Thank you for checking out dirt oval stuff matt. We have been building these ourselves for years
Awesome!
Very Awesome
keep building them your better off.
We need a pavement racing slash. The xo1 ain’t it imo
Dirt racing is popular in parts of the country, not that big around me. But I used to live a couple different places with dirt tracks. I do have to begrudgingly admit the Traxxas and Tamiya business model of seeing how few new parts they can make to sell the same thing at full price for decades seems to work well.
It should be interesting to see how these are received by the existing Mudboss racing community, as they are inspired by, but different from the current class specifications. I hope it gets people out for some affordable, competitive racing. I highly support scale racing that resembles local 1:1 race cars, and this is what racin' looks like out here in BFE.
I’ve been driving wrecker and on the safety crew at a 1/4 mile dirt track for 15 years. That’s a pretty bad ass looking Modified dirt car.
I like the rims and tyres, I might have to pick up a set for my slash bread van
Those wheels n tires would look badass on a 2x4 hot rod pickup. Preferably a stepside bed 🤘🍻🤘
Cool. Lifts the inside front like a real dirt modified does when hooked up. Real ones use replaceable flat aluminum braces for locating the body skin and Traxxas missed that detail but its an easy fix.
Thanks for the info!
Dirt ovaling is popular everywhere, most people just don't know it. They're a rowdy crowd with money to burn.
Good to know!
I used to race in Crestview, Florida and when I moved from there back to Kansas, there were some folks there building a nice track but I haven't heard anything in the Wichita, Ks area.
Maybe check Facebook? Lots of hidden gems out there, I'm sure!
Ya, dirt oval is fairly popular here in the cornfields of Michigan.
Doesn't look too bad and I'm putting in a dirt oval in my side/backyard.
Very cool!
In my younger years I raced dirt track. I might need one of these...
The thin lightweight lexan is very scale to the thin sheet metal bodies we used. They vibrate rattle like crazy. Traxxas nailed it.
Glad you like it!
Dirt oval is extremely popular where I live. We got an oval track 15 minutes from my house. It's nice to see traxxas is offering a factory mudboss. Upsetting to me is I've spent over $1000 to make my slash a dirt oval car.
Ouch! 😅
I'm sure it performs and looks way better than the old tribal design Traxxas always does
I bet it works and definitely looks better!
We used to have an abundance of dirt oval race tracks here in MN, back in the 90's. This new Traxxas makes me wish they were still around!
An area of RC I was initially interested in but not enough area interest. Interesting Team Associated and now Traxxas pushing dirt oval products. Maybe see a return of the Losi Slider sprint car.
Those losi look sick! 🤩
Depending on your area. Ga, sc, tn all still have races going on. I run super late model and buggy street stock
Absolutely fantastic review and some kick butt music😊❤
Thank you!
Wow it would be interesting to see actual races of these machines something different
wow!!!!! traxxas must have been working on this for a long time!
😂🤣🤣🤣😂
At least 3 or 4 weeks!!
@@laserbeam1620 Might have been an entire month. lol
Its a stolen exact copy of what Eric Salvas had created.
Matt,
I don't know what Toronto is like but in NE Ohio there are tons of baseball diamonds not being used in certain parts of the week. They make great dirt ovals.
Great tip!
Being in the UK, if I hadn't strayed off my few favourite TV channels and found MAVTV, I wouldn't have had a clue at what this car was all about!! Grassroots racing on a dirt oval, with cars with massive V8 engines!! What's not to love. Doesn't really compare to the Reliant Robin Racing here in the UK (I am joking by the way!! 😆 Watching a 3 wheeled fiberglass car, tip over every time it tries to corner can be pretty funny though!!! 😂)
Getting a few of your mates together to have some stock racing sounds great, but the prices of Traxxas products in the UK are already high, and getting higher and higher. It's almost to the point where, even with shopping and customs, it would be cheaper to buy from Amain!!
Nice unboxing video, and what parts to you need to include in the box for a 69?!!😆
Have a great weekend. 🤘🏻
I think it's cool when company's making these little bit different kind a cars for us. This sport is toally new for me but easy to understand why it's popular. Great video and thanks introducing this car dor us.
Love the looks of the Traxxas mudboss hopefully they sell as kit also
Looks so cool 😎
Really impressed with the Hoosier tires. I really hope RC dirt oval racing becomes a thing in my area, I would totally check it out.
I Just saw the traxxas video. it looks freekin sick
There's a dirt oval at my local shop/track, these would be good as a spec class to get more people into racing
Didn't expect traxxas to actually build the mud boss! Too cool
Thats a nice slash! Lots of new parts and generally higher spec than the VERY MANY other slash's traxxas offers. So many versions of this platform for sale by traxxas.
Brainerd International Raceway in the center of Minnesota. Competitive dirt oval racing and a heck of a party afterward.
Excellent content bro!!!💯
Thank you!
Those dire wheel/tires look AMAZING!!
I think so too!
That's an sc modified....not a mudboss....still, cool to see the dirt oval world getting a lil more popular!
I did not see this coming…! Although this looks really cool and I will definitely have a closer look at it. Thanks for a nice review! Made me curious for more…
Pretty fun concept 🙂 at least something new 👍 great overview 🙏
I could totally see building a Batmobile on that thing. ❤
I gotta admit my brain likes the symmetry 😂😂😅❤❤ great video as always
Traxxas did a very good job on making it look like a modified. And so do their sprint cars. Now to just find tracks around here that will race dirt or even asphalt oval
Great vid, sick looking dirt modified! I think if you were to put some duct tape on the inside of the rear quarter panels, that might help sturdy those up. 👍
That car looks cool! We run a lot of dirt oval North of Seattle and we run Slash Super Stock, which is a stock 2wd Slash with stock car body spec class. I also race a bandit modified to a sprint car in wingless sprint.
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
Front looks like the Tumbler Batmobile
Great video as always. I am kind of thinking the best things about this truck are the tires. They look and sounded fun on the pavement! Also your running montage made my eyes cross but that could be the seroqel...either way it was cool!
Dirt oval racing here is pan cars on packed clay. This has to be an interesting addition to the Traxxas lineup for those who have been desiring this type of RC offering. Not for me personally, but still interesting to watch.
Here in Ohio we have the legendary Eldora speedway, awesome little dirty track owned by Toney Stewart. There is always great racing there and this new release by Traxxas instantly reminded me of it
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
off to the hobby shop for one! may just use the chassis as a base for a baja bug project!
Got distracted by the Porsche missing its front axle
Dirt oval racing is pretty popular up here in Minnesota, especially the northern part of the state. My dad was part of an open wheel modified team in the 80s
Very cool!
okay I dig it. I also like that roll cage & driver. I want to customize a Slash to look like a pro 2 truck. Meaning cut out windows, rollcage & single driver. So many lexan interiors have the two driver setup like what you'd see in trophy trucks. But no real setups for pro 2 or pro 4 racing trucks. This interior looks like it'd fit the bill.
Well it looks like they have figured out how to capitalize on all those drag platforms that were slowly fading. But it does look pretty cool
I mean. It's cool.
Very much traxxas.
What us actually cool is the inclusion of an interior of sorts, and the new tires.
I like those tires.
Great video over all.
😎👍👍
I agree with you, it's very Traxxas.
Finally an interior! Now put them in a new crawler body.
I dig those new tires, might look cool on a shop truck or ratrod build.
Well said!
It would be interesting to see how these would complete with the sc10 which is typically the most popular option for this class for most places around me
Wonder if those wheels and tires were sent on the drag slash and do like a mad Max type thing with it....😁
This will be good for spec racing. It won't work in actual MUDboss racing, sadly the class doesn't allow the upgraded parts or the BL-2 with the LCG chassis. But hell yeah get out there and run em!! Maybe make more dirt ovals so I have places to race lol
Whats that circle thing on the "hood"? And that thing would be perfect to make some sort of Batman Bat Tumbler.. the tires are perfect
Ok that would be pretty sweet on a small scale 👍 nice video like always !
Thanks 👍
Awesome build. I dont rly mess with RC much any more, I havent been able to afford it. I had a couple nitro engine trucks many years ago they were so fun. Id love to get into this again but haven't had much room in the budget for hobbys and fun.
Every day's a school day, certainly was today. Never knew this kind of car or racing existed, certainly not the prettiest thing, but then again it is built for a purpose.
P.o.d. lyrics?
@fartdonkey8290 not as far as I know fella, never listened to P.O.D before, so another first today.
"dirt oval around your parts" giggity!
😂
It's a take off if IMCA sanctioning body and several others MODIFIED class. On the dirt these modified are a beast. The next step up would be a dirt late model. Apparently you're definitely not familiar with dirt naval or even asphalt oval racing. Modifieds race on asphalt also, but will use slick tires.now I'm curious if they will put a nitro engine in these. Playing in the dirt oval is a blast. Especially with the likes of sprint car racing. And im from near the sprint car capital of the world Knoxville Iowa. When they have the nationals, the population is around 8000,and when they have the nationals there will be 40k people there. It draws racers and fans from all over the states,New Zealand, and Australia and Canada
Wonder if this hold up against the associated sr10 dirt modified? Hav to get one an find out
Oh hell yeah dirt track is really big in the south of the United States heck there's a track 20 miles from me here in Texas and I love to go to occasionally. That class is called modified if I remember correctly there is super modified that is like that just more body around it . Too cool!!
Thanks for watching!
I've noticed it was very popular in the rural of Pennsylvania.
Quite a surprise for me also, but should be enough to get a person started, as always love the channel, see ya next time
Thanks for watching!
Great video
Thanks!
Theres been a circlentrack club in my area for atleast 4 years now that i know of
In my area there is at lease 3 dirt oval tracks that my son and I race our rc at
Very cool!
Interesting setup with the lower tier electronics but higher end shocks and diff. 3300kv motor seems to match Associated SR10 RTR
$380 is insane. The 2wd slash vxl costs the same as this car with the bl2s system.
The 2wd vxl also doesn't come with a low cg chassis, $95 shocks, or a body as valuable, among other things.
Considering bodies can be $100 alone it's not that bad.
The slash 2wd doesn’t have the magnum transmission, aluminum shocks, or LCG chassis. Although I do agree $380 is probably $30-60 too much.
There’s a reason the Slash VXL is not used in a lot of the oval classes that Slash chassis are used in. A good oval driver will rip better lap times on a small dirt track bullring oval than a VXL. It’s all in the intended purpose
There is also a late model class, not sure if they're is a street stock class associated electrics has òne based on the rb 6.4
This really looks like a neat way to get into racing. Dirt oval is popular down here with 3 tracks within a 60 mile radius of me. I like you immaturity as well. That was the same number I used when I raced my quad during my HS years.
I'm definitely immature!
@@scalebuildersguild wait- is this a Rachel response? 😂😂
@@longtalltexanrc3358don’t call her Racheal, or Becky… only Rebecca. 😅
@@scalebuildersguild🤦🏼♂️ so sorry Rebecca!
Traxxas found a way to use the tired 2x platform and foist it off on customers again.
It be interesting to see a traxxas take on a drift slash
The origin ofthemud bus class is similar to the no prep cars, in using previous generation 2wd cars.
Lil body stiffener in the rear and it should be good. Graphite links work well
You can't fire me, i quit!!...🤣
Its crazy traxxas doesnt set all the 2wd slashes up like this
I didn't know circle track or dirt oval RC racing even existed until seeing these videos. That's how popular it is in my area. Traxxas couldn't have designed a car that interested me less if they tried. Well.... except 3 of the last 4 they've released. Starting with the snap on car, the unbearably slow trx4m "monster truck" and now this. At least the Maxx Slash appealed to me. Until i drove a couple of them but at least i didn't think i hated it at first glance.
I was hoping a big LMT competitor or 6s or 8s Bigger Typhon type buggy was next from Traxxas. They're just a company i don't recognize anymore.
This car has a face for radio 😂
Hot dang, a dirt modified who would have thunk it. For us guys who raced the real things, Wissota Mods IMCA and spent mega thousands running them i love the low prices on this. Hell you cant even buy a pair of Hoosiers for the price of this RC.
Good video and content Amigo. Job well done.
Thank you!
Great music
Thanks!
On east coast it is huge
"Not tested on animals " becomes rabbit 🐰
wish I would pick one of these up. just too expensive right now. I just bought an infraction and about to buy an xmcxx (used)
No, as far as I know, there isn’t a dirt oval track in or near my area. I’ve performed a general look on google and found nothing. I could be wrong. However, that car is not for me.
Fair enough, thanks for watching!
That’s why I still call it the mudboss and make everyone on Facebook so mad
Does it drive well on the street. Or asphalt ?
Watch the video, that’s where I ran it.
Dirt oval (full size)is huge around my area but I'll stick with my 4wd RC's 😉👍
This hobby isnt exactly cheap either considering the amount of motors and batteries we burn through. Cause we'll run new motors in water too break them in and also run our batteries warm so we can get the most out of our stock setups. That was with the old bushed motors but since its all sealed know it'll change the game drastically.
How many times can you recycle a Slash = Endless.
Watchin runnig part seems like front end push is issue buut still interested fer sure
People diy them to race been like that for years. I built one years ago. From a gold pan rc10.
Muddboss off to the trails 😅😅
Not sure what mudboss class this will fit in, around here mudboss is high cg chassis and a different body, more like a big block modified would have. So may confuse some people. So defintely would be best to make these their own stock spec class.
Dirt oval is hanging on by the skin of its teeth down under. That class is not popular from what I see watching rigs getting towed to Saturday night events. I do like the tires but can’t see myself buying them at Traxxas Australia prices. I have no slash and don’t see one on my horizon but thanks for the informative video. You are 100% correct about the sticker sheets in new rtr as sold by certain manufacturers. Let’s be real the modern newbie is likely to use stickers and scissors to personalise their own vehicles with more confidence than any other tools.
love you matt --- but that is a lmao moment,
Now if they can put a bird cage and j bar under it to really handle like a true dirt modified, that would be great
Does this live up to its name the "Mud Boss", or is it more like a "Mud Middle-Manager"...?
They tried Mud Employee, but it doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Say what you will about Traxxas but this is pretty darn cool. STOCK SPEC RACING would be cool.
nice music
It's popular. I'm in Richmond, Virginia
Where at in RVA? I'm in Chesapeake and can't find any dirt oval info.
It’s a UMP Modified class dirt race car.
