Symphony No 1 in g minor by Vasily Kalinnikov (1866-1901) 4. Movement "Finale: allegro moderato" National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine Theodore Kuchar, conductor Kiev, 02.-06.XI.1994
Superb performance! Bravo to this orchestra that played it. I love that all the woodwinds have the same interpretation. The strings were romantic as usual which is what we want. This symphony deserves to be well known
Wonderful, joyous stuff. If you don't know the slow (second) movement of this gem of a symphony then please look to your right a listen. It's astonishingly beautiful. This symphony deserves to be better known. A shout out to youth orchestras all over the world to take this up. It's near perfection. I will even come and conduct it for you!! fabulous ending, perhaps taken a little too quickly here to bring out its full majesty. Tell your friends...!
My conductor is just full of wisecracks. It's not bad. He's funny! When the orchestra was learning this song, he advised us: "Yeah, it's a Russian symphony, but that doesn't mean you can RUSH it!" Hahahaha.
