I saw this in the movie theater with my 2 girlfriends when I was 16 yrs old. Loved Peter Frampton - still do! I saw it 17X! No exaggeration. It's still one of my favorites ever! Never thought I would enjoy a movie/musical that had no speaking in it as much as I did. JUST A GREAT GREAT MOVIE!

I was a young girl when I saw this. I was torn with wanting to be Strawberry Fields and Lucy. It’s obvious why anyone would want to be Strawberry, but when Dianne Steinberg appeared as Lucy I was mesmerized by her beauty and voice. Great movie. In times like we are in now, I wish the boys would come home!
You know this has aged better....I know so many purists hated it when it came out...but it's a celebration of their music and so many wonderful musical performances captured forever!!!
I never saw it because I thought in my 12 year old mind that this was blasphemy against the Beatles even though I was a HUGE Frampton, Martin, Burns, fan. And Bee Gees too.
When my husband and I met 4 years ago, we were both surprised to find out that each of us had always loved this move. We both had the DVD and CD and LP! It was a trip because I had never met anyone who either knows it or loves it. We both still watch the DVD quite often.
Always enjoyed this movie since accidentally seeing it as a small child (even though the Alice Chopper bit TERRIFIED me!) - the surprise is that a lot of the covers here (Getting Better, Good Morning Good Morning, Got 2 Get U Into My Life) sound superior 2 the originals!
I remember watching this as a kid in the theatre...knew it was fluff even then, but I've gotta admit - I just watched it last night on a streaming service and it was frickin' great! They must have had a blast making it, and the Bee Gees in particular did some great pantomime acting in this one. It's silly, but that's the point.
Many may hate this movie, and in another universe, I would, too. But I was 10 years old and my father, god rest his soul, sat in the theater for the entire movie just so I can see my heroes, The Bee Gees in all their fantasy glory, while his heroes, The Beatles, are being drugged through the dirt. I think this contributed to his first heart attack 4 years later. He hated this movie, and the Bee Gees (post-"Lonely Days") but he did it for me. This, and the first Indiana Jones and the first Star Wars are the only movies we've ever watched together when I was kid. So this holds special memories. Especially, the EWF, Steve Martin, Bee Gees, and Aerosmith moments. It's a horrible movie. It really is by all definitions, but special to me regardless.
Cheesy movie, but I had this double disc album when I was a child. The remakes were really well done and it opened my eyes to the greatness of the Beatles.

If I remember correctly, everyone involved with this movie was given the impression it was with the Beetles consent. Most have tried to just not talk about it, and brush it under the rug. This is one of those "cult classics" for me though, a little bit embarrassing but I still love it. It is so great seeing other musicians take on the songs. Plus, some of the facial expressions are amazing!! (On this channel, they've got a video "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Why We Love It" & around the 15 second mark it's just pure gold).
They were asked and they said that album came after drug influence, and never liked it. They never payed attention to it. And even the Bee Gees said that if it wasn´t for them, anybody would remember that Beatles album.
Hi Diane, you were so much fun in the movie. Lucy in the sky with your dance moves was a major hit with me. Should have been a hit single on Billboard. How much fun you must have had starring in the film with Frampton and the all star cast at the finale. Every woman on the planet wished they were you on that waterbed with Peter in 1978. You cruising in a limo in LA with the Diamonds coming to life on a huge Billboard. I am a big fan of the movie and have a wall dedicated to it all of these years later with the Frampton outfits from the movie in Shadow Boxes. So great to see you on here.
In my honest opinion, this movie is up there with Rocky Horror as one of the greatest cult movies I have ever watched. I remember highly enjoying this movie when I first saw it on TV and I still thoroughly enjoy it to this day. I absolutely love Earth Wind and Fire's rendition of "Got To Get You Into My Life" which is one of the big highlights of the movie for me and the story is just super cheesy and it looks like everyone is having fun when they are performing the songs. This movie is one of my favorites ever and I have the Peter Frampton Bee Gees soundtrack on vinyl and occasionally will spin it to listen to Aerosmith's "Come Together" or even George Burns singing "Fixing a Hole". Some might consider this movie so bad it's good, I consider it a genuinely fun movie that is one of the greatest cult films of it's time only overshadowed by Rocky Horror. I highly suggest everyone watch it. It's definitely an interesting take on The Beatles music with some really odd choices including "Shes Leaving Home" done by robots.

Saw this movie once when I was a starry-eyed middle schooler. That was the day I became an Aerosmith fan for life (I''m 55). Mm, they look so sexy in those stormtrooper costumes. 😁 In Steven Tyler's autobiography he says that he did his death scene 20 times because he loved falling 30 feet into that airbag. Every time he fell he got to look up Sandy's dress, or as he put it, check out Strawberry's shortcake.

Actually, I came here from some Nas the rapper mv... but one leads to another, and me, who is also a Beatles fan, sees any Beatles-related stuff, i'll gladly watch😊👍
It was truly ahead of its time. Think of all the musicals that have been assembled out of the songbooks of various acts. It would have done a lot better nowadays.
The only way I found out about this is literally because I googled franki vallis character in the sopranos and I went down this rabbit hole of gabagool and Aerosmith’s cover of come together and now I’m here
Have I got a story for y’all! John Lennon was once on a flight that should have lasted about two hours. In a badly thought-out attempt at flattery, the flight crew decided that this mess should be the in-flight film. He smiled through his pain, signed a few autographs for the passengers, and tried not to self-destruct as the movie dragged on and finally ended. Then one of the plane’s engines went down. The pilot spoke to everyone in the cabin: “Ladies and gentlemen, our engine failure will result in a two-hour delay as we fly at limited speed. We apologize for this inconvenience. To make up for this, *we will replay our in-flight movie* free of charge. Thank you for understanding.”
I was thinking about how a better 'Sgt Pepper' movie could have been made, and I came up with a potential treatment using only the 13 songs on the original Beatles album. Maybe this treatment probably wouldn't make a great movie, but it would make a better movie than what came out in 1978.
Sgt. Pepper retires from making music and becomes his grandson Billy Shears' music teacher. Billy has a band in high school, and Sgt. Pepper helps them with their music. They name themselves Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band because they don't have girlfriends ("Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"), and they get by because they help each other out. ("With a Little Help From My Friends") The lead guitarist has a crush on a girl in high school, Lucy. ("Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds") They start going out. Sgt. Pepper realizes that the band is honing its skills quite well ("Getting Better") even as they hold down cruddy part-time jobs, like the bass player, who works for a home improvement company. ("Fixing a Hole") The drummer finds true love with another girl in school. Lucy wants to be an artist, and she can't communicate with her parents, so she runs away to seek her fame and fortune, leaving her boyfriend bereft. ("She's Leaving Home") Lucy's father, Mr. Kite, is really upset, so Sgt Pepper's Band plays a show to raise money to help him find Lucy. The show is held with a traveling circu , with other acts to bring in the families with little kids. The circus is owned by Mr. Kite's bretoher, who performs in the circus. ("Being For the Benefit Of Mr. Kite!") A lady clown catches Billy's attention while Sgt. Pepeprs band plays; she thinks he's cute. She takes him back to her motor home after the show and removes her costume and makeup and turns out to be a gorgeous woman, a few years older than Billy, and they sleep together. They talk about the meaning of life in afterglow. ("Within You, Without You") The lady clown asks Billy if they will stay together despite the age difference. ("When I'm Sixty-Four") The circus leaves town, but Billy and his new girlfriend vow to keep a long-distance romance going. Eventually, the bass player finds a girlfriend when, just after high school graduation, sees a parking meter attendant writing up a ticket when he parks the band's van in a NO PARKING zone. Her name is Rita; they start dating. ("Lovely Rita") Billy's circus girlfriend returns to town - with Lucy, who wants to go home. Everyone is happy when Lucy returns in the A.M. hours. ("Good Morning, Good Morning") The band gets a recording contract, Billy is grateful to his grandfather and they leave for the big city. The end. The musical sequences are Sgt. Pepper's Band performing in concert the songs their beginnings inspired, and the movie's plot is told in flashbacks. The last song they play at the end of the movie is the hard-rocking "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" reprise. "A Day In the Life" plays over the closing credits.
I will admit publicly for the first time in 40 years that I actually owned this album before I owned the original Beatles album. But I now have 2 vinyl copies of the Beatles album, and no idea where this one ended up.
This is truly one of the most bizarre experiences I ever had. I wonder if some edible help would make this movie make more sense. But a really cool thing is I got to have Lucy in the Sky on my podcast. Diane Steinberg Lewis is such an amazing lady with so many stories.

It was truly ahead of its time. Think of all the musicals that have been assembled out of the songbooks of various acts. It would have done a lot better nowadays.
The only way I found out about this is literally because I googled franki vallis character in the sopranos and I went down this rabbit hole of gabagool and Aerosmith’s cover of come together and now I’m here
Who loves THE RUTLES..?
A legend that will last a lunchtime!
Me!!
It kind of went over my 9 year old head at the time but yeah.
Fwiw,I only watched the movie because the Bee Gees was on it. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't heard of the Beatles.
never thought I'd see the movie this clear
Who’s here because they saw this on peacock? You can’t right now because it left and it’s now on showtime :( oh well hopefully it comes back.
Cousin Kevin from the Tommy movie is also in this.
Anything with earth wind and fire can’t be all that bad ....surely?
Have I got a story for y’all!
John Lennon was once on a flight that should have lasted about two hours. In a badly thought-out attempt at flattery, the flight crew decided that this mess should be the in-flight film. He smiled through his pain, signed a few autographs for the passengers, and tried not to self-destruct as the movie dragged on and finally ended.
Then one of the plane’s engines went down. The pilot spoke to everyone in the cabin:
“Ladies and gentlemen, our engine failure will result in a two-hour delay as we fly at limited speed. We apologize for this inconvenience. To make up for this, *we will replay our in-flight movie* free of charge. Thank you for understanding.”
Never heard that. That's hysterical and serves him right.
THE BEE GEES AND THE BEATLES 🪨 🎸 🤘 🥌 ROCK!!!
I have only seen clips of this film I hope I can see the whole movie
("She's Leaving Home")
Lucy's father, Mr. ("When I'm Sixty-Four")
The circus leaves town, but Billy and his new girlfriend vow to keep a long-distance romance going.
Maybe that would've been a better movie.
Looks a lot better than yesterday
The magical weather vane named Billy Preston saves Peter Frampton from jumping off a roof.....if you know you know
HALLOWEEN was only the *second* scariest Donald Pleasance movie in 1978.
This trailer is better than the movie!
we havevinyl of this album.and still have.
I will admit publicly for the first time in 40 years that I actually owned this album before I owned the original Beatles album. But I now have 2 vinyl copies of the Beatles album, and no idea where this one ended up.
The only good thing about this movie is Barry Gibb's amazing good looks ❤️
Exactly. That’s why I’m going to be watching it.
@@BGWhisperer he's so gorgeous ❤️... the song he sings at the end of the movie, the way he brush his hair ...☺️❤
@@Melke.2024Yeah. Now we know how he gets that blow-out look. 😉
He was an ultra-gorgeous man.
It's an awesome movie
This is truly one of the most bizarre experiences I ever had. I wonder if some edible help would make this movie make more sense. But a really cool thing is I got to have Lucy in the Sky on my podcast. Diane Steinberg Lewis is such an amazing lady with so many stories.
I feel I just woke up on another universe I’ve never heard about this movie before and I know a lot of Beatle history but literally just woke up to this wtf!
I saw this film and real talk the best part about the whole film is the performance by Earth wind and fire real talk
I saw it in the theater.
"Are you going to rent this movie, sir?"
"Why? I've just seen the best bit."
Super Maravilha este asistir este filme no cinema nos anos ** 80´s cine ROXY Ali na av celso Garcia em sao paulo capital..
Can't wait for your blu ray edition!
2:26 was probably Pleasance’s face when he saw then completed film, too.
The funny thing about this film is everybody in it but the The Beatles
Looks like a LOT of gazing into space in this picture.
I saw this in the theater on a horrible blind date and remember it being really bad, in spite of having a huge crush on Peter Frampton. Not sure if the date affected my opinion...maybe I need to watch it again.
