Pioneer has always seemed to build top quality receivers. Your SX-880 is a sweet receiver but I did like the SX-850 much better, WHY?? The SX-850 offered; bass and treble turnover and tone defeat switches, low and high filters, an adapter switch, aux input, mic input, MPX filter switch, two phono inputs (one MC) and 65wpc (conservative) output and Pre/Main options. The SX-880?? Power meters and 60wpc. No contest. In 1979 I was receiver shopping and considered an SX-880, I bought a Hitachi SR-804 (google it) receiver instead. I still use it as my main amp and it works fine. It is almost 40 years old. Truly nice music choice.
