Love this video! Having been to Italy many times, I'm always interested in discovering new places to visit outside the usual tourist areas. It would be great to have this type of insight for other countries such as France and Spain as well.
Brava Kirsten, having lived in Italy and visited often. I agree, you don't have to do the big 3 to enjoy Italy. Actually, getting outside the tourist zones makes your Italian visit so much richer. Comacchio was new one for me. I've been to Ferrara and Ravenna when living in Padova. But totally missed Comacchio. Basically all of the Adriatic (minus Venice) is under touristed. I like Le Marche for a pure central italian experience.
We were just in Italy in May and totally agree on Verona. We absolutely loved it there. We have no desire to go to Rome and Verona let us have all the Roman history we wanted. We also did Venice and Milan but spent most of our time in a small village just south of Alba and visited wineries.
Verona was lovely...calm and VERY PRETTY...yes see the big three (out of season) BUT THEN go back to see the manyyyyy other places. Never heard of Comacchio. DON'T SKIP FLORENCE- Parma does not have the art masterpieces that the Uffizzi and L'Academia have (for example Michaelangelo's David and many paintings....

What about bologna or padova ? They aren’t livable cities?
I have my citizenship for the Republic of Ireland so an EU nation. Does that make it easier for me to move to places like Italy or Spain?
