- My June 1993 family visit to now defunct Six Flags AstroWorld theme park in Houston, Texas. I grew up near Dallas, but I made three memorable trips to the park before it closed in 2005. This season was the debut for "Batman The Escape" stand-up rollercoaster. Also includes season entertainment including the "Incredible Acrobats of China", "South of the Border" Diving Team show, "Horizon Theater" 180-degree projection show, and the unique "Great Texas Longhorn Revue" animatronics show. #sixflags #history #astroworld

I spent most of my childhood at Astroworld... I often try to imagine it all in my mind but this video brought so much of it back to life for me. Incredible! Thank you!

A theme park that went extinct because of declining attendance not only due to the 2002 stadium, but also because of the September 11 attacks that happened in 2001.

Not a single kid is wearing sandals . That’s how it was from the late 80 to late 90s. Now like 80% would have slides or Crocs on.

It was common to have NO Tram service from the parking lot (across the expressway) to the Park. V.e.r.y. .l.o.n.g. . walk. Very hard for older people too.
It was only common in the later years. Prior to that, it was ALWAYS available. It would have been unthinkable at one time to make everyone walk over the bridge.
This was incredible and put me back in memorie lane. Thank u so much for sharing this. Brought back memories I forgot I had.

THAT WAS SO COOL to see a walkaround dog disguised as an animatronic! I SO WISH this could happen today. This park was truly experimental at the time.

i really wish I was able to experience this amazing park (I was only 3 when it was demolished). If not for corporate greed by six flags it would probably still be around today
Weren't they supposed to build an apartment complex there??? What happened???
@@bullwinkle2380 six Flags wanted to get a lot of money from selling the park. But in reality they end up paying a lot to demolish the park and only got $177 million for less than what they want. It asked for today it is sometimes used as overflow parking for a rodeo

This is the second version of the Great Texas Longhorn Revue, the All Star Texas Country Music Revue. Do you have more videos of animatronic shows at Six Flags? I know Over Texas (Arlington) had some shows like the Cyber Jazz Trio.

This is all of the video I have of six flags animatronic shows I believe. I don’t recall the one in six flags over Texas. They must’ve taken that out before I came of age. I didn’t realize this was the second version of the Longhorn review. Thank you.

Wow, brings back very early memories for me. I went here once when I was 4 in 1999 and once in 2002 when i was 7. Never got to go back before they shut it down. Had I been a year or two older I would have been tall enough to ride everything. RIP!

From what I heard Six Flags isn't interested in coming to Houston. But if you don't know about them already, there's this theme park company called Cedar Fair that I think could build y'all a new amusement park

Awesome, bro. I grew up in the suburbs of Houston, and Astroworld was a part of my childhood. We made several trips to Dallas area to Arlington for Six Flags Over Texas though, and also San Antonio for Fiesta Texas. But Astroworld was my hometown escape from reality. So nice to see these fresh memories. I even worked at the park in the summer of 1996.
and also my 17th birthday make a wish I wish I can go back in time in the early 1990s to go to astroworld theme park houston texas and go see a lot a lot of rides and and also my 17th birthday make a wish I wish I can go back in the early 1990s in new york city and go see the original world trade center 😊🎂

At 7:48 I caught a smell of the waffle cones being made for the waffle cone sundaes.
For the year, this park was stacked with good and different coasters ! Wish I visited here before it was gone!

@@jotimage I'm 41. My Baby Brother's then GF worked there in '04. He was 17 when it was demolished. We went there for the First time in. August 1993 and again for the last time in June 2004.

I was 10 years old that year. I remember this season vividly. I thought the bat cave was so cool then. This may have been the first time I rode the viper as well. I recall my parents bribing me with popcorn. Also, I love that this has xlr8 in it. That was my favorite at the time.
This place looked like a blast to visit in the 90's, hope you and your family enjoyed your vacation!

It was technically relocated from Six Flags Magic Mountain, but it was the new ride at AstroWorld in ‘93

Batman beat the heck out of my head. I think I only rode it twice. I loved the bat cave and cold room though. Best themeing that I can recall there.

Sadly, I never got to go to Astroworld, despite living in Houston for all my life. Can't win 'em all, it seems.
