    I'm all for doing this by hand but for some jobs it's just incredible to see the quick progress machinery can make. Great progress!

    I admire you in the way you have taken on the hardest land. I thought ours was hard going, but ours is a baby compared to yours. Keep moving forward.👌

      Thanks! 😘It is not the easiest place, but I can't wait to see the full transformation!

    I 'd really recommend you to plant native fast growing trees to create some biology and in between you slowly add fruit and nut trees. The soil is very poor when you showed the stony dry soil.

    I would sugest trying a banana circle, four banana trees around a pit filled with organic matter, works in dry places like yours. Some other crops for variety, fixing nitrogen, biomass. Cassava, Pigeon peas, Ginger, Turmeric, sweet potato, Chaya, Nopal, Vetiver grass.
    Good mix you use for planting trees, maybe some wood and chopped Nopales. Plant some Nopales and Vetiver next to the trees.

    Big fans of your videos Scarlett! My husband and I are also carrying out a land regenerative project (Inbetween Campos and Santanyi) and your videos are very inspirational. We´ll start the planting seasson this October/Nov with -hopefully, the help of some volunteers. May we ask you where we could get some manure in Campos, mentioned in this video please? Cheers!

      Awesome, let me know when you have your planting day and I'll come and help, if I can! I get my manure from Aksel who runs an animal sanctuary. Contact him through Instagram and say hi from me: @new.life.mallorca

    I can imagine having water delivered isn't cheap. How many truck fulls per year do you expect to need for the current plantings? Do you have the option/desire to dig a well or will you use rainwater primarily over the long run?

    • @sonselvapermaculture
      @sonselvapermaculture  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately we're not allowed to dig a well but will work with rainwater as soon as we have a roof. The deliveries are just a short term solution, not ideal but necessary.

    Watched your entire series and loved it! Can’t wait to see how your property develops in the future. So motivating! By the way, the horse manure looked rather fresh. I thought it was recommended to let it sit/compost for 12 months otherwise it might burn the roots away?

    • @sonselvapermaculture
      @sonselvapermaculture  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! The manure was actually quite decomposed already. But anyway we didn't have much time since it was already quite late to plant the trees. 😅

      Most of that burning plants is nonsense. After a few days we put our cow manure all the time around our plants. Especially trees zero affect at all.

    That guy of the truck shouldn't make a hole on the tank cover. With the light, water in the tank will hrlp the growth of lime! Next step you'll have to drain the tank and clean the interiour, because of that lack of thinking.

    Terrific video Scarlett. I am amazed at the transformation you have made to the land you bought! In this video, you show entire stone walls around the orchard area. We could not see them before. We can see the size of the property more clearly now. It looked much smaller in previous videos because we could only see the immediate area you were filming. I had not heard of Syntropic planting methods before. I will investigate this further. In California, we have to order specific varieties of fruit and nut trees between October 31 and November 20. Then we get deliveries in February. This might explain the lack of selection you experienced. Your plant nursery can help you get the varieties you want. When I think of permaculture, I think of adding swales or pools to slow rain water and allow it to seep into the land. Will you be creating any swales or earthen dams to collect rain water?

    • @sonselvapermaculture
      @sonselvapermaculture  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much! The problem was, that we were quite late with the planting because of all the delays. The selection should be much bigger in autumn/early winter. I'm not planing on digging any swales, because as you can see, we barely have soil, our property is one big rock basically. but I'll add stone berms below each row of fruit trees to slow down the water. And a pond will be added for sure this autumn!

      Hi! Congrats on this land. My teacher says under your circumstances you can build swales with rocks or straw bales.

      Can we use tools like jackhammers in such cases in order to dig some structure to lowering the flow to infiltrate water in the ground and give moisture in the area ?

    Do the trees roots break the rocks in the bedrock after some time?

    • @sonselvapermaculture
      @sonselvapermaculture  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the bedrock is breaking quite sandy and strong roots can break it or find their way through it. hopefully!
