[SCUM v0.95] Horde Server Settings Review - Incomplete Documentation

- Just like you, I've been waiting for proper documentation for the new Horde Encounter settings for SCUM v0.95 ... and what we got was (as some have posted on discussion board) probably written by an intern and an incomplete total rush job. I was hoping we would get some sort of update to a more completed doc, but instead we got two more hotfixes!? So we'll have to make due with what we have ... so let's try and unwrap this gift of gifts we've been given (sarcasm intended) in more of a review and discussion format ... podcast style, maybe.
Let's try something new: Leave a comment below with what you would like to see in the game.
By the way thanks for helping me hit 500 subscribers! Now all we need is about 400 more watched hours and we can start earning some coffee money!! If you like this video or any of my content, please considering subscribing (its free) and hit that thumbs up icon!
Thank you for this video as a server owner it gets harder and harder to keep my server running. I just wish that the Dev's would use simple language for those of us that are not super computer savvy. Keep up the great work and thank you again.
Thank you! Even with me being a programmer and understanding how this generally is done, it still baffles me when they don't give us straight forward information. I am still on the fence, on whether I want to keep running a server or not.
Good info. I really appreciate the clarification here. Its technical and hard to come by. Appreciate ya!
Thanks man, appreciate the kinds words. Hang in there, it'll get sorted out ... soon.
I've been trying to figure out these horde settings for like two weeks since Its description is so vague. Thanks for the In depth info
Thanks! I'll put out more info as we get closer to figuring it all out.
So pretty much I’m a new player. I logged in single player and had zombies spawn on me (next to me and glitched in the walls 😂) after clearing a house, still doesn’t make much sense. But you helped me improve my SP server settings
I'm glad I was able to help. Yes, we heard they are still working on the spawning issues, hopefully it will be taken care of soon. Overall playing single player seems to be the right way to go, for now. Over the past month I've talked about SCUM changes during my live streams like in one stream labeled "Unscheduled SCUM" and also this one you might find interesting at time: 46:31 th-cam.com/video/F3hBUhtCYnA/w-d-xo.html&
do you think you will make an updated video for the newer encounter settings? love this video just well a bunch of these settings as you know have been removed from the backend
I definitely will, but unfortunately right now they are still changing things without telling us, that its almost impossible to keep it accurate. Honestly tho, at this rate, I might end up just making a "this is what we have to work with" settings video.
They completely fucked up the puppet settings. I hate it. Good Video.
Yeah they broke the game and frustrated the hell out of server owners. Won't be back in there until server settings are resolved and geared toward the admin hosting servers to be able to configure their servers without issues or guessing at the settings.
@@NordwulfLive I watched a few of your videos, I've been trying things you have covered on my server. I have not figured out anything that really works. I really liked that shot you took at RK btw that was hilarious.
@@cultofgaming3436 Let me know if there is anything specific you are trying to do and I will try and get some answers to get you going.
@@NordwulfLive Hey, thanks I think I have everything set at a tolerable amount but it's still not very good. It doesn't even matter since anyone who used to be on my server doesn't play the game anymore, LOL. I have been playing a bit over the past two weeks just to see if I can force myself to get used to how the gameplay is now with the hoards but it is rough.
You're not alone, lets hope the investors light some fires and get things fixed.
They change everything except the one that people complaining about.i welcome the horde update but what is the need of removing a lot of setting that are good & easy to understand, like how you can change interior & outdoor spawn setting.& I'm pretty sure sometime puppets dissapear just from your character turn 360..
Yep! That's when I shut down my server and said buh-bye!
I agree with pretty much everything your saying. I feel more information about all settings in game would be greatly appreciated my personal issues with this update is aggro puppets appearing out off nowhere when players go afk, cool down of hordes should roughly be around 1-2 minutes to short when dealing with hordes and lastly suppressors are not working to prevent hordes and puppet agro.
I turned my spawn aggro down to like 10 or 15%, as it seems anything higher than that always got aggro. In my opinion the cooldown is still screwed up and not working as it should. We have been trying it in both 5 minutes and 10 minute settings (in seconds). Yeah the suppressors are useless, I was using one of my M9 and sounds basically the same, and I got slaughtered by the masses.
Been messing with some settings in single player , is this your single player settings? Also i have noticed when i die in single player my body is gone and can not loot my corpse? Is there a setting for this or just a bug?
I use these settings for both, but for single player since it’s just me I bump up the loot and skill increase because , why not lol - as to the disappearing corpse, we been experiencing that also, seems to be a bug and haven’t found a fix yet. I’ll report back if I do.
@@NordwulfLive Awesome , ty for the reply and feedback also.
You've probably already tried, but just putting it out there, have you tried logging out and back in when you get to where your body should be? That does sometimes work in multi-player, Dunno
i cannot edit Zombie settings no more since the Horde update. This game (To me) is broken.
i HATE the way this game has changed.
These are MY thoughts. i play this game Solo (Single Player) only.
You're not alone in that feeling. Waiting to see if they ever release a hot fix.
is there access to this word doc? also are there other server settings broken down like this? please and ty!
Working on a new updated detailed server settings video about all the settings we have available at this time. Should be up sometime next week. Also will see if I can get a hold of a cleaned up and updated version of the document and make it available as a link on that video when its release. Stay tuned.
@@NordwulfLive Hey Nord,
Any update on this video? Would really like to understand the settings a bit more thank you
Hi , What needs to be done for zombies to appear in the flag area? When you throw a flag on the server, zombies do not appear.
Technically they are not suppose to spawn in a flagged area, but there is a possibility that they still might ... my best answer, broken game. :)) be prepared for anything - welcome to scum
@@NordwulfLive I know I've been in this world for 970 hours. Now I want to set up a server. That's why zombies must appear in flag areas. The server has to be extremely difficult. 😊
Hi there! Thank you for the information you provided. Just wanted to ask one thing. I play single player with high number of puppets and 10x damage. So when enter a bunker let's say, I want to clear it once, and I don't want puppets to keep respawning from the rooms I already cleared. I figured below setting, which is in the dev's explanation would do that. But it doesn't. Puppets spawn in less than a minute or so, and they break doors and corner me inside the bunkers. Do you know which setting would prevent them from respawning when I'm still inside the poi?
Setting_EncounterCharacterRespawnBatchSizeMultiplier:
Sets the size of respawn waves for entities:
note: For some of you that want to set the POI to be clear once cleared till everyone leaves the POI try setting this to 0.
I can't guarantee it, because Devs are still messing with these settings to try and fix some of the broken ones. However for what you are trying to do, I would probably try tweaking the following settings:
EncounterCharacterRespawnTimeMultiplier and maybe EncounterGlobalZoneCooldownMultiplier
If you don't want them to burst through doors, you can also shut the down in the settings.
Thank you very much! I will try that@@NordwulfLive
I just got admin on a friend’s server so this video and explanation really helped me.
What is your average number of players on your server? A frame of reference would help me figure out a better ballpark so I can scale your base settings.
Also Speedy Gonzalez 😂. I was thinking they are Usain Bolt fast and I agree it’s ridiculous.
My server is really only used by friends and testing, so probably not an accurate base to scale from. Also with the spawning setting changes, and ongoing adjustments, its kind of difficult to pin point exact best settings. Just set, test, tweak, test, repeat ... until you find what works best for you and your server.
@@NordwulfLive the server I’m on is friends only as well, but I suppose there are just too many other unknown variables to scale off of your settings. I reckon there are really no shortcuts to simplify things like this… only trial and error.
Thank you for your feedback and quick response, I appreciate it.
@@vande2330 shoot me an email with what you are thinking of doing, I'll send over my settings with a couple of adjustments. I'm not doing anything crazy with settings on my server right now.
I dont mind the settings we have , yeah they need to be explained better but my only issue (single player settings) is the puppets spawn to quick.
Regarding puppet spawn control (not horde related): At this point I am not sure if they disabled the old settings that still exist in the serversettings.ini and not in the in-game server settings screen, but this what I set mine too (and its in seconds).
scum.ExteriorZombieSpawnerCooldownTimer=1200.000000
scum.InteriorZombieSpawnerCooldownTimer=900.000000
Greetings. Tell me if you know anything about the settings of Brener’s weapons. How can I make weapon sets spawn in them?
If I'm understanding you correctly, there are no settings for Brenner or his weapons. If you are referring to the armory, and how to make specific things spawn in the AB armories near Brenner - I haven't completed my PhD courses or Indiana Jones decipher ring, in order to understand the shitstorm of a document they gave us to decipher loot spawning. As soon as I get my head around that, I'll be making a video -- and better get paid my SCUM devs for translating that crap. LOL
Early access is a piss poor excuse. Five years? Seriously? They're not exactly using cutting edge tech, it's UE4 ffs...
It is UE4 but heavily modified, so quite different from standard UE4 as stated by a dev in a Q&A. That maybe where some of the issues come from. Just speculation on the issues part as maybe the standard UE4 would have same issues. They also lost a good portion of time developing during the pandemic as such a small team it was harder to deal with the guidelines in their country.
So is it possible to have the server settings the way they are, AND mess with the .Ini files to get more spawns in houses and the wild.. without conflict in an online server. Cause I made a suggestion in the current server I’m in, “ScumDumpster” about it not having any zombies inside building like the old days and not enough in the wild. Owner replied the settings aren’t what they use to be, those settings can’t be altered. I referred him to your video about the .INI files he said things could conflict and ruin the server.
Quick disclaimer: The devs have changed the way the zombie spawn settings work, and to date, they are still tweaking it to get it right. Having said that, the server admin is correct, things are not the way they use to be, especially because the changed made by the devs. As to the ini file changing, when the devs implemented the in-game server settings menu, they advised users to use one other (ini or in-game menu), because it might cause server conflict issues. This may or may not be true any longer, hard to tell with all the setting changes that are still unclear. However just to make sure we are on the same page: When playing on an online server, only the admin of that server can make changes to the server settings in-game menu or their server ini file, your local ini file is only meant for your local single player and does not affect someone else's server. Hope that helps, and hope they get all the settings resolved before full release. Until then, its all trial and error for the server settings and the server owners.
@@NordwulfLive okay thanks for your reply brother.
I wonder, how can i change horde spawn settings. After a horde, new horde comes. Dosent matter if i shoot a silencer or trow a spear to them.
I believe we discuss this setting at 13:15 in this video.
sigh... if you have an old ini file from a previous version, the right way is to use a freshly generated ini file from you local installation (remove any old local ini file first to let it be generated on launch) and then transfer your old values to the according settings that are still available. That way you're gonna get a clean ini that doesn't contain old and now unused properties.
That's your responsibility, please don't blame the devs for not removing your old and no more relevant settings in an ini file that originally came from a now expired game version.
I could do without the dramatic "sigh..." , but yes this is true in single player local installs but the process is different when it comes to hosting a multiplayer private server on a paid third party platform (ie Pingperfect, GPortal, etc). The process is definitely not the same, but if it was, deleting the serversettings ini file from the private server manually is a pain in the a-hole and when it comes to going back to default file and having to reconfigure the multi-server settings again from scratch. I know, before you say it ... make a backup, copy and paste is your friend. Absolutely! You know what else could happen like most programmers update and patch their existing client server systems, they run a routine in their patch update that copies all of the existing client settings, removes the obsolete or redundant settings and replaced the ini files with the existing backed up client server setting that are still relevant. This isn't foreign to me or others that have worked with updated client server applications. Even though I understand what you are saying, the situation is not as cut and dry and you try to make it out to me ... sigh
@@NordwulfLiveI understand, in my case it's easy, I just use sftp access to overwrite that ini file that's it. I don't know other service providers that make that process unnecessary hard because their backend controls that ini file in a way that you can't just update it in a simple way. Migrating from an existing ini file to a new one is no rocket science, there are good tools for migrating (like smart file comparison with ini sorter) - for me that is done in a few minutes. I don't expect professional migration functionality from a small company's game developers, it's not their focus.
What is your server please?
I'm sorry, I shut it down at the beginning of this month, until they figure out all the spawning and server settings related issues.
Why wouldn’t you be allow to say Speedy Gonzalez? I loved that show when I was a kid. He ran fast, you used it as an example? That’s like saying “they run fast like the roadrunner” nothing wrong.
I was a big fan of Looney Tunes growing up. Yeah I know its stupid, my brain automatically recalls news I read years ago about the character and how some people started complaining and got it banned, but I do believe they reinstated the character again at some point. "In 1999, Speedy Gonzales was banned from the Cartoon Network after it decided the cartoon was too offensive and reinforced negative Mexican stereotypes like speaking in a heavy accent and wearing a sombrero." Of course I also tend to make references like that, during my stream or videos, in a sarcastic way to imply how dumb I think things have gotten sometimes with people getting offended over the silliest things. Thanks for catching that tho :))
@@NordwulfLive I think it’s all dumb, if youre not deliberately slandering someone I don’t see a problem. The world is getting dumber and dumber, like that movie idiocracy 😂
that's a non-america game for you. bunch of bs at its finest
