  • Former Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG) Vinod Rai in an exclusive interview to TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami reveals about the biggest scams that led to the beginning of the end of UPA2. Vinod Rai exposes former PM Manmohan Singh totally, squarely blames him for his role in multiple scams like 2G, CWG and Coal. On 2G scam, Vinod Rai asserts that Manmohan Singh chose not to stop when he could have fully stopped former telecommunications minister A Raja, says may have given into coalition compulsions. Vinod Rai says 3 Congress MPs -- Sanjay Nirupam, Ashwani Kumar and Sandeep Dikshit -- pressurised him to keep Manmohan Singh out of 2G. Vinod Rai says he was accused of just finding faults in 2G report. Speaking on the coal scam, Vinod Rai says the scam could have been avoided if Manmohan Singh had intervened, says the then finance minister and he himself apprised Singh of the coal allocations claims. Vinod Rai reveals money was unnecessarily spent on an unaccountable Indian Olympic Association under Suresh Kalmadi. He further says the then sports minister was against Kalmadi. And, speaking on the then civil aviation minister Praful Patel, he said Patel pressurised Air India board to buy more planes, and due to his prodding, government had to spend Rs.38000 crore on the aircrafts. The former CAG's shocking revelations send Congress into a tizzy. Congress leader Manish Tiwari challenges Vinod Rai to a debate. While, BJP spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh says it is quite possible what Vinod Rai is saying has merit.
