Loving? Lmao that's not at all what it is. Daegu accents are tough and harsh. Like Busan but not as loud. People from Daegu are so street tough, they don't even bother full sentences. Often shortening it to just a few words. It only sounds cute when a girl is speaking.
Tiffanie Kale Not exactly. Men from Daegu are known for being stereotypically manly and tough and sounding harsh when they speak (think Yoongi’s satoori) and at the same time women seem to sound “cute” when they speak it (^Irene) to a degree, but the dialect still the same vibe to it no matter what gender. Also there’s probably minor differences that us English speakers can’t hear even within what constitutes a Daegu accent.
By the looks of it, she only lets her accent loose when her emotions are getting a bit uncontrollable (too excited, angry, etc) which can only mean that the members can detect how severly they messed up by listening to her accent. In this essay, i will-

If I were to give a few pointers, standard Korean doesn't go up and down in tone very much, it's not that different from English. Daegu and the rest of Kyeongsang province's accents go up and down a lot, it's one of the biggest identifiers. A lot of people from that region, even after they adopt the vocabulary and pronunciations in Seoul, they still leave traces of their accent in their tone going up and down. The part at 1:14 shows her tone going down in Daegu style because she was excited. After that there's a bunch of pronunciation and vocabulary quirks characteristic of the Kyeongsangdo satoori. One of them is that the ㅡ and ㅓ eu and uh vowels are often switched. The last part where she's saying their names all weird is apparently another characteristic where they'll often be too relaxed with the last consonant in a character. For example Wendy's name 승완(이) Seungwan(ee) will sometimes be said 승와이 Seung wa-ee. Irene's accent is somewhat muted by now so it's hard to tell the difference especially for a non Korean but look up Daegu satoori or kyeongsangdo satoori and the difference is a lot clearer.
@@danicemarielobrin when it comes to bisaya it sounds like were all shouting but when in speaking filipino our voices are starting to get soft hahshshshhs
Because idols have to use Seoul or standard accent for Korean. They can't use accents from other areas. Like British people and Americans have different accents of English so it's the same thing.
x Yereneseul x it’s not an accent lmao, everything about Seoul dialect and Daegu dialect is different. She’s embarrassed by it because girls from Daegu/ Busan Are “known” to have a cute accent when speaking in there dialect so when they make her speak in it they usually want her to do aegyo
It’s hard to detect, unless you’re learning korean and look in to dialects otherwise it would be nearly impossible to detect. I started learning korean before I got into kpop so I can detect the more obvious satoori accents but since there are so many, I can’t detect all of them. The gyeongsang dialect ( Busan, Daegu, Ulsan etc ) is the most famous dialect apart from Seoul which is the standard one that everyone knows/ speaks. And the only one that is completely different and you’d be able to detect it’s different even if you didn’t learn korean is Jeju ( bc jeju is an island so the “dialect” sounds like a complete new language ). Typically the Daegu/Busan dialect men sound more “manly” and have a more aggressive and deeper tone and women will sound tougher or cuter with a higher pitch. They use the word 마 (ma) a lot. It means like hey. And they end questions with either 나 (na) or 노 (no) typically. Hope that helps! Also I’m not korean but I’m fairly fairly sure what I’m saying is accurate but you might want to do your own research if you’re interested
Reminds me of my grandma who’s always mad at me and it’s even scarier with the fact that she has satoori accent The thing is she doesn’t even talk to me much but for some reason is always mad at me HAHAHA :’)
when i hear daegu accent it sounds a bit like japanese kansai accent (which is often used by japanese mafia in anime lol), but irene makes it sounds so cute xD
Irene making daegu dialect cute meanwhile daegu and busan are the harshest if a person from busan and a person from daegu will talk it will sound like fighting
1:17 she got caught speaking her Daegu accent a changed it straight after when she said "Majimak". That might be the biggest example for the ones that are still confused.
She's been in Seoul for a long time tbh, and she's not very confident about her satoori( she said she used to avoid speaking during her trainee days because she was embarrassed of her accent)
Is it weird I can kinda tell the difference in accents when I hear foreign languages? Is it just me? Like, I can tell when someone is using Kansai-ben over city japanese... or when someone speaks in Busan satoori over Seoul satoori.
If she shouted at me with the her accent I’d probably go paralyzed. Irene is so sweet and cute, but she’s such a mom, I wouldn’t like to upset her, if I was her member etc.
I imagine she should be judged arrogant because of her aggressive-sounding accent. It happens a lot here in the northeast of Brazil, we talk like that too.😕🇧🇷

I think for women it s supposed to make them cuter .. for men manlier
