The perfect blend of prog chording/rhythm using adrenaline fueled thrash metal instrumentation, Voivod is a HUGE influence on my playing. Piggy NAILED the dystopian machine sound by using using dissonant King Crimson structures and made something incredibly original. There is no other band like them! Even the passages where he plays funk sound like something from the bleak future. ...I am sooooo jealous of this generation. In the 90's video content like this was rare and expensive. We were limited to magazines, terrible tab books, (both of which only covered the most commercial crap,) or worse the 'learn metal (or blues) guitar' books that taught the same tired technique in a dry and overly confusing fashion. Now there is SO MUCH CONTENT ONLINE! TH-cam has in depth lessons and guides to playing practically any song on any instrument as well as high quality info on recording, promotion, instrument set-up, tone, DIY rig building, along with rare gems like this that shed so much light on the process used to create this awesome music! My advice to the kids of today: take full advantage of this glut of knowledge NOW before the authorities decide too much info in the hands of the people is a bad thing. Don't Laugh-Don't Doubt-It would not be the first time. History repeats itself in an endless cycle and government finds a dupe populace easier to control. Once again, THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!
That was a shooting made for TV, Snake was lip syncing and Piggy was playing over tracks already recorded, Snake recorded with a U87. Still it's great footage!!! Glen Robinson was behind the board...
Cool to see Piggy playing the guitar like that up close. Amazing guitarist. I really loved these guys in the War And Pain era when they played heavy thrash metal. They're still good now but I prefer the old Voivod style.

He is the voice for Voivod, is really charming. It really adds to the weirdness of the themes in their songs. A more technically good singer I find wouldn't work that well.

KIng Crimson robert fripp influence........Voivod was my favorite thrash metal band in the 80s, cause i like prog rock too. If you want more influences, listem ELP - take a pebble. And others prog rock bands like Gentle Giant, etc.........
Two comments - Piggy, flawless victory - RIP - Snake, uhh it seems as if you were forgetting your own lyrics - were you nervous w/the camera in your face???...granted they're tough lyrics to remember, but they're yours???
