TEDxAustin - Craig Hella Johnson

In this hybrid talk and performance, Craig Hella Johnson of the multi-Grammy-nominated choir, Conspirare, invites us to reconnect with what makes us sing and rediscover the immeasurable within each of us.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. I had the honor of working w/ Craig a handful of times when I was younger. He is a force on nature and one of the most gifted people I know. He claims in this video that the word 'love' is overused and misused, fine, but I don't hesitate to say that I love Craig for the simple joys he has given me similar to what he begins at 12min in.

Craig always reminds us of the simple truths of what this life is all about. I wish I could remember these beautiful points daily, amidst the highs and lows, worries, trepidations and doubts. It's SO simple, if we just stay present and curious, alert and aware. It's not only about singing in your own special voice or song, but learning to listen!

Loved him during that brief stint at Augie. He has no idea the connection that very brief time there inspired my musical being. Loved his Ted Talk the first time I watched it. I love this person. So beautiful, humble, honest and boy does music and life shine through him.

I don’t care who you are. I don’t care if I will ever meet you. It isn’t relevant in me saying that everyone’s life matters. Even if you feel like nothing and you feel you will accomplish nothing, that doesn’t mean you don’t matter. Everybody who is born has a right to be a person. (I just listened to Requium so yeah but still this is important you really do matter)
