We couldn't agree more, Tonneli! Feel free to reach out to us on our website: vashonhousehold.org if you want to continue the conversation about how all the islands in the region can work together!
Thank you so much for creating this timely video! I had no idea there are literally dozens of students at the high school who do not have a reliable place to sleep at night, and are considered homeless.
Thank you so much Diane for watching! There are many ways the full extent of the housing crisis isn't totally visible to everyone who lives here. Feel free to pass this video on to anyone who you think would want to know more, and don't hesitate to get in touch if you want to get involved: vashonhousehold.org
Fantastic video! As a Vashon resident for 40 years, the changes over the past 5 have been staggering. The cost of living is difficult to overcome driving many off island to shop elsewhere or ultimately relocate to Pierce or Kitsap county. I'm not suggesting a Kama'aina rate or anything, but affordable housing is just one piece of the puzzle. I would love to see some studies on similar areas that have transitioned to weekend destinations or summer housing for the wealthy. Capitalism is complicated and we all need to carve out a spot regardless of our financial resources. I love the effort and visibility Vashon HouseHold is bringing to this weird little island. Good on ya' Now, if you could bring back the Mud-Boggs with eBikes and Electric cars that would be stellar. iHydro Racing?
That's a great idea, Edward! We've been talking about doing a study on our own island, but will definitely take a closer look to find other studies on communities with similar challenges
Beautiful video! And affordable housing on the island is such an important issue. I love hearing from the residents, educators, and businesses on Vashon!
@@DC-vq6ri You can find much better paying jobs in larger cities. You can make new friends wherever you go if you are open-minded. Family? Usually is the main source of people's misery.
This is so important. All our islands need advocates like this for workforce housing , great work!

I've never been to Vashon, but from what I've seen of the pictures and the videos I've fallen in love and would love to move there
Why live in a place so hostile to people with less money? US is a vast country and so many fantastic and affordable places all over the country.
Why be hostile to people with less money? Why not help people afford to live where they have families, jobs, friends, community?
