  • A scratch built 28mm Haulage Yard for Burrows & Badgers. This model is a commission build for Blackdragonminaitures.com
it came about from a conversation about demo games. This model is made from XPS foam, foamboard & balsa wood. Was great fun to make and looks smashing on the table. It took seven days from initial sketch to finished item. I don't often do commissions (although during Covid Lockdown, as I am not working I will take some on if they are interesting)

One of my favourite Magrathea builds for B&B. Totally matches the character of the Oathsworn Stoatbart miatures. They are already on my wishlist, so I guess I'll have to build them a haulage yard too. Inspiring, as always.

Thank you for this fantastic project video. Your design of the upper warehouse floor is superb. I am a big proponent of foamcore board; as you probably know, here in the States we have access to 20” x 30” sheets of easy-peel 4.7mm foamcore for a dollar, so by shucking the paper from one or both sides and (in some cases) laminating two or three layers together with hot glue, a savvy modeler can easily texture the visible surfaces and approximate varying thicknesses of XPS for walls, floors, and roofs-all with a single affordable product. Like you, I like to use the indexing method of running bits of foamcore proud to keep stacked layers of buildings in place, and lift-off panels work very well for playable interiors that don’t compromise structural integrity. Keep up the fine work, sir.

I peel the paper off my foam and texture it, I also make my own bricks from it, sometimes I use card or card board and clad that with The foam buying the thick XPS foam ( as much as I'd like it) is just not cost effective for me but I get pretty good results for less money, and I don't care much about accuracy in brick sizes etc because it's fantasy. my stuff is also inspired by German Expressionist movies of the 20's Universal Horror movies and Hammer horror films. nothing they built was ever accurate! I love Balsa. I always if I can use wood to do wooden parts, I used graphics card for metal etc I'm not a game player as such that's more my sons realm of expertise but with him being a furry I reckon he'd love the human hybrid creatures in this game. he not only builds fursuits he designs them as well and even the top people in that scene are fans of his. And your enthusiasm for this game has me interested too ( plus I've already got scenery and buildings to go with this!) So I think I may give it a look especially as it's a game for two. This is an excellent build and I always look forward to your Vids
