Hmm I don't think they mean it like that. bc they even said that Hobi was different even before debuting and that his name J-Hope allowed him to adopt a more radiant personality. Not saying that he was depressed or anything, Bighit has not disclosed that he was, just that there is some truth to how Hobi's personality changed to more bubbly one. Let's also not forget that his parents were against him being an idol and felt like a failure to his father, plus he had tough times and continues to have struggles. He is human and is allowed to cry and be sad. I wish he can express all his emotions and be comfortable with opening up if he pleases, despite the response he will get.

Anyone else notice how they were basically trying to get RM to talk bad about the fandom and he refused to do it and dodged the question by making fun of himself? The same thing happened on Mario Lopez. When Mario asked if them to tell crazy fan moments, he intentionally mistranslated it to the other members as "tell your favorite moments with ARMYs." They refuse to say anything bad about us. They protect us as much as we protect them. I love stanning a group that stans us back. And RM is a true angel. Also can we just talk about how our fanbase is NOT the typical western fanbase that the American media apparently thinks we are? Our bond with BTS is about 1000x stronger than the average western artists' fandoms and it is a bond based on MUTUAL respect. That is, the vast majority of us DON'T stalk them or invade their privacy. We also aren't 12. And can we please get some questions about something other than their celebrity crushes or collabs??? RM is a literal genius with an IQ of 148; he can answer weightier questions than things like "who is your celebrity crush?" Okay rant over.
I completely agree with you. For some reason when these interviewers catch wind of the "dedicated and passionate ARMY fanbase" they automatically correlate it with "wild and destructive," which just isn't true; we love BTS because BTS loves us, and we RESPECT BTS because BTS respects us, as you said. The fact that both ARMY and BTS put as much effort as possible into maintaining a true relationship and connection with each other is what strengthens us as a fandom, not being rabid monsters who can't control themselves at any remote glimpse of their distant idol.
And the questions can definitely improve: I have seen a couple interviews with shining examples of great questions and content (Zach Sang + Liam McEwan are two examples off the top of my head), but these are few and far between. I understand that some general questions are asked to provide the viewer who may not know so much about the artist(s) with some basic information, but I'm pretty sure I've heard "Where do you like to eat in LA?" and "Who are your celebrity crushes?" in close to every interview. I hope interviewers know that you can mix in some more in depth questions, too!
The only thing I don't understand is your point in writing "We also aren't 12." Is this referring to being stalkers and invasive fans? I understand that many younger fans tend to be on the more extreme end of the spectrum, but not all younger fans are horrible. I'm a 13-soon-to-be-14 year old ARMY, and definitely not an example of a sasaeng or crazy Western fangirl (I am, in reality, rather shy and reserved). I just feel like this age denominator always being mentioned in regards to annoying fangirls can come off as unwelcoming and disheartening to younger fans who might have an interest in, well, anything really.

I watched Zack and Liam's interviews too and I loved them. There are a few others that have been decent as well but the vast majority have been subpar to say the least. And I really didn't intend any offense with the age thing. I guess that might not have been the best word to use as there are definitely plenty of mature and respectful teens in the ARMY. I'm more just frustrated with the way they attempt to make ARMYs seem like crazy obsessive hormonally driven kids. Which certainly not all or even most younger fans are like that but that is the stereotype that they are pinning on us. And the fact is that most BTS fans are in their 20s and have outgrown the stereotypical hormone driven craze that typically make up a "boy band" fandom. BTS deserve to have people of all ages take them seriously. And the way that a lot of the American media are portraying BTS is to make them seem like some teenage obsession that you outgrow and that adults shouldn't take them seriously. BTS love their young fans and their older fans and ARMYs should appreciate anyone who loves BTS no matter their age but I can understand why some people are upset (me included) about the way the fandom is being portrayed because they are trying to force BTS into a box that they honestly outgrew a long time ago.
I understand, no offense taken. And you're right, most of the ARMY are older fans which gives them the right to feel misrepresented, as well as fans of all ages, by this stereotypical label of "teenage craze boy band". We should identify BTS by the positive effect and message they spread to us and people all around the world, and not by any demographic in particular that happens to listen to their music which influences so many more lives. There is no box big enough to contain all the wondrous things that BTS have done for the lives of millions of people and the diverse & talented ARMY who support them.
