      Trogly, tried a G&G Jaguar Case for the Acoustasonic Tele and it fit really well. Believe that is what Fender uses for the Exotic Wood Version that comes with the G&G Hard Case.
      Should try and put electric Stings on the (G-B-E) high strings. Much easier for a bit of lead playing and bending, still keeping the acoustic qualities of the lower end.
      Cheers! Glad ya finally did this video.. NOW to try the Tele??

      Lack of a hard case says we think it's nice... but if it gets ruined in shipping we're not out much. If it doesn't fit in a standard case that means you're looking for an aftermarket case and to me that's kinda a deal breaker, 2 grand is a lot too invest on a guitar that you have to be extra extra careful with transporting it.

    As a someone who owns the Tele version, I can say it is absolutely worth it. My band was playing over 30 shows in a normal year; with a few acoustic shows thrown in the mix. Rather than needing to relearn your sets and all of the solos for in acoustic set, just grab one of these and throw the right set of strings on it and you’re good to go. (Acoustic strings with an unwound g string) Both myself and the other guitarist in my band have one.
    I still have my traditional acoustic (Gibson songwriter deluxe). This guitar has a place in the arsenal. It’s not for everyone and is not a replacement for any of my electrics. Both of us in the band are very happy with the purchase. If you want an acoustic that plays like an electric, this is your solution.

      I love my high end acoustics and I know that this product isn't for me but if you're making money playing an a/e this to my ear is the best sounding piezo system and 2k isn't a deal breaker for a professional musician. It definitely blows my Taylors and Gibson out of the water plugged in and it also does some neat tricks.

    • @collecter3456

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People comparing them to actual acoustics are missing the point entirely. It's like looking at a review of a normal strat and going "why don't you just buy a Martin". They do different things, they're aimed at different people.
      Unless you enjoy putting electric guitar pickups with a blend circuit with the piezo and electric guitar necks onto your £3000 Martin, and then chopping off half the body to make it lighter, which if you do then you're dumb

    • @jubei7259
      @jubei7259 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@duffman18 yeah, I get that. I think this is aimed at a very specific group of players. I use my old Gibson J-200 both live & in the studio for my acoustic stuff & my Gibsons & Strat onstage at gigs so I know this isn't for me but I know it wasn't aimed at me. There are enough guys now who dig that style for Fender to decide that making 'em is a good idea.

It may be that the Acoustasonic should be played through an electric (not acoustic) guitar amp. Maybe that's why the guitar sounded so good in your review. My hypothesis re: the patented soundhole: the low-pitched tones of an acoustic guitar are dominated by helmoltz resonance formed by the body cavity and the sound hole. The volume of compressible air in the body is a “spring” and the parcel of air moving in and out of the sound hole is a “mass.” By ducting the sound hole as they have, the mass of entrained air is increased, thus lowering the resonance frequency. This would give louder bass tones with the small cavity. What do you think?

It looks like there are some really fancy features in it but it seems like a combination of fancy features that end up limiting the guitar too much.
    I feel like if $2,000 is in my price range for an acoustic guitar, I'd rather use that as an opportunity to get an amazing sounding traditional, all wood, thick, etc etc instrument .

      When they eventually start making these in Mexico I’ll probably jump on it but yea for 2 grand you can get a Martin or a Taylor and never need another acoustic. Throw a Fishman Neo-D in there for an extra 50 bucks and you’re good to go if you need to amp it.

    Loved your review. I got my Acoustrasonic Strat about May 2020. I have to laugh at your comment that you never have to open up the back again. After a year and a half, my guitar developed a severe death rattle. I thought something died. Eventually I noticed that the rattle went away when I depressed the noiseless pickup. So I opened up the back and found the pickup mounting screws backed way out. Tightened them up and good to go. I don't know much about guitars or know anyone who does. So is it not uncommon for things to come loose?

    Something like this would be awesome, I think this is just he coolest guitar!
    I get really bad kinks in my neck from wearing a strap with most guitars. My current guitar weighs about 8 pounds and is still a bit much for me, also I live in a small apartment and don't always want to plug into an amp and headphones and a full acoustic would be way too loud imo.
    Plus that's my favorite fretboard i've seen, the way the lighter color splits the darker colors near the headstock is so cool!
    I just wish I were in a position to pay for something like this at this time. I hope they hold up well and I can pick a decent example in the future for a reasonable price :)

    Thanks for doing a review on this. It answered a couple of questions I have had.
    If you get a chance to review the old Stratacoustic I think you may be pleased by it. If I still had my 2001 model I would send it to you for a comparison.
    When I received it and unboxed it, it felt like a toy and I thought I would have enjoyed just setting fire to $300 instead. That changed once I began playing. Unplugged, it had sort of a banjo-like tone that was nice once you got used to it. Plugged in it sounded every inch like a Strat. Back then they were using the Fishman 4. Clean or dirty, I never had a problem with feedback. After 44 years of playing, selling and trading it's one of three guitars that caused me seller's remorse. I heard the quality went downhill in later years, but that first year of production they were the cat's original pajamas.

    It impressed me more than anticipated. I'm not sure I'd want one, but thanks to this video, I'm not sure I wouldn't, either. It occurs to me that another option for making this axe more legitimately acoustic and electric, you could swap out the first three strings for electric strings with an unwound G-string, though you would probably want to use the first three from a 10-gauge setup. You need to fill up that body with sound, so it's hard to say; it just might make the guitar better-suited for blues-type players who need bending to be a bit more plausible.

    I can't get past the Tele-acoustic and Strat-acoustic from a few years ago. I tried the new Tele version of the guitar, and to be honest, I do not believe the sound, either amplified or acoustic, is worth $1999. Acoustically speaking, it has the sound of a Backpacker guitar, and amplified there's nothing special either.
    Though I do have to admit the guitar you are reviewing does has a great looking fretboard and bridge, but that doesn't account for the $1999 price tag either, and I don't see this guitar commanding such a big price tag either.
    Oh well, to each their own.

      MoonBearBush not true. Guitars are pretty inexpensive instruments overall when compared to all instruments as a whole. The best tone woods for these are finite and a lot of care and expertise goes into making each one. Diminishing returns on sound and quality don’t really start until at least $2,000.

    I have a Taylor with an LR Baggs Anthem in it and, unless I missed this, the Acoustasonic is appears to be missing something MAJOR. The Anthem allows you to adjust the blend the mic with the pickup to control feedback. You can get a Taylor and install an Anthem for less than the Acoustasonic. Trust me, I did it. Strats are my preferred electric, but own Taylor's with both the Anthem and Expression systems. Both out perform this from what I see here and I've spent less on those 2 Taylors than the Acoustasonic costs and I play lead. This is a luxury, not a necessity, IMHO. If Fender ever makes a MIM of MIJ, I'd consider buying 1, but there are a lot more things I'd put $2K into before I'd buy an Acoustasonic. Oh, and BOTH Taylors came with hardshell cases for less than $2K combined.

  • @flappoid

    Glad you are impressed with the fingerboard aesthetics. The ebony board is made from the scraps of ebony that is used for higher quality instruments. The brown is considered inferior, even a defect in the wood, as it is softer and will wear sooner than the black. Even a "B" grade ebony board for a decent orchestral instrument is nearly 100%solid, uniform black. As for the rest of the construction quality, there are visible irregularities, even when viewing the vid in the standard youtube smaller window. But, lots of guys think nothing of spending $1100 on a guitar, so Fender will make some money. The manufacture of this guitar cost the shop a VERY small fraction of the "Discounted" retail.

    • @Luthiart
      @Luthiart 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not arguing, but there's an industry-wide push to use this "inferior" ebony in guitar manufacturing, as the current harvesting practices are not sustainable. There's no way of knowing if the wood has any light streaks in it until you cut the tree down, and the common practice up to this point has been to leave the tree to rot on the forest floor if it's not completely, or mostly black. The only thing that can be considered "inferior" about the wood is the aesthetics, and that's just a matter of opinion. Personally, I don't care for the look either, but I think after people get used to seeing it, it will begin to be regarded as cosmetically pleasing. Believe it or not, there was once a time when flame and quilt figuring was considered a "defect" in the grain and was rejected.
