I think the problem people don't get with throw breaks is that it's not a matter of reflexes, it's a matter of how long it takes your brain to make a decision. When you first start playing, it isn't that you are not fast enough to hit the button it's that it's taking your brain too long to decide what button to hit. With experience you'll start to recognize the animation faster and making that decision way faster.
After watching this I broke through my Grand Master ceiling, and walked through to Fighter without much problems. This is the best content for Tekken 7. Thanks!
@@zacharysnyder5820 after putting more time into practice mode (learn new stuff and how it works) and nonranked player matches (to see if and how to implement new stuff into actual gameplay), it got much much easier. All of Framewhisperer's advice is gold here, but it takes some time to actually getting the advice into one owns gameplay. Great journey, good luck! By the way, Byakko now, hooray.
Thanks mate, I starting to play Tekken and learning Mishima since 7, now all my mishima in green, then I found I can always win or tie yellow and orange rank players, but always have issues in green rank. I think it because I'm getting used to the stick, and also Mishima's execution. And I play and learn other characters for the matchup, and it's just feel so easy to get a yellow rank with all others lol. Now half of my cast is green rank. I think it is time for me to bring Mishima to Yellow. And also thanks for those guides, epecially for Leo, Bob, Jack. And just watched the Gigas guide, will try Gigas tonight to the green. Hey there. I love the video. US Army Soldier here and the comment about being in Basic Training/Boot Camp is pretty spot on. In Basic Training, you are basically broken down and learn to let go of bad habits and things that you are used to going your way don't happen. I've gone from Warrior to Grand Master and back at least 3 times. Grinding through the Green Ranks really taught me about patience and having a plan. Also thanks for the Josie video. I've picked her up since launch and I'm well on my way. Thank you sir =]
IMO you are amongst the top Tekken TH-camrs right now that new players should be watching, always great content and you are very articulate. One thing that personally helped me at lower ranks was an awareness of frame traps or CH setups/fishing, both recognising when it was being done to me and I shouldn't press a button, or a doing it to other people.
First of all, I gotta give you credit for your content. I really like everything I've clicked on. You articulate yourself very well, you don't really go off on a tangent and you explain 1 thing from a couple of angles which is good. Great structure too which makes them easy to digest. You may put some folks to sleep tho haha As someone who's reached Orange ranks time ago, I watched this purely to see if your experience was similar to my own. I went through all these stages you mentioned while playing TTT2 ranked and by god is this accurate. I'm literally here to say that this vid is 100% accurate in my experience when I look back on my journey through and to orange ranks. If your "Tekken Concept" vids were around like 4/5 years ago, I'd have progressed much quicker instead of learning through trial and error in Ranked battles. Keep up the great content. Peace!
Finally made it to Vindicator using Asuka, that's after learning from many of your videos. I still can't block lows or break throws because of my bad reaction and not enough time to practice - but the game knowledge and concept I learned on this channel really allowed me to enjoy the game at a different level. Thank you and I expect this channel to grow even further.
I have to say: This was a very impressive and simple video on how to improve. I just made it to Vanquisher with Dragunov and you pretty much confirmed everything I've learned since I started 4 years ago with Tekken Tag 2. It's taken forever, but I finally made it :). What you said about the green ranks is especially true; that was the hardest, most grueling, irritationally angering point of my Tekken career, but it is also where I learned the most. The greatest advice I can give in this game is to find a friend to play with that have the same drive and motivation to improve. I learned most by playing in online practice with friends, challengers, and mentors. Friends who just enjoyed the competition, challengers to test my knowledge, and mentors who handheld me through my mistakes and building upon the fundamentals. I still make big mistakes here and there, but I'm better than I was; that's for sure. If you're having trouble and considering giving up; STICK WITH IT! I am living proof that it pays off eventually! - subbing by the way!
I just started playing a few days ago, and even though I am a scrub in the dans, I still found the video very enjoyable to watch. Also, thanks for the Kuma guide, I watched it several times already while practicing in the practice mode :)
I watched your video when i was starting playing online tekken. Now i am at warrior and i am watching it again. Hopefully ill get higher at ranks again after this. This is a really helpful video. Thanks for making it.
Just picked up Tekken 7 and am loving your videos! Kudos! also Love the way you set up this breakdown so much better than just saying "get Good" like others have said. Keep up the good work!
Congrats on the 5k,and thanks for all your help on my game. My Alisa game has improved because of your breakdowns on her Destructive stance and wall tactics. I've sent your videos to some friends as well! Keep up the good work, man.
This video is just what I need. I've owned every tekken since the first and I still don't know much about frame data and stuff like that. It's only since T7 i've started to show some interest and finding online ranked matches to be pretty hard. I've got to work on a lot of things but I don't really have the time to commit to the game these days.
Really enjoy your guides, I'm completely new to tekken. I'm 35 years old I played tekken 1 and 2 back in the arcades but never really learned anything, I was more of a sports game player now that I'm older and more patient tekken 7 really apeals to me the beauty of movement and timing watching high level players is like watching a chess match. I'm trying to get better at the game and really struggling execution has been a big problem with some characters so I've chosen Bob as my begging character and I enjoy him. I would love to pick up another character however information is very hard to find for Season 2 I would love to see you redo some of your guides for Season 2 Askua has caught my eye but every combo tutorial seems to be out of date due to changed moves. Anyway I really appreciate your time and content.
Just found your channel and I cannot thank you enough for this video. It has given me more motivation to get better. Just became a Brawler for the first time today, long way to go.
Great video! I'm new to Tekken 7 and especially online and this video is giving me direction on what to work on. Currently below teal and an Asuka crushed me repeatedly online. Seems the tips in the Green level of this video would help most for that situation. I look forward to working on fundamentals and seeing improvement overtime. Thanks again.
I picked Tekken7 three days ago. It's my first combat game since Bloody Roar in PS1, Like 18 years ago. In there days i have hit the Warrior rank, and after watching you talking about green ranks, i just got a massive ego boost. Thanks for that :) I'm ready to get destroyed by the next random guy i'll met online now 😂
Gratz on the milestone! Getting out of greens is a serious grind for me atm. Your vids have helped me and your explanations are always on point. Keep at it!
5K man... Congrats... Thank you so much for information through the time I have seen you... You are a big help to all of us n we appreciate your advice
I often visit Japan and get owned at the arcades there, so I hope thanks to you someday I will go there and finally get my own back haha. Thanks for the uploads!
Very inspiring video! I just started to play online a few days ago and just reached Green rank...But I know I'm getting demoted lol. It was a struggle to reach green rank for me, got demoted on Grandmaster. I wish to stay in Green rank consistently after playing about 500 matches and reach Yellow rank within 1000 matches. It'll be frustrating I bet. And congratz on 5k sub!
I hover between juggernaut and vanquisher right now after around 4 months of this game. I felt like it is kinda easy to do combos, but literally everything else is really hard and feels very accomplishing to learn. I have to say this game is the best pvp experience I've had yet. yes there are toxic online warriors, I actually fucked up my finger because I was really salty because of the game, and sometimes online is not that great but goddamn if any game is worth learning it is this one. you'll always learn each time you play, you feel yourself growing, getting faster and better. It is really an experience I would have missed.
Another great video. Almost motivational for me. I’ve been playing tekken since the first installation. Tekken 6 was the first time I played tekken online and it blew me away how deep the game was. However, in T7, I’m stuck in the Green Rank Grind. Today most Green Rankers have plateaued with their main characters in higher ranks, and now use secondary characters. So Green Ranks is a war zone. And yes, I going to ask again for a lee tutorial.
That is true. Lately I'm noticing that low rank players usually have a high rank main and it is getting harder. That can also mean you get more chances to learn against advanced players, so it's not all bad!
Agreed, green ranks contains a lot of people who have higher characters and are working on secondary characters, as well as people that have spent TONS of time bouncing between yellow/high green with 500/1000/1500 wins etc. And as you said, it is a true "Warzone". Since the game has been out a good while now, all those people who were trying to learn or refusing to change their ways have given up, and all that remains are the people who are dedicated in trying to climb the ladder. I have 1 character in yellows and 3 in greens and I almost never run into anyone who is "free". Worst thing is some people that are just sick of losing at this point will pull out the cheesiest online tactics if you get ahead of them and spam their most hated "secret discord tech" they can get their hands on! Sigh. The battle continues!
Matt Gade Couldn’t agree more! All the fat has been trimmed. You can tell by the facts: there are a lot less akuma players, I’m starting to notice I’m playing the same players more often, there are grandmasters trucking me with only 4 wins, there are grandmasters trucking me with 435 wins. I’d say 65-75% of the casual consumer has left the tekken. What’s left is dedicated players, experienced players, and players that are good to great at fundamentals. All my wars are fought in green ranks. At this point i don’t care about the ranks because they mean very little.
I really appreciate what you’re doing for the tekken community, especially for the new players like myself. Congratulations on your 5k subs and keep up the good work.
Great video FWT! I particularly find your point about the exponential diff increase between Jug to Usurper to be very true! I am currently confidentally hovering around Warr and Vin with the occasional good days at Jug. Consistency and discipline are key to stick to a game plan. Great work! You have defo got a new sub!
My experience is on PS4 in the south Japan region, playing only Korean and Japanese players. It might be different depending on platform and region. I think you should just keep going without switching. The harder, the faster you learn!
@FrameWhisperer Hi! This video helped me alot when I was learning T7. It made it way easier to decide what to focus on when it came to practice, especially since T7 was my first Tekken and the crazy amount of information was just a massive cloud above my head. Maybe make a similar video for T8 now that it's been out for a while?
I've learned a lot from you bro. I feel a lot more confident when I play Tekken because I understand the game mechanics a lot more. Thanks you've earned a sub
Wow man im astonished by the tips in this video. I totally agree with everything you said and I learned a couple of new things too. Great video. I'm subbing
I can't really climb the online rank ladder, since my internet/location prevents me from getting more than 1 connection bar -.- But I still learn quite a lot from your videos, I love them
Tips really do help alot. Learned a decent amount of things from your videos. I was wondering would it be possible for you to do a Lars video. I know a few months ago you did a Lars guide, but i like to see you use Lars and online rank or player match to see how to use Lars against good people. Like for example, when to go in to attack, perfect timing to use art blast etc.. you did videos for Katarina, Josie and Chloe. Would like to see some more Lars gameplay.
FrameWhisperer Tekken lol I'm a Lars main and I'm still trying to figure him out. i played T6 and TT2 with him but not seriously. So in T7 is the first time I'm truly taking this seriously with Lars.
Thank you for the guide. This game is so hard for a newcomer it makes you want to quit... Kbdc, block lows and duck highs are basically the most important fundamentals imo. Even if i don't know all the match ups but i move well and block/whiff+punish the game becomes very fluid.
Congrats on 5k subs. On to the next 5000.... Here’s my question....does offline rating matter at all? I am currently ‘tekken god prime’ offline (cos i dont get much online play...internet connection is 3 bars at best) but i know i’ll probably be a yellow rank online
Harold Nixon offline rank pretty much says that u have enough experience on with ur character that u wont miss combos etc when u play against human opponents. Thats my opinion and what i think the offline rank grinding is useful for. Unlike practice mode, with a bot opponent, u will be finding urself in many different scenarios such as different ranges from the wall, wall splat angles etc.
Love you frame! Great vid and very informal. Quick question though if you were going to create a juke box playlist for tekken I'm curious what you would choose what are your favorite tekken songs?
Thanks! My favorite Tekken track of all time is Abyss of Time from Wayang Kulit in TT2. It has a special place in my heart because me and my friends used it only for serious rivalry battles when we were first learning Tekken. Other favorites are Mystical Forest, Touch and Go, Karma and of course Estrada da Estrela. EDIT: and Aurora Australis!
It's pretty insane how much tekken you learn just from watching videos or watching tournaments. I haven't been able to play tekken all week, but somehow I'm better than the last time I played, just from watching pros and thinking about how I need to incorporate more movement into my gameplay. I've finally made it to the vindicator. I'd like to give you credit as well man, watching your guides helps me understand how other characters work, which helps me understand how to beat them. Keep up the good work, I want to see you hit 10k now brother.
Great video as always, thanks. On the topic of sidestepping/sidewalking; I'm a pretty typical middle green rank at this point, but I may be suffering from sidestepping to much. I personally think that the tracking isn't overly intuitive, and I keep getting hit by moves that feels truly linear. Aside from getting into practice mode and learning to sidestep single moves one by one, do you have any tips or strategies? Worth a video perhaps? :)
I enjoyed this. Even though as I'm watching this, I reached Vanquisher 2 or 3 months ago, I think it is pretty relative to each individual tier of ranks. It's weird: when I first started Tekken (though this is not my first Tekken, it's the only one I seriously invested in.) I thought it was kind of cool to watch in terms of tournaments, but these days I get excited when things happen in tournament matches. It's just an interesting shift. Also, I do believe there is a serious shift right around ths Usurper level, and if I had to guess based on my own experience, it's because those rotations of people are the ones that are on the cusp of orange, as well as those that have been demoted therein. On to see what you have to say about my character in your Josie tutorial!
This rank explanation might be wrong for little% of players - believe me, there are kyus that know what happens in korean matches, but they can't turn theory into practice for example by being unable to play games themselfes from sickness. I think it's thing that HAVE TO be told. But overall your chanel and guides are great. You do amazing job helping beginners to get into the game. Hope you'll get 100.000 instead of 100 you wanted.
Tekken pic, soul calibur music, beautiful face, and soothing voice.

Worst thing is some people that are just sick of losing at this point will pull out the cheesiest online tactics if you get ahead of them and spam their most hated "secret discord tech" they can get their hands on! Sigh. The battle continues!
Played you yesterday.I forgot how the games went, but I remember your name.

Couldn’t agree more!

If it was me you either played Lars or feng
I really appreciate what you’re doing for the tekken community, especially for the new players like myself. Congratulations on your 5k subs and keep up the good work.
Love the name of your channel
Great video FWT! I particularly find your point about the exponential diff increase between Jug to Usurper to be very true! I am currently confidentally hovering around Warr and Vin with the occasional good days at Jug. Consistency and discipline are key to stick to a game plan. Great work! You have defo got a new sub!
true that, usurpers and vanquishers are the bane of my existence on ps4. Maybe i should jump to pc, i hear reaching orange ranks is easier there lol
michael clayton interesting! I've just purchased a new laptop. Was deliberating whether to pick up T7 or not. Guess it's a yes now!
My experience is on PS4 in the south Japan region, playing only Korean and Japanese players. It might be different depending on platform and region. I think you should just keep going without switching. The harder, the faster you learn!
Love this video man. Come back to it every few months.
Thank you for explaining on ways to get better, I will keep this video as a reference for the future when I need to learn more.
Imo the Mishimas are good to learn too because if you can play well with them you’re good at tekken
Congrats on 5k! 🎉 you deserve more! Keep up the good work 😁
Thank you!
Trying to pick the game up this late, I'm gonna need all the help I can get. Thanks a TON for these videos
I've learned a lot from you bro. I feel a lot more confident when I play Tekken because I understand the game mechanics a lot more. Thanks you've earned a sub
Congratulations. Because of you, I've learned that generic df1 is indeed a godlike move.
Haha right! Df1 is my favorita notation!
Made Orange feels so good. Frame Whisperer your advice was very helpful.
Wow man im astonished by the tips in this video. I totally agree with everything you said and I learned a couple of new things too. Great video. I'm subbing
How nice of you to say! Welcome to the channel.
Subbed to you as soon as you respected your mom
Great video. No other video on youtube has been able to break it down like this.
Congrats on the 5k, keep it up 👏🏻
This really helped reinforce everything ik, very helpful guide, definitely gonna be recommending to ppl
Thank for your support
Great video. Just what I was looking for.
This... Is an amazing video. Looking forward to more from this channel.
Gratz on the 5k

Dude you make learning tekken fun when I get bored of being in the lab
5k YOOOO you deserve that man! even more... like... 10times more! also shoutouts to your mom, a subbing mom, is a loving mom
Wow, thanks a lot! Glad you enjoy my stuff!
Dude just reached Yellow Ranks and your help and knowledge really helped me to improve
nice! I got to marauder with negan and i’m a grand master with kazuya lol
Nathan Hubrich cool
This video I agree with most everything you stated and I was having alot trouble yesterday even tho I been playing Tekken since I was 4 years old 98.
Your content is incredible , keep it up ! I’m stuck in green rank Hell and would love a side stepping tutorial as I basically play 2d
I can't really climb the online rank ladder, since my internet/location prevents me from getting more than 1 connection bar -.- But I still learn quite a lot from your videos, I love them
Excellent content right here
Best tekken tutorials evar :3
Thanks a lot mate!
I made it!!! I’ve got 5 mains 4 saviors 1 genbu
Again, very informative and personally enlightening. Thanks bud
I will probably do that at some point. I bet my Lars is very rusty though!
Well spoken, seems concise and good, thanks!
Congrats on 5k subs!
Thank you!
By the way, are you going to do a section of getting out of Red Ranks?
Great video as always, thanks. On the topic of sidestepping/sidewalking; I'm a pretty typical middle green rank at this point, but I may be suffering from sidestepping to much. I personally think that the tracking isn't overly intuitive, and I keep getting hit by moves that feels truly linear. Aside from getting into practice mode and learning to sidestep single moves one by one, do you have any tips or strategies? Worth a video perhaps? :)
Fredrik Jonasson Sidewalk
On to see what you have to say about my character in your Josie tutorial!
how to get better keep trying and don't give up
Any Paul guide in the near future? Love your videos
When my man said he started breaking shit cause of the tilt i agreed completely he KNOWS where I'm coming from
Great video! You're very well spoken
Thanks a lot!
27:07 damn those bars
Well made video. Good job
