    Thanks for the video. I almost bought a fs38 (cheaper version of fs40) but I learned that it's not very good for tall people. Probably would have hated having to bend over to trim. I'm going for the straight shaft ones now.

      We're torn between the FS131 and FS240 depending on whether you are interested in using this for lawns and gardens or roadside/ very heavy duty use. Hope this helps!

    I have just bought a Stihl FSA60 R and the automatic line feed is simply not as described, the line keeps breaking and snapping off inside the hub. so you constantly have to unscrew and re-feed and load the line back onto it. I just don't understand how a company can describe a product as having an automatic line feed when it clearly doesn't work. Waiting for feedback from Stihl and any advice.

    • @nicoflooow6098

      Maybe the line is to old or to thin for the Material you are mowing

    • @Elfin4
      @Elfin4 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nicoflooow6098 Dont think so. I have just purchased some Stihl Pro line 2.4mm which should be more than capable of edging lawns even adjacent stone pavers. It just keeps snapping inside teh line head so you can't feed anymore and need to completely strip the head to feed the line again.

    • @patriciagallacher2905
      @patriciagallacher2905 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You aren't bumping the line out enough, if you don't it tends to snap the line inside just watched a video about it.

    • @Elfin4
      @Elfin4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@patriciagallacher2905 Yeah I don't think its that as I was just using it last night again and was trying to bump the line feed and it just didn't seem like it auto fed as it should when trying to bump the head. The only thing I have found is you need to back off using it too close to what you're cutting if its borders or against hard items like walls, paving or fence posts as that will also snap the line. Just last night alone using it for no longer than 15 minutes I must have stripped the head down totally to remove and re-feed the line about 4 times. I really don't think the auto feed is fit for purpose as teh auto feed clearly doesn't work as its suppose to.

    • @KR-uv6vp
      @KR-uv6vp หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try soaking the line in a bucket of water for a couple of days. It rehydrates the material and helps prevent brittle breakage and welding together in the head itself.
      Type a quick search on soaking strimmer line on here, you'll find plenty of vids.
      I hope it makes a difference to your situation!

      They come stock with the autocut 25-2 head. But, I’m sure at purchase u can switch it out with the autocut 26-2 which is a quick wind head. This is STIHLs design and their version of a quick load. I hear some care for it some don’t. A lot of people both homeowner and landscaper like the speedfeed. Two main issues with them. One most of the time when mounting them on your gearbox u need to use the black spacer to make a tight connection. I don’t care for that gap in between the head my personal preference. Secondly they are not built that tough and hear about landscapers going through 2-4 bump caps a season. I don’t like that. I just have always stuck with the autocut 25-2 stock head. I’m just as fast at reloading that head as a speedfeed. They are not hard to load they hold about 20- 24 ft of line depending on if it’s .080 .095 or .105 line. They are strong heads and I only need to replace the pump spool usually only once a season. Depending on how hard you use the trimmer or should I say how hard u are pumping it on grass and hard ground. I find to if u stick with buying the Stihl brand replacement spool either prewound or empty. U save a bit if there empty. They seem to last longer than aftermarket brand like stens. Plus they are not made 100% to speck. Just ask the dealer what head u prefer to have with that unit. I’m sure they would either include it for free or even swap out and change the actual unit head for u to what u want.
