the Boric Acid.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 thanks...will give it a try
thanks
Thanks for stopping by!
Can you use baking soda instead to mix with the sugar?
I’ve never tried baking soda so I don’t know if it would work.
Only works if you have sugar seeking ants! If you have protein seeking ants you must use different bait!
I agree
So...ants that look the same could be seeking different food? How would I know? This is getting too complicated!
Mix it with peanut butter. Trying that now and they're all over it. Crossing my fingers it works.
Are the ants in the house because somebody literally has croutons? Because I’ll just throw them away lol
I am curious to know why you put the plastic cover over it.
I put it behind a window curtain and I con't want the crouton sticking to the curtain.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I see. Thank you.
Does this work on red fire ants??? Thank you
I don't know, you can mix the boric acid with what ever solution your ant species is attracted to and it should work as long as they consume it. Some ants like sweets and some like meat products so maybe some beef broth mixed with some boric acid? I wish you the best!
Now we need a good home-made method to get rid of red ants OUTSIDE on the lawn!!
Can you use Borax in this?
I haven’t tried Borax so I don’t know if it works or not.
I used regular 20 Mule Team Borax that you get in the laundry detergent section, and it totally worked!!!
Does this work for sugar ants?
That’s what I used it for.
Works 100%
Yes it does 👍🏻 Nice job!
Can I use borax instead of boric acid?
I've heard that borax works but I have not tried it myself.
I've seen other videos where it says way more sugar than boric acid, that the acid is too bitter and ants won't eat it. Wondering if anyone can confirm for sure which is correct, way more boric acid or way more sugar?
Maybe that is why ants go around it. I put it 7 hours ago and nothing.
Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Now that's how you get them
What if the ants are gluten free?. Maybe I should use gluten free bread?.
You don't want them to get an upset stomach

One way to find out. I have not tried it with baking soda. I wish you the best.
Is it dangerous for pets? Dogs in particular.
I don’t think so

Wow I am using traps and they have been here 22 days. My traps have boric acid in them. They are liquid.
What about the yard. We already have so many ants in the house but I noticed the yard is full of them.
Personally I would try the same method in the yard. If it works inside it will work outside too. I wish you the best.
I tried "terro" ant killer and it took months for them to disappear 😡.
water + sugar + boric acid + croutons = genius (ant killer)
It works great! Thanks for stopping by!
Ants here I come!!!
The million dollar question is. Where do they come from???
The same place humans come from...god
From the left.
is killing a sin
Hang on .. Is borax and boric acid the same thing? I just did a delightful sugar & borax solution. Lying in wait.. 😎
I've heard of people using borax with success but I haven't tried it myself. Hope it works for you.
I have used borax detergent booster with sugar and water, heated in a pot to make a syrup, and poured it on ant beds outside the house. Works well.
Did it work?
@@lifekeyz12 UPDATE: It worked the first time, but not the second. Maybe they remembered it? 🤷

I have ants in my room/baby room. Will this be safe to do with my baby in the room? She can't crawl, so she can't get into it.
