@@henryli255 many japanese & korean loanwords are directly from old Min, Min Bei, Min Nan related dialects and nearby Wu dialects, and I happen to speak an Old Min Hokkien derivative (hainanese) that kept a lot of 13th-16th century feature of Min Dialects, the words are even more similar sometimes, imagine an island down in the south china sea, one would think "what the fuck does that have to do with japan and korea??" but you get the idea
it sounds really interesting! i already have a pretty hard time with mandarin pronunciation; i could never imagine mastering wenzhounese.
