At 21:30, you mention the bonus for the monk happens after you've activated the chosen column/row. Rulebook says the bonus move can actually happen at any time. So you can use place a monk and move a tile of your choice before activating the row/column in which you placed the monk. This can even mean moving a tile into the selected row/column and then getting to move it again when you activate the row/column.
Wow! Where did this game come from, hadn't heard of it. Initially it looked like a generic worker placement, but those 'puzzles' really add another element. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention.
Just got this from Kickstarter but the rules state that when u take decoration actions u actually get income based on youre level on the decoration tracks. Thats what the coin values below the tracks are for. The left side shows the extra VP u get for decorations when sword is completed.

Glad I decided to watch all the way through; looks great. Haven't seen this one anywhere else. About the bonus actions other players get when someone goes to the palace or the academy...I don't really see how they fit thematically, which makes them feel a little tacked on as if they were needed for balancing. Did you feel that way at all while playing? (EDIT: Read the rulebook and I see how they connect it to the theme now. Question still stands though since watching it being played made me feel that way...if you don't mind answering). Only other concern is the font they chose to use for the numbers. Seems to blend in on a lot of places and not "pop" off the board but maybe its not so bad in person. Thanks for the runthrough! This one is definitely on my radar now.

sorry i can't say. i suspect the solo shoudl work very well because the core craftsmanship puzzle is very multiplayer solitaire, and is a blast, but i can't say for sure. maybe some folks on boardgamegeek might have some experience with it solo though? boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/319807/shogun-no-katana/forums/0
