My biggest problem with the game is the fact that half of vegetas story aint there. One of the main characters of the series and half of his story just aint there.
Seriously feel the same way. I am having A LOT of fun in this game, but I really wish they went a little further into the story. Like, don't get me wrong, the MP is the main reason I play, but the story mode was such a fun way to get my little brother into DBZ. This story mode I feel like I'd have to fill in the gaps and it kinda expects the player to already know the story. I get that you can't really spoil the Titanic anymore, but I wish they matched the best gameplay and visuals of a Tenkaichi game with the best retelling of the series. I really have no desire to watch Super, so this would've been a fun way to get the whole story.
My problem is the lack of planetary destruction. I am using characters that destroy planets by accident. Why when I use an ultimate, it just ends in a cloud of smoke or doesn’t vaporize the enemy? I think FighterZ got them beat with that. The destructive and dramatic finishes were too cold.
@@GrimpachiSeries S has ruined the gen… it started to become obvious with Watchdogs: Legion. They outright nerfed their ambition to retain parity. Microsoft need to relegate it to a streaming box at this point.🤷🏽
bro what's disappointing is the lack of unique looking combos, remember the old games buu used to use stretchy arm moves , yamcha used to use his wolf style punches and kicks and burter had these lighting fast blurry combos like the anime, but in sparking everyone just combos the same, no unique flare to each character. yes burter combos fast in sparking but it doesn't have that lightning fast effect it did in old games
Bandai should've had a demo available to everyone to get better feedback from alot more of the audience instead of limiting to a small portion of players
It definitely should’ve been an open beta…a game of this magnitude needs opinions from people in uncontrolled environments instead of ones more concerned about saying something that could lose them their behind-the-scene benefits from Bandai.
The outfits really disappointed me. All I wanted was kid Gohans orange gi with the sword piccolo gave him and Future Trunks movie 9. Long hair, not tied back, jacket/black tank top variants. Super Saiyan trunks in that movie is sick. I would have been happy with whatever else they decided to give other characters, I just wanted those two. I highly doubt future dlc will deliver them, but I'm still hoping.
same... Almost all the outfits are just the normal ones but with different levels of damage to them. A bigger disappointment for me is no Bardock story mode, though, especially since we now have more content for Bardock than we did before. I don't really give a damn about Super Saiyan Bardock, but at the same time I thought him going back in time and becoming the legendary super saiyan that Freezer's ancestors warned about was cool, even though the idea of him going back in time in the first place was not... I still wanted to play that. I'll be surprised it it never gets added in future DLC...
They need to start making some announcements, because alot of people bought the ultimate addition, and the game feels unfinished. People have the right to complain, especially when bt3 had so much content. We just have to wait on announcements or updates to see.

As much as I love this game, there are some things that need fixing/added. Like I really want more stages and costumes added. The input issue definitely needs to be fixed for sure. And I think you should be allowed to restrict yourself and others from using OP characters, I get sick of seeing UI Goku, FP Jiren, and Fusions.
Yeah the control locking up when trying to do my ultimate is the most annoying thing for me.. it's really ruins my combos..glad to know I'm not the only one dealing with it. 😅
Happens all the time to me. Been playing fighting games my whole life - played in multiple events for many fighting games - the inputs on this are definitely sketchy sometimes haha. Having a lot of fun but it’s really the only game I’ve run into this sort of issue this consistently.
Rant Mode On [✔️] Off [] I can't say that's ever happened to me. So far my combos have failed because I either pressed the wrong button or got countered. Never a glitch. Side note. I can't fault the game itself for this but I cannot stand online play, ranked or casual. When you get matched with different players that are using the same 4-5 top characters and doing the same lame cheesy strats that have no counter play, online is not fun and instant turn off. Of my 65 hour total playtime I probably have a little over an hour of that in online. The rest? Single player/offline mode and still loving it. Haven't been able to put it down since I downloaded it. Solid 8.5 outta 10 for me. Rant mode on [] off [✔️] 😅😁
TBF, it's on par with Tenkaichi 1 - which should be a reasonable expectation because this is a first installment to the new-gen series. You can't just copy/paste assets & code from the PS2 game (not that the source code even still exists for it; it wasn't until the PS3 generation that studios started saving backups after the game gets printed; beforehand they were deleted so the devs could reuse the HDDs that stored the code for developing a new game) onto modern platforms and expect it to work; everything had to be made from scratch. Dragonball is such a wealthy fanchise, they have so much money, they could make this game abosolute perfection. Customize moves? How about a character creator with full sliders ( even T and A sliders for the gal characters). Customize stages, indeph voice acting for everything. New forms for humans and even funny costumes like Driving Piccolo's outfit.
Personally I never cared much for custom characters in Dragonball games, reason why Xenoverse wasn't really that fun. I'd rather have a complete roster with every single charater.
My main issue with this game is definitely how it is horrible at giving you information. There’s no way to tell what type of character one is, each character has a lot of random things given and taken like the follow ups to combos and some abilities like some of the speed class being able to teleport short distances on the fly while sparking and others who at least have combo as their highest stat not, the tutorials suck and explain to you what HP is but not the little bar next to it made up of squares, they don’t explain the difference between each class like the giants’ perception button being there to hit people on the floor, and even after getting pretty decent at the game I still don’t know a lot about it.
Trusttttt me… I did a 5v5 Saiyan Saga Z Fighters battle vs Vegeta, Raditz, Nappa, Zarbon and Dodoria and, no lie, Nappa and Dodoria kept on switching in and out, that I literally couldn’t KO them no matter what moves it did as they kept recovering HP on the bench!
It actually is all explained but it is not very intuitive. For all the skills and combos you have to go into "explanation of controls" and for information about giants and all the other kind of stuff you have to go into the super training and there are a bunch of written tutorials.
@@Herodotus888 Yeah, I know that but the game is set up so that most characters are nearly identical control wise. I never even thought to go to the controls section to look up perception which everyone else has especially with how stupidly divided that menu is. Several sections are based on movement like simple movement and movement from short and movement from long range. I’m sure several of these parts could’ve been made into one section like these movement sections and defense, counters, and recoveries. That way there could be a simple section about unique class mechanics rather than looking through every mechanic to find any differences or at least let me see the controls for all of my characters rather than just the chosen one. They should also be given tutorials as it would still be a better way to teach the player and more complex tutorials for that matter. For most of them it’s just do the move and I only remember one of them having an actual tutorial explaining the use of a move which was the vanish counter which had the just do the move tutorial and then had another one called vanish counter uses which introduces vanish wars to players. Everything else gives you no use for them. I didn’t even know the dragon dash was for countering projectile based play styles which had me struggling a lot against them as I only knew to reflect and close in on them while doing so which lead to me being attacked first or lead to them throwing a charged ki attack. Don’t let my complaints fool you about my opinion of this game as it’s pretty good.
This is so true. I’ve been playing online with friends and they’ve been teaching me things the game has never mentioned once. It’s like the game expects you to be a DBZbudokai veteran or something.
Costumes are really lacking. Maaaan, I was hoping to always play with Goku using his End of Z outfit he wore in the last Z episode, like I did in Tenkaichi 3. It's not here, it should be here. Also, Tenkaichi 3, if it did not have a costume, it had color combinations. Hopefully more costumes will be added... And local VS stages (don't lie to me Bandai, it is possible). Costumes I want: End of Z Goku, Goku amd Piccolo's driving test outfits.

What pisses me off is most of the time in a fight it won't let me transform like i can have a character thats able to do it and use the commands but it won't letvme even in Sparking mode
The amount of lies and inconsistencies is honestly insane this game is embarrassing soulless I mean they said they’d have next level stage destruction just to have engravings in the ground to pretend like it’s craters and the same prescripted destructible probs we’ve seen time and time again I’d be ok if they meant even stage could be destroyed but not even that my point here is that this game missed out on quiet literally every reason why people liked bt3 and watered down the basic necessities and acted like good graphics made up for it just shameful

Custom Specials and Custom outfits were 2 things I was praying for. I was doubtful that we'd get custom supers since they opted to not go with the ragin blast method of making 1 goku with a bunch of different specials, but instead like 30 gokus instead but held out hope when I saw trunks and 18, needless to say, I was disappointed. But what actually made me mad was no alt colors and all the damn outfits we missed. I was severely annoyed when I saw there were no color variations or any way to customize the colors. I lost my ssj4 with the black fur, inverted colors ssj4 gogeta and my END OF Z GOKU FIT. That actually made me mad. All my favorite fits didn't survive the purge.
I know this is supposed to be BT3 come again, and RB TECHNICALLY isn't part of BT, but it's been disappointing to be back to less supers, no counter-supers, and some of the rushes are kinda boring now. There's still ones that are god tier, like Turles' ultimate, but stuff like Sadistic 18 and Super 13's ultimate don't feel anywhere near as good as even BT3's. The beam attacks are way prettier sure, but a lot of them don't even have an impact shot so they feel like a wet fart. Feels like they also have less variations on animations of the ki supers hitting than RB. Also agreed, the costumes blow here.
I'm so glad people like you exist calling out these issues with the game and as you mentioned and we know, there are quite *A LOT!* of them. Personally, I am contrary to you and you can mostly catch me online fighting and stuff and let me tell ya, - it's a damn horrible experience. Controls locking, connection issues, Insant Sparking Mode Ult Ki Blast Spamming [unblockable] is a real problem to deal with. On top, people are receiving messages and ristrictions for plugging or cheating, despite playing fair and square. Tournament Mode is incredibly buggy too. Sometimes you're locked out of the option to hit ready in your tournament or leave the lobby..all you can do is scroll the chatlog and display the Room ID. This control lock will persist well past beyond starting, to the point you are not even able to control you character when a Match starts. Very frustrating to say the least. Again, I'm glad you brought up lots of well earned critique for this game, I and other fans payed 120€ for, to get Vegeta with slightly different boots amount of effort in 1/5 costumes for that any example character. Yes, there are many positive things but fundamentally there are so many issues with this game after it's rushed launch breaking DBS0 neck in terms of gaming experience and enjoyment for me.
Here's my take on the issues. 1. No back attack, meaning when some on vanishes behind you, you had the option to hold back and attack to counter. They do have that in Xenoverse 2, and it gave more variety than just simply vanishing in response. 2. They need to tighten up input response. It's just as much of an issue in standard setting without assists. Can't count how many times I would put in an input, only to have to do it twice, which slows up my flow. 3, I personally have no issues with the destruction. In fact I wish it was more destructive like the the show. 4. Characters need more variety in move sets. We should at least be able to choose what specials we want. Like Rebriana has a love arrow attack in DBS that's not in the game for example. 5. OP characters have way to much health. There should be a trade off for using these characters which otherwise attract the most garbage players. I would imagine Ranked is nothing but UI Gokus and SSF4 Gogetas. No point in having 100+ characters to only see 2 of them. So I just stick to regular matches because ranked doesn't mean much if thats what it boils down to. 6. Could have been creative with the quick time events in fights. The hold spin around the characters as they clash is played out at this point. Could have went with something like where the characters high clash while causing destruction or something.
I agree with everything except number 5. The game isn’t meant to be balanced. Some characters have more health bars, some have higher defense. The trade off is a higher dp score. Those top tier characters take up over half your team alone. 4 characters with 3 health bars can easily beat 1 character with 4 health bars. Thats a skill issue.
If they tighten up the fucking response especially when ki charging, I would like this game alot. This game in all mechanics, are not responsive and inconsistent. Not sure why a PS2 game or even raging blast feels snappier
I appreciate this honest review. Game definitely got some weird issues but overall I love the game. It's the sole reason I decided to get a PS5 and I don't regret it.
Tf is the point of a high and low guard when you gotta charge the high and low attacks just to get through them lmfao doesn’t make any sense. Then you got perception which has no penalty to be used at all, no combos cause super counters which work when they want to but you can just spam them so fuck it
I agree that classic controls need a little tweaking and I’m sure a patch will come to address those issues. What I don’t want is nerfs and balancing, because being able to do ridiculous and hilarious things with certain characters is fun. Like I don’t want SSJ4 Gogeta or Z Broly to be balanced, they’re meant to be overpowered
One nitpick I have, is that Jirens full power transformation is utterly garbage. It's low quality and false completely flat. I'd love for them to fix that soon. There's a couple transformations that are pretty lame but Jirens is especially awful.
I agree 100% on the controls issue. This is the first time i’ve played a BT3 type dragonball game since I was a kid. I use classic and sometimes my controls just switch, or outright stop working. It’s so infuriating. Still love the game, I really enjoy the chaos of each matches honestly. People hiding in buildings or playing around the towers and structures as they are collapsing. I know it can be impossible to tell what’s happening at times (mainly because of the camera in my opinion), but being uncomfortable and the game being a little janky really takes me back to being that kid again. With dedication and patience (praying to dev team), I’m sure this game will age very well.
Yeah, in the tournament of power stage, you need to be in the ground to z-impulse. Because flying is not allowed. That’s why your character tries to grab
@musclespy575 it happens on other stages and it's locking everything but movement. I really don't think the stage is a factor. He also shouldn't be grabbing when I'm not doing the action for grabbing.

the normal dash is to avoid ki blast press the z dash once to do its in their direction and then u can move freely ore press z dash twice to get behind them. it's not nit-picking it's simply a skill issue.
@Chr0nicjamz187 I'm not even sure what you are referring to. In the video I mentioned the difference between the 2. I also said the normal dash is different than how it used to be in the past in my opinion it worked better that way.
@Grimpachi ggs bro i think its just u gotta learn how 2 play the game properly i think its called ep mode rather than story mode because it uses inspiration from the eps. I think the fact it explains all the controls because 4 all characters there are only 4 combos and the game has a system 2 create ur own combos. And i think the camera being jank when someone is above u can b fixed by using standard controls and using X and A to teleport or using the dash/ spacing to strategically place yourself where ur not at a disadvantage as the movement system has more thought put into it than you think. Keep playing have fun and just try ranked🫡🤷🏾♂️✌🏾
Thats my biggest downside of this game. I hate the combo system. Im so used to setting up combo into a blast specail but you literally have to stop mid combo to do it but thats after i pressed that button atleast 4 times.
They made everything too easy to do imo. There’s no reason for super counters, z counters and perception moves to be this easy. I was a master at bt3 and could never do super counters on a consistent level at all. The fighting is extremely fast paced (a lil too fast imo) but flight is slow unless you home in. You were spot on with the combo chains not inputting that’s probably my biggest issue with the fighting other than that the UI of the game is terrible in the character selection and online battle sections. Love the game overall tho
TOO EASY? Nah, man, that's crazy. The game is insanely fast-paced, and doing super counters as well as dodging ultimate attacks that are unblockable is LITERALLY FRAME PERFECT. As someone who played BT3, I do feel Sparking Zero is easier because the controls are much better, in my opinion, and it's easier to find everything you can do in the game. But saying the game is too easy? No fucking way. I do agree with some of the stuff you say, though. The character select screen really needs some work, flight (if you're not homing in) is pretty slow, and sometimes the controls can be unresponsive.
@@holmes7077 I didn’t say the game was easy I’m saying just super counters, z counters and perception dodges are WAY easier to do which in turn combined with how fast everything is happening makes it harder actually lol but the difficulty isn’t the issue.
They definitely oversold the episode battles. They made it seem like you'll play thru the story and totally alter what happened historically. For the most part everything still happens the same with a few wins and losses differing.
Honestly solid video. Im glad someone points out criticism for the game. Hell, i thought my controller was bugged whenever the game wouldn't allow me to specific actions like the sweep if the combo was too long. Dont get me wrong, i love the game and having a blast playing with friends and coworkers.
My issues are lack of costumes and accessories as promised, but I know that’s coming. The bigger issues are the button lag issues on and offline and the UP square counter technique. It’s the only counter that just doesn’t hit as it should. I share all of the complaints of the poster. This is why there should’ve been a public demo/beta test. Hopefully everything is patched soon.
The only effort went into the actual characters/graphics and the mechanics. Everything outside of that is just meh overall. Clearly unfinished. No recolors, very little outfits, lack of stages, bugs and just terrible UI design. The character picking roster literally looks like an alpha version. I still enjoy the game a lot, but it's obvious they didn't have time or resources to polish it before launch. That's what it looks like to me atleast. If they didn't ask a base price of 70 for this or 100 euro's if you get the deluxe edition I wouldn't critic it as harshly but they asked for a ludicrous amount of money for very little actual content. It's supposed to be casual but the most you can do as a pve player is custom battle for continues replayability. Outside of the fighting and the characters which are superb imo this game hasn't got much going for it right now. If more content is added that we don't have to pay for that would help. I know they are planning on milking the SZ playerbase with overexpensive dlc anyway.
I 100% agree with you! Dosen't make sense you can do afterimage and power up ultimate but not have the draw back like slowing down your charge up on ki

I dont agree that we need less destruction. Its one of my favorite aspects of the game. I do however agree with the controls. They just dont always seem to work. Something i wanna do the ultimate and just cant. I even stop doing everything and try to use ultimate but it doesnt work until i used a super charge up again and somehow than it does work. Also atter getting into sparking i wanna rush behind the opponent but istead the character is grabbing in the air while the opponent is on the other side of the map. Also when i transform the characters get stuck in a charging animations and i cant do anything for some time. I hope they already fixed it. I didnt have internet for the last 2 weeks because the construction workers hit the cable somewhere. So now i need to wait till the 31st for them to repair it
I thought that was just me, even when I try to switch out or transform, the transformation will pop up and it’s highlighted so ik I can do it but it will just make me start attacking or do nothing at all
My problem is the controls randomly freak out and change randomly to standard when set to classic even when playing offline episode battles. Also the fact that the ai sometimes does certain actions that are not possible for a human at all. Like when I charge a punch or kick to send them flying away so i can charge ki and they recover instantly and start punching me again without getting sent back even an inch. Dealing with these two issues has seen me hitting retry over and over again due to not being able to send the ai away and also not being able to counter due to the controls changing mid fight every 10 seconds. Another example is when I do one perfect z vanish behind them after they try attacking me and they do the same but I can't do the next one due to the button for it changing.
I can understand that opinion. Frankly, love it or hate it I am happy they at least added new mechanics to the fighting system. Each game installment should build upon the last. And I say this as an old head that played all the OG BT games as they released. Note, I do like how BT3 plays a little better, but I’m not mad at them for changing stuff up is my point.

13:58 I think they did the story this way because they used cutscenes for other characters stories to kinda tell some of those fights. I haven’t played many so I could be wrong but it seemed like they didn’t want us playing the same fights that they told in other cutscenes.

I dont understand how there's 975 thousand options for defense from the front but you are straight uo screwed if someone teleports behind you. Even Xenoverse 2 left you press backwards + punch to attack behind yourself
A lack of fighting stages and lack of outfits is mostly my main complaint. I'm just getting bored with some of the stages already, They used to have a destroyed version of almost every map back in DBZ: BT 2&3. Im sure more content is coming but bandai has been god awful for dlc pricing over time since xenoverse 2
· Still no Day 1 patch · Bad camera · Barebones in terms of content · Movesets are too barebones (only 2 supers and an Ultimate during Sparking) · No crossplay · Not much variety because everyone seems to get the same type of super · Reused animations · Animations can be quite stiff and awkward · Supers/Ultimates lack impact · Supers/Ultimates will miss for no reason at all · Ultimates sometimes become unblockable for no reason · The screen is constantly obstructed and covered · No reliable way to get people off of you · Character select screen is bad · The UI looks generic and worse than previous entries · You're constantly being sucked into cutscenes and cinematics mid fight · It doesn't go "Ready?" anymore while you fly around - it throws you straight into the fight · Wrong translations / localization / wrong subtitles · Beams are paper thin · PVP health is WAY too low · Communication errors since launch · Character stats are enabled in ranked, why? · Ragequitters are not punished · Development was rushed to push Goku Mini pre-orders and Daima DLC · The funny thing about the Sparking auto combo (aka mash 1 button for 20 hits) is that it isn't even an actual combo, you're just hitting in front of you without tracking · Various control bugs and glitches including infinite ki charging without pressing anything, Ultimates not working, control schemes changing randomly · Sparking is completely broken - 2-3 health bars for pressing square, triangle and getting a guaranteed Ultimate is not okay. All you need is for the enemy to mistime the extremely tight vanish counter a single time and there you go, you won · the AI is way too overpowered and side objectives are not reasonable sometimes - the CPU will input read relentlessly, always jump behind you so you can't block the second you press the button, always counter your counter, combo you near infinitely and have inflated damage. There aren't "real" combos in the game so your reward for finally being allowed to hit them is a few punches and kicks so... yeah. They will however be helpless if you kick them away once, odd · Bad sound effects (The sound effects themselves are fine but sound low quality at times) · Generic music · Ugly looking stages · Opponents are unresponsive to getting hit (During staggers and such, while not bad, it looks bad at times) · Hits are constantly covered by black and white screen flashes during supers · Not really polished · Focus on graphics over gameplay
I'm awful at fighting games, but I loved BT3 growing up, so I picked this up for nostalgia's sake. There's a lot of little things that pile on that make it irritating at times. Notifications for rewards lingering too long, controls locking up, unable to turn off time limits for matches or picking characters. I think the thing most regularly annoying me are special moves taking lower priority. I'll be knocking a guy away multiple times, even if the ki button is held down. Or after you knock someone away, it takes a solid second just to follow up with a special. I just want to send out my Kamehameha before he can block all the damage again.

This game is weird. It’s hard to play but it’s really spammy. You get into a rush chain and just spam whatever counter you hope will work, then you fly away and go sparking and then dragon dash into ultimate. There are hella bugs in this game. All the characters look weird. It’s not that great.
When I played any fighting games with my friends,sometimes we would invent scenerios and dialog. Like one friend would beat Goku with Frieza and I woukd have master roshi face Frieza . And then my friend would be all " how is a mere human so powerful, I'll have to show you my true power" I would respond as Roshi with " I have tapped into an ancient human technique that allows ....andit would go on and back and forth.
16:30 YEZZIR! Lol I used to do that ALL THE TIME on Ultimate Ninja (PS2) games. To the point where I made substitutions for some Shippuden characters weren't released yet! 😂
Another small thing is when you get hit with an *"Ultimate"* you are in search mode and it takes you days to find your opponent...this should only be a thing if someone uses *"Solar Flare"* on you, because in BT3. You actually had a search button and you find your opponent QUICK ! The amount of times some has hit me because I couldn't find them. I give the game a solid 9/10. It will be a 10 after they fix all these issues lbs. I agree with all of your combat issues; I run into all of them. One problem is I think vanish should cost a skill point. It’s pretty dumb when it happens for like a min back and forth. Would make it to where you have to be strategic as to when you try and combo. Basically what the ninja storm games do with substitution jutsu
@ZacharyLane-t4k I gotta disagree lol. I really disliked when storm did that. To be far you can teleport without trigger an attack so you can end the never ending teleport battle. It's actually a strategy to do that to throw people off.
@@Grimpachi but you can rush in without any thought ALL the time because there is infinite vanishes. Like you’ll have someone dogged; they’ll have no ki, no skill points and I’ll catch them in the back and then they STILL get to vanish. That’s a big issue for me because there is no penalty for haphazardly comboing. I don’t like ninja storm that much anymore, but they got it right there. You had to bait the person into subbing and then when they have none, that’s when you go into action. And vice versa, you’d have to play mad defensively and actually use blocks when you’re out of vanishes. And this would also apply to the vanish attacks. I’m cool with it being another bar on the HUD start out with 5 and have then replenish over time/when to deal/take damage. Would make it more of a skill thing vs a thing people spam
I'm playing on Xbox Series S and the environmental destruction has been turned down a lot. If a character goes through something that can be destroyed, it just disappears with some smoke effects. It's terrible. I want all the crumbling and stuff to make it more immersive. Also another complaint is I've never been able to blow up any planet or have that cut scene trigger at all. I've gotten the world tournament one to trigger but honestly it's animation has been turned down as well. Not sure if this happens on series X models but as of right now the series S is the wrong way to play Sparking Zero in my opinion.

I mostly play split screen & me & the homie pick 5 Random’s. I get that we are going to get a Goku or Vegeta or fusion of them every time but the move sets aren’t unique enough. They all have kamehameha or gallick gun. I wish each character had a 3rd super. 2 seems so limiting & every move has to have a cut scene. I feel like only ultimates & grabs should

I definitely agree my buttons don’t seem to register properly. I do a combo to send my enemy flying and I want to combo a special into that and half the time I rush towards the enemy and the game doesn’t register my Square or Triangle input
Sparking mode is an absolute terrible feature for me in this game and its biggest problem. I wonder who at Bandai thought a way to do nearly 2 bars worth of damage was a good idea. Ranked online is basically who gets their sparking first
I've never had an issue with the camera at all. The only issue that I had with the camera is frost. Is ultimate is bugged, after he launches it. He gets stuck in the center of it and it doesn't go away until you switch characters and even then it just floats there but you are not stuck in anymore
Ninja storm 4 story was amazing never watched the show. It did great explaining everything. Huge db fan and I prefer how Ninja storm 4 did it. Keep the sparking episodes but they should've added more to the main story mode
Customization and movesets are sorely lacking, and some balance adjustments were not considered like bans in ranked. I think most players like myself are ignoring this because the game is so faithful to Tenkaichi, and It's clear from a business perspective they rushed this game out due to Akira's death and Daima release. It lacks polish, but looking at Fighterz, Breakers and Xenoverse support and the record breaking sales for this game I'm not too worried
The game is DEFINITELY beautiful, but there are a few characters that aren't quite right, like teen Goku wearing boots instead of those bruce lee shoes.

My biggest problem with the game is the fact that half of vegetas story aint there. One of the main characters of the series and half of his story just aint there.

Seriously feel the same way. I am having A LOT of fun in this game, but I really wish they went a little further into the story. Like, don't get me wrong, the MP is the main reason I play, but the story mode was such a fun way to get my little brother into DBZ. This story mode I feel like I'd have to fill in the gaps and it kinda expects the player to already know the story.
I get that you can't really spoil the Titanic anymore, but I wish they matched the best gameplay and visuals of a Tenkaichi game with the best retelling of the series. I really have no desire to watch Super, so this would've been a fun way to get the whole story.

My problem is the lack of planetary destruction. I am using characters that destroy planets by accident. Why when I use an ultimate, it just ends in a cloud of smoke or doesn’t vaporize the enemy? I think FighterZ got them beat with that. The destructive and dramatic finishes were too cold.

bro what's disappointing is the lack of unique looking combos, remember the old games buu used to use stretchy arm moves , yamcha used to use his wolf style punches and kicks and burter had these lighting fast blurry combos like the anime, but in sparking everyone just combos the same, no unique flare to each character. yes burter combos fast in sparking but it doesn't have that lightning fast effect it did in old games

The outfits really disappointed me. All I wanted was kid Gohans orange gi with the sword piccolo gave him and Future Trunks movie 9. Long hair, not tied back, jacket/black tank top variants. Super Saiyan trunks in that movie is sick. I would have been happy with whatever else they decided to give other characters, I just wanted those two. I highly doubt future dlc will deliver them, but I'm still hoping.

A bigger disappointment for me is no Bardock story mode, though, especially since we now have more content for Bardock than we did before. I don't really give a damn about Super Saiyan Bardock, but at the same time I thought him going back in time and becoming the legendary super saiyan that Freezer's ancestors warned about was cool, even though the idea of him going back in time in the first place was not... I still wanted to play that. I'll be surprised it it never gets added in future DLC...

I can't say that's ever happened to me. So far my combos have failed because I either pressed the wrong button or got countered. Never a glitch. Side note. I can't fault the game itself for this but I cannot stand online play, ranked or casual. When you get matched with different players that are using the same 4-5 top characters and doing the same lame cheesy strats that have no counter play, online is not fun and instant turn off. Of my 65 hour total playtime I probably have a little over an hour of that in online. The rest? Single player/offline mode and still loving it. Haven't been able to put it down since I downloaded it. Solid 8.5 outta 10 for me.

TBF, it's on par with Tenkaichi 1 - which should be a reasonable expectation because this is a first installment to the new-gen series. You can't just copy/paste assets & code from the PS2 game (not that the source code even still exists for it; it wasn't until the PS3 generation that studios started saving backups after the game gets printed; beforehand they were deleted so the devs could reuse the HDDs that stored the code for developing a new game) onto modern platforms and expect it to work; everything had to be made from scratch. Dragonball is such a wealthy fanchise, they have so much money, they could make this game abosolute perfection. Customize moves? How about a character creator with full sliders ( even T and A sliders for the gal characters). Customize stages, indeph voice acting for everything. New forms for humans and even funny costumes like Driving Piccolo's outfit.
Personally I never cared much for custom characters in Dragonball games, reason why Xenoverse wasn't really that fun. I'd rather have a complete roster with every single charater.
My main issue with this game is definitely how it is horrible at giving you information. There’s no way to tell what type of character one is, each character has a lot of random things given and taken like the follow ups to combos and some abilities like some of the speed class being able to teleport short distances on the fly while sparking and others who at least have combo as their highest stat not, the tutorials suck and explain to you what HP is but not the little bar next to it made up of squares, they don’t explain the difference between each class like the giants’ perception button being there to hit people on the floor, and even after getting pretty decent at the game I still don’t know a lot about it.
Trusttttt me… I did a 5v5 Saiyan Saga Z Fighters battle vs Vegeta, Raditz, Nappa, Zarbon and Dodoria and, no lie, Nappa and Dodoria kept on switching in and out, that I literally couldn’t KO them no matter what moves it did as they kept recovering HP on the bench!
It actually is all explained but it is not very intuitive. For all the skills and combos you have to go into "explanation of controls" and for information about giants and all the other kind of stuff you have to go into the super training and there are a bunch of written tutorials.
@@Herodotus888 Yeah, I know that but the game is set up so that most characters are nearly identical control wise. I never even thought to go to the controls section to look up perception which everyone else has especially with how stupidly divided that menu is. Several sections are based on movement like simple movement and movement from short and movement from long range. I’m sure several of these parts could’ve been made into one section like these movement sections and defense, counters, and recoveries. That way there could be a simple section about unique class mechanics rather than looking through every mechanic to find any differences or at least let me see the controls for all of my characters rather than just the chosen one. They should also be given tutorials as it would still be a better way to teach the player and more complex tutorials for that matter.
For most of them it’s just do the move and I only remember one of them having an actual tutorial explaining the use of a move which was the vanish counter which had the just do the move tutorial and then had another one called vanish counter uses which introduces vanish wars to players. Everything else gives you no use for them. I didn’t even know the dragon dash was for countering projectile based play styles which had me struggling a lot against them as I only knew to reflect and close in on them while doing so which lead to me being attacked first or lead to them throwing a charged ki attack. Don’t let my complaints fool you about my opinion of this game as it’s pretty good.
This is so true. I’ve been playing online with friends and they’ve been teaching me things the game has never mentioned once. It’s like the game expects you to be a DBZbudokai veteran or something.
Costumes are really lacking. Maaaan, I was hoping to always play with Goku using his End of Z outfit he wore in the last Z episode, like I did in Tenkaichi 3. It's not here, it should be here. Also, Tenkaichi 3, if it did not have a costume, it had color combinations.
Hopefully more costumes will be added... And local VS stages (don't lie to me Bandai, it is possible).

Custom Specials and Custom outfits were 2 things I was praying for. I was doubtful that we'd get custom supers since they opted to not go with the ragin blast method of making 1 goku with a bunch of different specials, but instead like 30 gokus instead but held out hope when I saw trunks and 18, needless to say, I was disappointed. But what actually made me mad was no alt colors and all the damn outfits we missed. I was severely annoyed when I saw there were no color variations or any way to customize the colors. I lost my ssj4 with the black fur, inverted colors ssj4 gogeta and my END OF Z GOKU FIT. That actually made me mad. All my favorite fits didn't survive the purge.
I know this is supposed to be BT3 come again, and RB TECHNICALLY isn't part of BT, but it's been disappointing to be back to less supers, no counter-supers, and some of the rushes are kinda boring now. There's still ones that are god tier, like Turles' ultimate, but stuff like Sadistic 18 and Super 13's ultimate don't feel anywhere near as good as even BT3's. The beam attacks are way prettier sure, but a lot of them don't even have an impact shot so they feel like a wet fart. Feels like they also have less variations on animations of the ki supers hitting than RB. Also agreed, the costumes blow here.
The half assed split screen mode, and crossplay are also issues that rubbed me the wrong way

Personally, I am contrary to you and you can mostly catch me online fighting and stuff and let me tell ya, - it's a damn horrible experience.
Controls locking, connection issues, Insant Sparking Mode Ult Ki Blast Spamming [unblockable] is a real problem to deal with.
On top, people are receiving messages and ristrictions for plugging or cheating, despite playing fair and square.
Tournament Mode is incredibly buggy too.
Sometimes you're locked out of the option to hit ready in your tournament or leave the lobby..all you can do is scroll the chatlog and display the Room ID.
This control lock will persist well past beyond starting, to the point you are not even able to control you character when a Match starts.
Very frustrating to say the least.
Again, I'm glad you brought up lots of well earned critique for this game, I and other fans payed 120€ for, to get Vegeta with slightly different boots amount of effort in 1/5 costumes for that any example character.
Yes, there are many positive things but fundamentally there are so many issues with this game after it's rushed launch breaking DBS0 neck in terms of gaming experience and enjoyment for me.
Here's my take on the issues.
1. No back attack, meaning when some on vanishes behind you, you had the option to hold back and attack to counter. They do have that in Xenoverse 2, and it gave more variety than just simply vanishing in response.
2. They need to tighten up input response. It's just as much of an issue in standard setting without assists. Can't count how many times I would put in an input, only to have to do it twice, which slows up my flow.
3, I personally have no issues with the destruction. In fact I wish it was more destructive like the the show.
4. Characters need more variety in move sets. We should at least be able to choose what specials we want. Like Rebriana has a love arrow attack in DBS that's not in the game for example.
5. OP characters have way to much health. There should be a trade off for using these characters which otherwise attract the most garbage players. I would imagine Ranked is nothing but UI Gokus and SSF4 Gogetas. No point in having 100+ characters to only see 2 of them. So I just stick to regular matches because ranked doesn't mean much if thats what it boils down to.
6. Could have been creative with the quick time events in fights. The hold spin around the characters as they clash is played out at this point. Could have went with something like where the characters high clash while causing destruction or something.
I agree with everything except number 5. The game isn’t meant to be balanced. Some characters have more health bars, some have higher defense. The trade off is a higher dp score. Those top tier characters take up over half your team alone. 4 characters with 3 health bars can easily beat 1 character with 4 health bars. Thats a skill issue.
If they tighten up the fucking response especially when ki charging, I would like this game alot. This game in all mechanics, are not responsive and inconsistent. Not sure why a PS2 game or even raging blast feels snappier

I agree that classic controls need a little tweaking and I’m sure a patch will come to address those issues. What I don’t want is nerfs and balancing, because being able to do ridiculous and hilarious things with certain characters is fun. Like I don’t want SSJ4 Gogeta or Z Broly to be balanced, they’re meant to be overpowered

One nitpick I have, is that Jirens full power transformation is utterly garbage. It's low quality and false completely flat. I'd love for them to fix that soon. There's a couple transformations that are pretty lame but Jirens is especially awful.

I agree 100% on the controls issue. This is the first time i’ve played a BT3 type dragonball game since I was a kid. I use classic and sometimes my controls just switch, or outright stop working. It’s so infuriating. Still love the game, I really enjoy the chaos of each matches honestly. People hiding in buildings or playing around the towers and structures as they are collapsing. I know it can be impossible to tell what’s happening at times (mainly because of the camera in my opinion), but being uncomfortable and the game being a little janky really takes me back to being that kid again.
With dedication and patience (praying to dev team), I’m sure this game will age very well.

the normal dash is to avoid ki blast press the z dash once to do its in their direction and then u can move freely ore press z dash twice to get behind them. it's not nit-picking it's simply a skill issue.

And i think the camera being jank when someone is above u can b fixed by using standard controls and using X and A to teleport or using the dash/ spacing to strategically place yourself where ur not at a disadvantage as the movement system has more thought put into it than you think. They made everything too easy to do imo. There’s no reason for super counters, z counters and perception moves to be this easy. I was a master at bt3 and could never do super counters on a consistent level at all. The fighting is extremely fast paced (a lil too fast imo) but flight is slow unless you home in. You were spot on with the combo chains not inputting that’s probably my biggest issue with the fighting other than that the UI of the game is terrible in the character selection and online battle sections. Love the game overall tho
TOO EASY? Nah, man, that's crazy. The game is insanely fast-paced, and doing super counters as well as dodging ultimate attacks that are unblockable is LITERALLY FRAME PERFECT. As someone who played BT3, I do feel Sparking Zero is easier because the controls are much better, in my opinion, and it's easier to find everything you can do in the game. But saying the game is too easy? No fucking way.
I do agree with some of the stuff you say, though. The character select screen really needs some work, flight (if you're not homing in) is pretty slow, and sometimes the controls can be unresponsive.

They definitely oversold the episode battles. They made it seem like you'll play thru the story and totally alter what happened historically. For the most part everything still happens the same with a few wins and losses differing.

Honestly solid video. Im glad someone points out criticism for the game. Hell, i thought my controller was bugged whenever the game wouldn't allow me to specific actions like the sweep if the combo was too long. Dont get me wrong, i love the game and having a blast playing with friends and coworkers.

My issues are lack of costumes and accessories as promised, but I know that’s coming. The bigger issues are the button lag issues on and offline and the UP square counter technique. It’s the only counter that just doesn’t hit as it should.
I share all of the complaints of the poster. This is why there should’ve been a public demo/beta test. Hopefully everything is patched soon.
The only effort went into the actual characters/graphics and the mechanics. Everything outside of that is just meh overall. Clearly unfinished. No recolors, very little outfits, lack of stages, bugs and just terrible UI design. The character picking roster literally looks like an alpha version.
I still enjoy the game a lot, but it's obvious they didn't have time or resources to polish it before launch. That's what it looks like to me atleast. If they didn't ask a base price of 70 for this or 100 euro's if you get the deluxe edition I wouldn't critic it as harshly but they asked for a ludicrous amount of money for very little actual content. It's supposed to be casual but the most you can do as a pve player is custom battle for continues replayability.
Outside of the fighting and the characters which are superb imo this game hasn't got much going for it right now. If more content is added that we don't have to pay for that would help. I know they are planning on milking the SZ playerbase with overexpensive dlc anyway.
my biggest problem is the removal of the ki strain system which prevented ki spam, if you spammed moves your charge will get slower and slower
I 100% agree with you! Dosen't make sense you can do afterimage and power up ultimate but not have the draw back like slowing down your charge up on ki
I think they’ve still got time to make some new stuff for it. But as it is right now, there is definitely a lack of content outside of online battles to keep you coming back. One man can only stand so much vegito

I dont agree that we need less destruction. Its one of my favorite aspects of the game. I do however agree with the controls. They just dont always seem to work. Something i wanna do the ultimate and just cant. I even stop doing everything and try to use ultimate but it doesnt work until i used a super charge up again and somehow than it does work. Also atter getting into sparking i wanna rush behind the opponent but istead the character is grabbing in the air while the opponent is on the other side of the map. Also when i transform the characters get stuck in a charging animations and i cant do anything for some time.
I hope they already fixed it. I didnt have internet for the last 2 weeks because the construction workers hit the cable somewhere. So now i need to wait till the 31st for them to repair it
I thought that was just me, even when I try to switch out or transform, the transformation will pop up and it’s highlighted so ik I can do it but it will just make me start attacking or do nothing at all
You’re wrong about the grabs, you can perform a grab regardless of if you are near your opponent. You are whiffing grabs. It’s a punishable mechanic

My problem is the controls randomly freak out and change randomly to standard when set to classic even when playing offline episode battles. Also the fact that the ai sometimes does certain actions that are not possible for a human at all. Like when I charge a punch or kick to send them flying away so i can charge ki and they recover instantly and start punching me again without getting sent back even an inch. Dealing with these two issues has seen me hitting retry over and over again due to not being able to send the ai away and also not being able to counter due to the controls changing mid fight every 10 seconds. Another example is when I do one perfect z vanish behind them after they try attacking me and they do the same but I can't do the next one due to the button for it changing.
Perception ruins what made combo strings fun to do in BT3.

Frankly, love it or hate it I am happy they at least added new mechanics to the fighting system. Each game installment should build upon the last.
And I say this as an old head that played all the OG BT games as they released. Note, I do like how BT3 plays a little better, but I’m not mad at them for changing stuff up is my point.

I completly agree on the controls locking up, that shit fr pisses me off when I am in dire moments, and it even happens when I'm on online mode, I really hope Bandai patches that

13:58 I think they did the story this way because they used cutscenes for other characters stories to kinda tell some of those fights. I haven’t played many so I could be wrong but it seemed like they didn’t want us playing the same fights that they told in other cutscenes.

I dont understand how there's 975 thousand options for defense from the front but you are straight uo screwed if someone teleports behind you. Even Xenoverse 2 left you press backwards + punch to attack behind yourself

A lack of fighting stages and lack of outfits is mostly my main complaint. I'm just getting bored with some of the stages already, They used to have a destroyed version of almost every map back in DBZ: BT 2&3. Im sure more content is coming but bandai has been god awful for dlc pricing over time since xenoverse 2

· Barebones in terms of content
· Movesets are too barebones (only 2 supers and an Ultimate during Sparking)
· No crossplay
· Not much variety because everyone seems to get the same type of super
· Reused animations
· Animations can be quite stiff and awkward
· Supers/Ultimates lack impact
· Supers/Ultimates will miss for no reason at all
· Ultimates sometimes become unblockable for no reason
· The screen is constantly obstructed and covered
· No reliable way to get people off of you
· Character select screen is bad
· The UI looks generic and worse than previous entries
· You're constantly being sucked into cutscenes and cinematics mid fight
· It doesn't go "Ready?" anymore while you fly around - it throws you straight into the fight
· Wrong translations / localization / wrong subtitles
· Beams are paper thin
· PVP health is WAY too low
· Communication errors since launch
· Character stats are enabled in ranked, why?
· Ragequitters are not punished
· Development was rushed to push Goku Mini pre-orders and Daima DLC
· The funny thing about the Sparking auto combo (aka mash 1 button for 20 hits) is that it isn't even an actual combo, you're just hitting in front of you without tracking
· Various control bugs and glitches including infinite ki charging without pressing anything, Ultimates not working, control schemes changing randomly
· Sparking is completely broken - 2-3 health bars for pressing square, triangle and getting a guaranteed Ultimate is not okay. All you need is for the enemy to mistime the extremely tight vanish counter a single time and there you go, you won
· the AI is way too overpowered and side objectives are not reasonable sometimes - the CPU will input read relentlessly, always jump behind you so you can't block the second you press the button, always counter your counter, combo you near infinitely and have inflated damage. There aren't "real" combos in the game so your reward for finally being allowed to hit them is a few punches and kicks so... yeah. They will however be helpless if you kick them away once, odd
· Bad sound effects
(The sound effects themselves are fine but sound low quality at times)
· Generic music
· Ugly looking stages
· Opponents are unresponsive to getting hit
(During staggers and such, while not bad, it looks bad at times)
· Hits are constantly covered by black and white screen flashes during supers

I definitely had my auto block and auto recovery assists on until yesterday and it was definitely making me not like the game very much.. 😅😂😂

Never over hype a game period
I'm awful at fighting games, but I loved BT3 growing up, so I picked this up for nostalgia's sake. There's a lot of little things that pile on that make it irritating at times. Notifications for rewards lingering too long, controls locking up, unable to turn off time limits for matches or picking characters. I think the thing most regularly annoying me are special moves taking lower priority. I'll be knocking a guy away multiple times, even if the ki button is held down. Or after you knock someone away, it takes a solid second just to follow up with a special. I just want to send out my Kamehameha before he can block all the damage again.
Longevity and rewarding is a huge flaw!

This game is weird.
It’s hard to play but it’s really spammy. You get into a rush chain and just spam whatever counter you hope will work, then you fly away and go sparking and then dragon dash into ultimate.
There are hella bugs in this game. All the characters look weird. It’s not that great.

When I played any fighting games with my friends,sometimes we would invent scenerios and dialog. Like one friend would beat Goku with Frieza and I woukd have master roshi face Frieza . And then my friend would be all " how is a mere human so powerful, I'll have to show you my true power" I would respond as Roshi with " I have tapped into an ancient human technique that allows ....andit would go on and back and forth.
I don't think your truly enjoying this game if your not constantly making up your own what ifs in your head

Another small thing is when you get hit with an *"Ultimate"* you are in search mode and it takes you days to find your opponent...this should only be a thing if someone uses *"Solar Flare"* on you, because in BT3. You actually had a search button and you find your opponent QUICK ! The amount of times some has hit me because I couldn't find them. I give the game a solid 9/10. It will be a 10 after they fix all these issues lbs. I also agree because this is from the greatest DB game franchise in history that people are overlooking issues because they are having too much fun. I agree with all of your combat issues; I run into all of them. One problem is I think vanish should cost a skill point. It’s pretty dumb when it happens for like a min back and forth. Would make it to where you have to be strategic as to when you try and combo. Basically what the ninja storm games do with substitution jutsu
@ZacharyLane-t4k I gotta disagree lol. I really disliked when storm did that. To be far you can teleport without trigger an attack so you can end the never ending teleport battle. It's actually a strategy to do that to throw people off.
@@Grimpachi but you can rush in without any thought ALL the time because there is infinite vanishes. Like you’ll have someone dogged; they’ll have no ki, no skill points and I’ll catch them in the back and then they STILL get to vanish. That’s a big issue for me because there is no penalty for haphazardly comboing. I don’t like ninja storm that much anymore, but they got it right there. You had to bait the person into subbing and then when they have none, that’s when you go into action. And vice versa, you’d have to play mad defensively and actually use blocks when you’re out of vanishes. And this would also apply to the vanish attacks. I’m cool with it being another bar on the HUD start out with 5 and have then replenish over time/when to deal/take damage. Would make it more of a skill thing vs a thing people spam
I'm playing on Xbox Series S and the environmental destruction has been turned down a lot. If a character goes through something that can be destroyed, it just disappears with some smoke effects. It's terrible. I want all the crumbling and stuff to make it more immersive. Also another complaint is I've never been able to blow up any planet or have that cut scene trigger at all. I've gotten the world tournament one to trigger but honestly it's animation has been turned down as well. Not sure if this happens on series X models but as of right now the series S is the wrong way to play Sparking Zero in my opinion.
The only issue I have is that every time I try to transform w toppo I get a bluescreen (error) and get sent back to my home screen.

I mostly play split screen & me & the homie pick 5 Random’s. I get that we are going to get a Goku or Vegeta or fusion of them every time but the move sets aren’t unique enough. They all have kamehameha or gallick gun. I wish each character had a 3rd super. 2 seems so limiting & every move has to have a cut scene. I feel like only ultimates & grabs should

An "online focused" fighting game is not something I want. This game is great. But man I miss dragon Sim and split screen tournaments
@nathonz me too. That's the sad reality of fighters today. Credit to them for not being completely devoid of single player content but it's definitely lacking.
The game is really good and i think the game is really good but you have a great point with these problems, i think if these problems are fixed, 2v2s are added, and cross play is added, the game will become generational
I just think there is nothing to do in the game, a raid boss mode with friends would be fun, more co-op stuff
I definitely agree my buttons don’t seem to register properly. I do a combo to send my enemy flying and I want to combo a special into that and half the time I rush towards the enemy and the game doesn’t register my Square or Triangle input
@tkuzava22 make sure all assist are off. It helps. Won't happen but other things might lock your controls so it's not perfect
Sparking mode is an absolute terrible feature for me in this game and its biggest problem. I wonder who at Bandai thought a way to do nearly 2 bars worth of damage was a good idea. Ranked online is basically who gets their sparking first
Rush attacks still land while you’re on the ground, some ultimate attacks you can’t block. Instant cut scene. DBSS Goku spirit bomb example
I've never had an issue with the camera at all. The only issue that I had with the camera is frost. Is ultimate is bugged, after he launches it. He gets stuck in the center of it and it doesn't go away until you switch characters and even then it just floats there but you are not stuck in anymore
Ninja storm 4 story was amazing never watched the show. It did great explaining everything. Huge db fan and I prefer how Ninja storm 4 did it. Keep the sparking episodes but they should've added more to the main story mode

Customization and movesets are sorely lacking, and some balance adjustments were not considered like bans in ranked.
I think most players like myself are ignoring this because the game is so faithful to Tenkaichi, and It's clear from a business perspective they rushed this game out due to Akira's death and Daima release. It lacks polish, but looking at Fighterz, Breakers and Xenoverse support and the record breaking sales for this game I'm not too worried

The game is DEFINITELY beautiful, but there are a few characters that aren't quite right, like teen Goku wearing boots instead of those bruce lee shoes.
