Yep. I saw this arcade machine as a kid. It would always say, "OPERATION... WOLF" in its grainy sound clip, which stood out among the din of the other machines. I would mess around with the plastic gun mounted to it even if I didn't have a quarter. Qbert would make a physical clunk on its cabinet with a solenoid, and as a young kid it confused me. "Is that one broken?"
6:22 You gotta' love Roy Adams. When a man single-handedly clears enemy soldiers, helicopters, and tanks out of a rural village with an Uzi, he deserves two things; a young, pretty, local woman to treat his wounds, and a pack of smokes worthy of the most ballsy badasses that military conflict can produce. Damn, I miss the 80's!
he does this all while carrying a wounded fella on his back, with no cover or concealment, totally out in the open ala Arnold in Commando (this game is basically that movie as a video game), using a pistol-caliber submachine gun against AK-47, RPG, 50 caliber guns, and copters and tanks
This came on my recommendation list after watching the new AVGN video. Out of curiosity, I checked it out to see if it has any effect on me. I don't have epilepsy, but my eyes were starting to strain after a minute so I had to resort to wearing my dark sunglasses for the rest of the video. I'm surprised there wasn't an epilepsy warning at the beginning of the game nor any epilepsy reports ever existed in its history.
AVGN wasnt kidding when he warned this game could cause seizure! The entire game have excessive flashing lights when you shoot. How did people in the 1980s and 90s play this game without suffering from headache and eye strain anyways?
Plastic, cabinet mounted Uzis. Definitely the appropriate weapon for the distance he's firing from. But it was the 80s, and Uzis were just cool because they were in action movies. Ahhnold: "UZI nine millimetah".
I have done this so many times, but to add some sort of realism to the arcade game on MAME, I use the mouse with my right hand, while I hold an Micro Uzi airsoft gun (which is unloaded for obvious safety reasons) and follow the cursor with it.
What version is this? I remember the arcade version had a blonde haired strong man wearing bullet proof vest and carrying a heavy machine as one of the villains.
I wasted a lot of my childhood and pocket money on this game first trying to beat it and then beating on a single credit which I finally achieved in 1991, and in the end I was just relieved to get it over with and avoided the game for at least a decade after.
Lol definitely the 80s. Makes me think of the movie Commando, especially the intro scene in the game when the pixelated guy is tying his combat boots and strapping on and/or taping munitions to himself. It just needs the camo paint that Ahhnold put on his face and biceps.
Thanks for the upload. Brilliant game in its day, mostly due to the fact the joystick was an Uzi. Is that some Ghosts and Goblins crap right there where you finish and it puts you right back to the start? Glad I never made it past the jungle in the arcades or I'd have been annoyed!
I never managed to beat this game; I only manages to get to the middle of the last level a few times. The most nerve-wrecking thing about this game I think were sounds indicating your strength/damage, increasing it's tempo the more bullets you catch !
I would play the shit out of this if I found it in some crappy movie theatre arcade. Especially if it had that mounted uzi with the obnoxiously loud clicking when you fired.
Headache warning too, since constant flashing can cause a type of motion sickness. That gives a you a migraine headache. The 80's, it was different time. Since games like this make Polybius look like Pac-Man.
Local round table pizza spot had this game 1 block away from where I lived at 6 years old. I used to collect quarters from save mart just to dump Them into this machine
Loved this game, even though I never made it pass the jungle. Is my memory playing games with me, but didn't the enemies sometimes throw knives or hand grenades at you? Maybe I'm mixing it up with a different game.
Hitting that 10-wheeler truck in stage 1 is only waste of bullets, the enemies are war tanks & helicopters🚁🚁🚁. You're supposed to let it pass & not blow it💥💥💥
WTF? I remember a boss in the Jungle stage. Actually he was a General or commander and he was holding a woman as a hostage and shooting at you! What happened, am I experiencing a Mandela Effect ?
I'm pretty sure the original nes version had a cross hair cause you had to aim with the D pad on the controller as oppose to the arcade machine having the using mounted with no cross hair.. thats why i loved it when i was a kid
Glad he played it on the easy setting! Setting B is Very hard . play it in setting B for a real headache ! What the jungle Mission has a Boss this is So set to easy play LOL !
I made a non-flashing version of this game if anyone is interested: th-cam.com/video/JFJg57BXsX4/w-d-xo.html

@@GhostBusters-wb4un Right on that then again 1980's gaming was really different than nowadays and really can wipe modern gamers out.

Sooo I guess this is Electric Soldier Porygon before Electric Soldier Porygon.
Ah yes. AVGN was correct. Seizure warning!
Seizure inducement confirmed... back to the rest of the AVGN ep!
LOL! We all did the same thing. Back to AVGN
@@Leoj305 Same here! But light effects doesn't look very distracting though.
I loved this game as a kid! But Avgn is why I’m here
I'm glad i wasn't the only one who did it XD
Came here after watching Avgn Episode.
SAME HAHA
Yes
And now i see why he didint include this...
Same lol
Me too
Oh man I remember the arcade machine like it was yesterday..The joystick was a huge ass uzi, with buttons on the side for grenades etc.
Oh yeah. You always knew a good arcade game when people lined up to play it.
I played this arcade game in good old arcade game halls in canary islands when I was like 9yr old having a holiday trip there with my mother.
Really don't make it like that anymore or since the 1980's.
Also really something you can't get away with if made today.
I used to think this was the best thing ever
I played this maybe 30 years ago and just randomly remembered it tonight and looked it up.
It still looks like a lot of fun. I'd play it even today
Guess they made a VR now lol

I remember when I was little. My dad and I took turns playing this game at the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona, Pa. Lots of good memories.
From Avgn I know what he’s talking about now
Same
I remember our neighborhood 7/11 had the arcade machine for this game sitting in the corner for probably a decade before it disappeared.

Got this in my recomendations after watching the new AvGN episode.
Who else? 😂
Uuah uuah uuah, hwah! Uuah uuah uuah, hwah!
hi
This game was waaaaay before the Uuah was invented...
It’s ooh rah. The USMC one. Ironic considering he clearly isn’t a Marine.
@@illgiveyathetickI thought that was the sound the enemy would make when they got hit. Weird that they all had the exact same voice. Uuah uuah uuah!

Well, I couldn't finish watching the whole video. The constant flashing white screen gave a seizure after the second stage.

I've only gotten the chance to play this once, at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire in the early 2000s

Dude, im watching this stoned as hell...animals shitting magazines, uuah beardy dudes...awesome!
yeah, the angry video game nerd sent me here. Just to see the flash seizure game play he was talking about.
Just like house of the dead
I just realized that your character HAS to be inside an armored vehicle. He could not possibly kill all those enemies naked.
The Uzi is a very accurate weapon from that distance, dontcha know.
I have done this so many times, but to add some sort of realism to the arcade game on MAME, I use the mouse with my right hand, while I hold an Micro Uzi airsoft gun (which is unloaded for obvious safety reasons) and follow the cursor with it.

pretty dum
used a lot of tokens on this so many years ago. fun times
Takes me back 32 years!
I beat this game with 2 quarters and a hit of acid.
Damn i remember this since High School.
I actually remember playing this on the NES.
I played the crap out of this game back then so many quarters wasted

In the 80s the blonde guys were always the villains.
I wasted a lot of my childhood and pocket money on this game first trying to beat it and then beating on a single credit which I finally achieved in 1991, and in the end I was just relieved to get it over with and avoided the game for at least a decade after.

In that case, may I recommend you to watch the non-seizure inducing version of this video? th-cam.com/video/JFJg57BXsX4/w-d-xo.html
Why do none of these videos have the level 2 'end of level' boss?
This video was recommended to me after I watched AVGN...ahhh YT algorithms
They had this game at my local pizza place,it was a simple time back then I would look forward to going there and getting 5 bucks to play the games.
Love this when I was a kid. It came out a few years later but Revolution X was good too. The Aerosmith shooter arcade.
Thank you for that...always wanted to see the ending
Thank you for watching!

Holy shit, the Nerd wasnt joking about the awful flashing.
the music is missing from this game in my version of mame (mame version 158b)
Oh wow, that flashing really *is* annoying.
I'm not photosensitive but I feel like if I keep watching this video I will be
Small detail, but that mission briefing music is perfect.
OH GOD
RIGHT IN THE CHILDHOOD
Jungle on loop 2 has to be one the hardest stages in all of video games.
Thanks AVGN. Didn't really have the seizure aspect that was mentioned. Just a small flash is all.
I would play the shit out of this if I found it in some crappy movie theatre arcade. Especially if it had that mounted uzi with the obnoxiously loud clicking when you fired.
I kept trying to yank the Uzi off its mount, but they bolted that thing down securely.
Holy shit I used to have this game lol
Great game but the 1000 blue Flash Screens at each Shot is to much for my eyes
This needs to be remastered 4k with full cabinet.
It would have to be a CRT. It was a light gun game. Today's TVs wouldn't work for a light gun game.
Did I really play this 30+ years ago? Yes I did 💯
AVGN brought me here but I would play the shit out of this
On the powder magazine level you should just blast all your bombs and bullets as on completion you are fully resupplied anyway

I dont get why AVGN didn't show this. Just give a seizure warning
Great game and I remember the gun used shake like a mother as well when your were firing it.

Rescue hostages and fuck up anything that moves, awesome!

The flashing ain't so bad, it's just a cyan colored frame.
