  • Today, we delve into the basics of controlling the ball out of the air with a controlled first touch. We dive into two of the most common techniques and then finish with a less-utilized technique that will not only help speed up your play - and make you look super stylish and composed in doing so, but also allow you to trust your first touch, when the pressure of controlling the ball is really on..
    I hope you enjoy :)

    Another superb video, thanks. I love controlling the ball with my thigh, I’m always encouraging the kids to use it during their games.
    If by chance you’re doing requests, I’d love to see a video on drills that can safely be done indoors in the home, given a certain amount of room. Here in Canada, we don’t get to use our gardens for 4 to 5 months of the year. Cheers!

      Thank you 🙏 it’s such a useful skill. I often have players come through that have never been taught. Instead they tend to hop super high to control it on the instep. Still effective, but a lot slower in the transition

    Particularly if you're stationary and the ball is coming to your lift side a bit, you can just trap it to your right with outside of your right foot

    the top of the foot touch killer skill to master, this one in particular is either you have or don't. it's a comfort level skill once this wired in you dont even look at the ball when u do it. my go to touch skill when defenders get too intimate and tryn to guess my spaces. top of the foot over the head or top of the foot through the legs. #deadly

    The in-step one is most fundamental. If you get perfect at this, which most decent players are, the other two become easier without thinking about it.

    When dribbling negative thought says “I might lose the ball and I might get concede a goal”and this keeps repeating over and over again and this makes me mess up the things that I have practiced dribbling drills alone by myself over and over again due to the panic that is happening. do you know how to fix this?

    • @thefootballfolk
      @thefootballfolk  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing. This really comes down to a lack of confidence, like not fully believing in yourself or not wanting to let your team mates down. We all go through this at some point. It’s quite normal.
      My suggestion is to keep practicing the fundamentals until you’re really confident in your technique. But also realizing that it’s ok to lose the ball. The very best in the world lose the ball a lot. I believe Messi had the most incomplete dribbles of the ball in league 1 last year (ie lost the ball), and its due to him trying things that most wouldn’t time and time again. So try things, mess up, and learn from your mistakes 🧡🙏

  • @melissasmith5059
    @melissasmith5059 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

    All of this is useless because there’s pressure in a game , where 2 people are marking you. You’re basically standing alone using cones , anybody can trap when they are alone champ. Deal with game situations realistically

    • @lisauxr6
      @lisauxr6 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +107

      But you still can practice the touches like they show in the video. The way to learn stuff is going from easy to hard. Of course it is harder to do it in game, but when you build your confidence and sense for Ball control with the exercises they show in the video you will probably be able to do it in Game aswell.

    • @nastafol3862
      @nastafol3862 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +123

      So following your logic you should never train anything using cones because its not realistic compared to an ingame situation you literally make no sense

    • @wodra8608

      THIS is literally how you handle game situations “realistically”. Footballers do this all of the time in professional matches. Please don’t be so annoying and comment without even watching the video. I bet you don’t even play football.

    • @vivalavivarium
      @vivalavivarium 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Every professional Ik and have played with use these drill, the cones aren’t supposed to defenders just an area so you can practice keeping the ball close to you. Dortmund are famous for their high tech version of this where balls fly at them and they then have to play it into a small goal. You seem like that stupid player who wouldn’t pay attention to you coach and just wait for the scrimmage at the end of practice
