Thank you so much! Iv'e been wanting to showcase this lens which is so great to use. Minolta's are those sleeper lenses that have great quality. Cheers!
I recently picked up my first MD lens (yup, adding another mount to my collection) and particular model is next on my list. Thanks for the perfectly timed video.
Thank you for watching! I do like creating these video "documentaries". I'm working on a new one and hope to make more in the future. Thank you for commenting, cheers!
@@studiotrejo3047 You should do a review on the Zenitar-M 50mm f1.7. Its got a smooth bokeh out of this world. I also love that lens, it lives permanently on my Fujica ST801.
Thank you for watching! The MD 50mm 1.7 is what starting me down the Minolta path when I saw the colors and rendering. I fell in love with it. I still have one. Thanks for sharing, cheers!
So do I, it sets them apart from new glass. Someone wrote that the lens is like your paint brush on canvas. They are all different and give different effects. Thank you for watching!
Your welcome! I guess it depends on which Canon 50mm 1.4 you have. The newer models have better coatings but it could still render it soft and low contrast, which some people still like. Which version do you have?
Nice! I have the MD 35 1.4 and it seems this generation of lenses render a beautiful image. Paired with the ZF your going to make some beautiful images. Thank you for watching!
Great review. You're right about the hexagonal out of focus highlights. It was enough for me to sell mine and stick with the 55mm 1.7. The 55mm I have still has 6 blades but I felt like it had slightly smoother rendering.
That is true they are cheap and discontinued. Another great reason to pick one up. If I get my hands on a Tominon 55 f1.2 I would review it. Not only is it fast at 1.2 but that extra reach at 55 will give it more Bokeh. Thank you for watching!

such a well made video with beautiful shots. again, one of those videos that you can watch multiple times and still enjoying it. 👌

I have this lens since 1983 with the Minolta XG-1. Took thousant of photos !!! And now I am gonna use it again with my Nikon Z5 + Urth Adapter.
Wow! What a legacy you have with this lens. I keep it with me and use it every chance I get. It’s a special lens.
Thank you for watching!

You're very welcome! I also keep adding mounts to my system. Minoltas are a special kind of lens I think you will enjoy them. Thank you for watching!

Hello! Thank you for watching. I will be creating more reviews like this. I’m glad you are enjoying them.
buying a Minolta 50mm 1.4 6 years ago was the best decision I've ever made in my photographic journey
Thats very cool! I can see how this lens could elevate peoples work, it's such a great little lens. Thank you for watching!

@@viniciusgotosleep That sounds like a nice one to try out.
Alex, as usual, the video and the narration rock. Very nice info and a great looking dog :)
Great looking dog😂
Thank you for checking it out and for being part of it.
Nice clip. I used to have a MD 50mm 1.7 in the 80s.

Tank you! Great video. Please consider analyzing corner sharpness.
Thank you for watching! Will consider it. Cheers!
Nice Colours. I like the rendering of the classic lenses.

With that gorgeous bokeh, this is sure a "Keeper" glass.
It really is a keeper glass! Minolta is one of those hidden gems that once you use it it's hard not to love. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the history lesson Alex! Seems like this one outperforms the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 which is definitely soft and low contrast when wide open.

@@studiotrejo3047 It's the classic FD circa 70s with the breech lock mount. It does have the SSC coating though.
@@jamesjulian9830 Thats a nice one! Film makers love it for the feel of the SSC's.
got an md50 1.4 and md35 2.8, thinking to pair them with the Nikon ZF

That's fascinating! Thank you for sharing. Renderings are important especially if you are going for a certain look. Thank you for watching!
I love the hexagonal bokeh. Looking at my copy, I think this lens is mostly metal and a little bit of plastic. Fantastic vintage lens overall.
Absolutely fantastic lens I agree. I still use it on professional shoots. I like the hexagonal bokeh too. Thank you for watching!
Excellent 😊👌
Thank you for watching! I like making these documentary style lens reviews. More to come. Cheers!
Minolta lens is cheap because the camera line was discontinued. Will there be a video about Tominon 55mm f1.2?

I just bought an adapter so that I can use it with my a6400 as well. 😁 I got this awesome lens with an X-300 for 20$ in the flea market
What an amazing find and a great deal! It’s a cool lens that will make great images on your camera. Thanks for watching!
How to combine this lens to the Z mount body?

Minolta lenses has that 3D-pop not found as consistently in other makers.
Minolta is a rare breed with name recognition without the big price tag. Add to it the beautiful colors and you get great lens with 3D pop.
@@studiotrejo3047 The A-mount prime lenses are great optics and dirt cheap now....👍
