Yes both the 8 and 12 should do well as in your demo with the crossover at 120hz. Where the 12 shines over the 8 would be if you used a lower crossover point such as 80hz. Also if I were to purchase the 12 it would do better as a stand alone speaker in situations where I did not have the sub.

Sounded very similar, maybe a bit more mids in the 12, but really interesting that the Everse 12 isn't actually running 5dB higher as per EV specs... Thanks for these tests!

maybe if one would max them out in a better way than I did.. you would see the extra ability shine more. This was a crude/bedroom type testing :)

    How are you mixing them?

The 8" is crazy good for its size and is probably good enough for majority of applications. The 12" will of course give a slightly fuller sound which audiophiles might appreciate and a tiny bit more oomp when it matters but still negligible difference compared to the smaller speaker on day to day operation. If your back is ok to carry the heavies then go with it, if else save your body and go with the 8" if you lug these speakers around most of the time.

Ya? Well MAYBE You need to run the 8" and The 12" both Together? Are they array able?

Otherwise i'm gonna have to give you a 10" if you're gonna complain about it?

Nice test, it's very interesting. Are you going to test the ZLX-8P-G2 or ZLX-12P-G2 in the futur ?

Greetings! I'm solving this dilemma now :) I have Everse 8. I compared the sound with my Jbl Eon One Comact and Roland Cube Street Ex. The relevant videos are on my channel. I was very pleased with the sound of Everse 8. As a result, I sold two of my JBL speakers (2021 and 2022) and am thinking about buying another one! Again, Everse 8 or Everse 12, which I plan to use in the city alternately. I used to do the same with Jbl Eon One Comact. But there is a different space everywhere. Where there is less, I think Everse 8 is better, where there is more, Everse 12 is better. Transportation on a 6-wheel trolley for bags. The Everse 12 is, of course, bigger and heavier. Whether to buy Everse 12 or not, I cannot decide, and there is no way to hear the difference in sound between them live.

There's a reason that many very high end audiophile speakers only have 6 inch drivers. The smaller drivers deliver midrange sound better than larger drivers. Taking the 12" ability to flex what it's made for, and cut it off at only 120 hz, is like what Tanya Harding did to Nancy Kerrigan. Crossovers should really only ever be set to the MAX of 100hz I'd say... I'd run 80 or 90, especially when you have a big 15" woofer that is just going to sound awful with the upper bass frequencies. The sub will have WAY more impact at those low-end zones it's designed to fill, and the mains will be able to transmit the deeper midrange sounds more clearly than the sub will.
A better comparison would be to run each speaker at it's full range without the sub, then do this same video again with the crossover set at a lower point.
I'd be willing to bet 90% of the people looking at the EV12 are DJs, and bands/buskers would be happier with the EV8.

So for someone owning a pair of Everse 8 would you suggest getting a elx 200 sp or pair of subs or getting a pair of Everse 12? Did a gig with a pair of Everse 8 with some no name subs but hit the limit sooner than my expectations!! Singer with instrumentals here. Thanks

Just wanted to chime in I have the QSC KS212C dual 12” subwoofer and my new EV EKX15sp absolutely puts it to shame in bass output and deep bass tones. While the QSC is great it limits out extremely fast the 3600 watts def does nothing greater and it’s always in cardioid mode. The EV however is switchable for cardioid and the wood cabinet design and the lighter weight puts it ahead. I love QSC but the 212c just does not have the power it should draw and I’m a big QSC fan. Will be selling my KS212c for another EV EKX15sp. I hate the wide design of the QSC it is too wide under a table while the EKX is so compact, lightweight and perfect. Can’t wait to sell it. And I paid $1099 for the EV I got a killer deal.

Go outdoors to see the difference in performance between the two. You’ll be VERY relived you spent the extra on the 12’s.

Why is it that everything sounds the same in this video? I can't hear any difference. That can't be right. Please use better equipment when recording, thank you.

It's because he set the crossover to 120hz, which essentially cut the balls off the EV12. If anything, it made the EV12 sound quieter than the EV8. And yes, the mic sounded like it was being recorded on a cell phone
