This "popularity" thing baffles me all the time because for me, it really is something I only see on movies. Our school really focuses on studies too much, so hearing about the popular kids, or how other people can "steal" the popular kids' "throne" is all such a weird concept to me and literally something I've only ever seen in movies
Ikr. I also think its like a U.S thing. Because at my country you didn't have to be popular to be treated nicely. It's like, you're either popular because you're annoying and no one likes you. Or you are just chill and fun and everyone likes to have convos with you.But when I went to school in the U.S, the popular kids acted like the popular kids in movies. They act self-absorbed and treat the non-popular/ quiet kids like pets. They also don't have ANYTHING to do other than annoying and bullying the non-popular kids until its obvious. No hate this was just my experience, not all popular kids are bad. :)

At my old school, all the new people were practically worshipped so everyone was welcomed warmly. I thought after all those years of being nice to new kids that when I moved people would be nice to me, or at least give me a warm welcome. guess not.

Then to hear the other group that dropped the one kid like a hot potato just because they learned she had autism? My heart sank into the deepest pit of my existence. 😭😭😭
My daughter knows when people make fun of her, talk about her, etc. and has a decent understanding of relationships. If this other child was “popular”, it seems as tho they did too, so this probably hit them hard and will literally never have a clue as to why their friends ditched them, and because of the autism would not have the social capacity to discuss the reasoning behind it peer to peer. My heart breaks for this child, and I hope they were able to appropriately navigate the situation.

Like, people just comments about how unpopular and lonely they're in comment bc they think it's funny so it gives little space to people who are actually popular. You seem honest too bc you're not bragging about it. I wouldn't say I'm very popular but half of my grade mates or more know me, but I can't share much story comfortably without people accusing me for lying about these stuffs.
Well my school there also isn’t really anyone that’s popular everyone’s just got their friend groups and some are bigger than others but it’s not like theyre worshipped like omg move to the side so they can pass or whatever. You get what I mean? And I’m a very quiet person I’d only talk to few people that were in like all my class periods almost. The only time I can remember talking to someone not in my class was when a senior decided to sit with me cause I was alone so she sat with me when she saw me alone. I guess the way you explained it could’ve been the case with her or her school just genuinely was the way like she explained and with her just being normal like everyone else.
I was pretty well known in my school, at least through my grade, in elementary because I was the smart kid, but I wouldn't exactly call myself popular, especially now, since I'm about to finish middle school, which has over 300 students in it. And high school is going to probably twice as large.

At my old school the popular boys picked like one kid a year and hyped them up so much. It was annoying this one year (7th grade). But I liked it the next year cause my crush was the one being hyped up. He was new that year. Point of the story is not all popular kids are spoiled brats

My ex husband cheated on me all the time. I never blamed the girls...he was the one who spoke our vows, he was the one who felt he wanted to commit the rest of his life to me. And he was the one who enjoyed initiating it with committing adultery. I actually became friends with a few of the side chicks...one of which is who was the last straw for me, but such incredible woman and loved our son as her own. He knew what he was doing better than the girls he was cheating on me with did.
I feel bad for the elementary kid because kids can't control their bladder. The girl who's father lost the election because it wasn't her fault. The girl who slept with the popular girls boyfriend, because only she was hated on when he was the one cheating. The girl who suffered from mild-autism, again it isn't her fault. The girl who left high school, it isn't something she controls, and popularity doesn't matter anyway. I kinda feel bad for the girl who got pregnant, but at the same time it was her fault for being innapropriate, but she didn't deserve to get hated on.
There was a rebellious girl at my school who was known for her attitude. She forced a really nice guy to sleep with her and then got pregnant. She had to go to the bathroom every few minutes, she got fatter and her face got swollen, she was still popular but not liked at all. However the guy loved her very much and defended her from the bullies.

Guess my grade was not the only one where no drama ever happened... Ofc we had like different social groups like stoners, smokers, drinkers, funny ones, quiet ones, and some who were too kind and heart-warming too be one of those quiet ones who were never really noticed but at the same time too nice to be one of the funny/rebellious kids whom everybody knew🤷🏽♀️
Tbh my whole grad kinda had a boring school life... we did not really get much opportunities to live out our pupil life ( talkin‘ about festivals, dances or school trips ) everything always got cancelled😞 I am still salty about that but well-...
Everyone in my grade was chill too. We never had any popularity or love issues. Probably because the school was putting a lot of pressure on us for being the first batch of a new syllabus in school and no one had time for any drama.

When I was in first grade I was the popular kid. But when first grade ended everyone ignored me. Then I got home schooled and moved away. Now I am a complete nobody that gets made fun of all the time.

It was a grammar mistake the person who wrote the story did, so she most likely ignored it easily. She always skips over unnecessary words or says a misspelled word correctly, etc.

i used to be popular. they called me (name)'s cousin. everyone loved walking up to me to say "are you (name)'s cousin?" or "are you siblings?"
Really sad tbh because i used to be a popular kid and i hate how i got pressured to be more funnier and be good looking..anyone can be popular and when someone is like "better" than you..Your gonna be fading in the background until u fall in depression and anxiety and your ego starts to fade and the realization will hurt but when your used to it you will get more stronger..for me took 4 years to get used to it..
In my school we did have more popular groups and less popular ones depending on how cool their interests were. I was part of a group of girls that really liked reading fantasy novels and played tennis (not exactly a stereotype, but two of us had been playing since elementary school and pulled the rest of the fantasy lovers in). We once got into an argument with a group of guys from the volleyball team over who got to use the court at which times, that group had cooler hobbies and were considered popular, but the gymnastics and track and field girls that liked makeup and fashion and were more interested in boys than us and therefore considered popular sided with us and the DnD playing guys (the nerds, quite a few of them were into IT too) were also on our side. Even though we definitely were not the popular kids. The only group that got involved on the guy's side were a mixed group that was sometimes trying to make a punk rock band and sometimes just doing theater and musical stuff at the school club.
Anyway, we won that argument even though we were part of the nerds. All our arguing led to us fantasy lovers becoming part of the theater club somehow when the club got shut down for a while (no teacher for it), we switched to a tennis club outside of school about 2 years later and stopped theater again though. The most popular guy at the time was part of the theatre club because he was incredibly good as an actor. He even got a full ride studying acting at uni later.
The most popular girl was into table tennis.

I’m not popular nor am I an outcast. I’m that kid everyone knows, some bully, some are kind and stick up for me, and some are kind when needing something. I guess you can say I’m the typical introvert. I’m a bookworm, not a people person, loves my small friend group, loves my cat and staying home. I do love parties though, just not when many people go. People see me as weak yet straight A’s. Which, mind you, I’m failing all my classes with F’s. I enjoy the little attention I get, wouldn’t even trade it for popularity if I got to meet Harry. Ok, maybe not that far... I’d trade anything to meet the guy who kept me sane, money. I would never trade it for money. Hell no.

I was never popular and never wanted to be. I just never saw the appeal of being the center to attention all the time by giving into peer pressure, the latest fads, and doing things to impress fellow students. If they don't like you for the person you want to be, they aren't your real friends. For me, it's better to have one real, kind, good friend than one hundred fake snobs who don't care about you.

Me- 2020 the lockdown made people lose their popularity
I was the popular kid In my school because somehow I was good in studies....when I started declining because of some reasons ppl started hating me ....these were the people who put me on pedastal .... little did I realise the ppl who put me on pedastal were the ppl who hated me actually and wanted to see me decline....I am now very conscious of ppl who put me on pedastal, I am only friends with ppl who would go out of their way to help me and protect me.....before that I used to be friendly with everyone. Some ppl are meant to admire you only from distance, they should not be allowed to be in ur lives.

When I was on middle school, I was pretty known on the campus because of my popular senior year cousin, and I was in a popular group of friends too, (one of my friends is a pageant queen, and the other is a daughter of a teacher), and that friendship was pretty popular that other pretty popular group of friends too tried to immitate the name, but as years passed, my cousin graduated, and I got a feud with my friends too because of a boy. It ruined everything on us, and on my very last year in the campus, I lost that popularity since I broke up with them, and that squad itself disbanded. It's been almost 5 years now, but I don't think they forgave me up until now. But I guess separation of us was worth it since I don't find that friendship so intimate that it was broken just because of a boy.
LOL it was just a childhood thing for me now, but I kinda miss them.
Here's my story..
I used to live with my grandma from 2nd grade. The reason was that my father had a business in a rural area so we can't shift for a better education. Instead me and my elder sister shifted to my grandma's house which is in a city 200km away from our small town. During March 2020 I came to my home town as we always did on holidays (it was post exam vacation) and got stuck here because of lockdown. I attended online classes till Jan 2021 but then because my Asian Father thought I wasn't studying enough for a student of 8th class he got me a admission in a local school which opened in Jan only. So now I am attending my real school online and a school in my home town. Here comes the real thing, the syllabus of my real school is way harder than that of my home town's school so basically it's like I am in 5th grade again. So when I started studying here I found out that for here I am a super intelligent kid (I am actually a topper in my real school too but here I am god😂) I always had passion in dancing so within two months I am known as the most talented kid in the school and as I am quite loud and ambivert person I didn't had problem making friends. In past two months I am becoming the centre of attention for this school and TBH I never thought boys would hit on me, well.. they did. Like I never had the experience of being popular as I was always bullied and made fun of in my real school.. so this is a very nice experience.. thanks to lockdown ☺️

I've never been popular, but there was this one time I confessed to my crush. They rejected me and it became a huge thing in my class that day. Everyone in my class knew about it and I thought that was the furthest it had spread until a friend told me years later that the WHOLE SCHOOL found out! Btw, that was my second time confessing and getting rejected by my crush.
In my school if you arent friends with the "popular kids", you don't matter and you're weird to them. I'm more of a social floater but more popular than a lot of my friends..

Tbh I used to be a popular yet really friendly kid I am still friendly tho so in first grade I use to get bullied by how fat I was I was the teacher's pet on top of that then the next grade which is the second grade one time where the whole school was gathered waiting to enter their classrooms ( we had afternoon shifts which started at 12:00pm and morning shifts that ended at 12:00pm so I was in the afternoon shift ) so while waiting one of the teachers asked if anyone can sing to entertain the students while waiting and so I volunteered as I was a good singer and having a mom who used to be a vocal teacher so I sang and after school ended everyone was like we're u the girl who sang that song u sing so good everyone would gather around just to ask me those questions I would also sing to entertain the students from then on and then my bully stopped bullying me and she started being kind and I didn't be friends with her not because I didn't want her to take my spotlight it's cuz in 1 grade she one time took a sharp pencil and almost poked it onto my eye luckily she didn't do it cuz the teacher was in the class so she was aware so that's why I don't become friends with her and also cuz she seemed toxic now I am in 5th grade and I don't have any popularity I really don't care cuz popularity meant nothing and as long as I was happy with my life then I am good to go and a little fun fact I learn taekwondo from my dad even tho he isn't a taekwondo instructor so when she almost poked the pencil I had the strength to break her school ID card leaving her crying I said sorry for breaking it tho and I don't know what's up with her anymore lol I am normally given nicknames by my music teachers such as popstar and I am the music teachers pet

remember that one girl who was popular in primary school who was really chatty and happy but then you went to high school and she became really socially awkward, discovered she's bisexual, got a whole new dark aesthetic and everyone forgot she existed because the kids from the other better schools were way cooler than her so now she can be seen sitting on the wall eating lunch with her 2 friends while everyone ignores her......

Yeah same my Picture is Jungkook from BTS so everybody knows I like Kpop, anime and Powerpuff girls they actually don’t Bully for that reason I got bullied is Because people thought I was gross and disgusting and by almost the end of the year nobody talked to me, and people would make dares to hug me like I had some kind of decease it was really sad, but the thing is that the only people who bullied me where from my class room the rest of the grade didn’t know
My friend has been bullied for years during both primary and secondary school. In primary school, a big thing was the "*her name* touch". Anyway... when her dad died suddenly with cancer last year, everyone was nicer to her for a bit. Now it's back to how it always was, with people giving her looks, ignoring her and being generally hostile towards her. Now that I'm moving house a good 4 hours drive away within the next month, I hope she stays strong and doesn't lose hope.

when i moved into middle school i lost all my scare credit and now nobody is scared of me they pretty much just think im annoying (no im not in fifth grade i didn't get to middle school this year)
I was popular in the seventh grade, everyone that passed me always waved. I was friends with loads of people but I always remained isolated and there met new friends. That all changed when I switched schools and started to live with my father, I became anxious and paranoid.

Me after coming to a new school halfway through grade 5: I pretty much only have fake friends, especially this year(grade 7), and everyone thinks I’m really annoying, won’t talk to me because I like things that they don’t like, etc....

I was in elementary school then one day my teacher got mad at us for always using the bathroom in her class even tho only a few students go to the bathroom,one day there was this smart popular girl who had alot of friends gave her work to the teacher while the others where still writing(i was already done) the i saw something yellow from the floor following to her leg as she peed herself my teacher asked "why didn't you tell me you had to pee??"
"Because i thought you were gonna get mad.." as that happened i was her only real friend when here friends became toxic and talked to her alot when the exams ar coming so they can cheat out of her

My high school was similar to yours. It’s a small school so my class got along. No real bullying. There was one girl though in 6th grade they bullied relentlessly, poor girl. She moved away. After that when they all matured a bit I never saw or heard any bullying. The grades below us were repulsive, terrors though. Zero respect for anyone.
