Amadou Onana transfer discussion as Everton finalise £50m exit deal

Also on today’s agenda is the latest transfer news involving the deal to bring Napoli’s Danish international winger, Jesper Lindstrom to the club.
Aston Villa are close to agreeing a deal with Everton over Amadou Onana.
Unai Emery’s club is in talks with the Blues over a deal for the midfielder as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of next season, when Villa Park will host Champions League football.
A move for Onana had been anticipated this summer, with Everton understood to have set a £50m starting point for any bids for the Belgium international. The ECHO understands the deal with Villa is for a figure around that price.

I’m absolutely delighted with the Onana signing as he’s exactly what we’ve been missing in midfield. Agree he’s by no means the finished product yet but working under a manager like Emery I am more than confident he will improve and become the player everyone expects him to become.

Hope you guys have a decent season. As a Villa fan I'm happy with this deal, working under Emery will improve him 100% playing under a system that suites his style. When you look at Caisedo and Rice at £100m plus he will be around that value in 2 seasons. UTV!!

Chris keeps referring to Onana’s huge “ability” like he’s some kind of midfield maestro, I’ve said it since day 1 and people still can’t see it.
Onana isn’t a dribbler who makes things happen and it’s infuriating expecting him to be one.
He’s a player who wins the ball and passes the ball, his main attributes are speed, height and defensive duels like tackling or headed clearances.
As a Villa fan I think he will be a better fit in our system than in Everton's under Dyche, he's exactly what we need at Villa & his attributes are something Aston Villa have been sorely lacking,I hope the cash is used well too improve your squad & most us Villa fans want to see Everton doing well after testing times,our clubs are historically very similar & you're our twin club and our brothers. Tielemanns is doing well at Villa & a very important player,so will Onana under Unai Emery & his elite coaching staff. Tielemanns just took a couple of months too get starts regularly,but apart from a couple of injuries he started nearly every game....UTFV!! 😊
He should thrive under Emery and the quality around him in the Villa team
Sounds a bit muddled Chris. If our strategy is to sell an asset at under value to facilitate keeping other assets - it's a silly one. We are not under PSR trouble until june next year. Onana should have a value and we don't sell for less. Likewise, this stuff about keeping Branthwaite is dependent on bids coming in. If we get offered £75mill he goes - end off. At 70mill we think about it and anything less - no dice.
Onanas transfer value stands around 38million/40million tops
I’d get people wanting more if Ams stock was high but it clearly isn’t at the minute (according to some)
Plus there’s always hidden costs so I’m pretty sure it’d be 50m+ which I’d say is a more than fair price for a player that’s trying to find his place
It’s easy to point out massively overpriced players like Caicedo, Lavia etc but that’s ignoring the context behind it.
For starters Chelsea were in a bidding war with Liverpool for both of those players which massively inflated the prices plus that was before the points deductions and PSR forced teams to be more careful.

Onana might not be the best fit playing in Dyches system at Everton & maybe a difficult time within the club dealing with big issues for a young player too blossom & show his best side,but as a Villa fan i think he'll be a great fit & his attributes are what we're missing,i hope you'll use the cash too improve yourselves & have a good season. Pickford’s distribution was terrible lads, no doubt he was class otherwise but can’t ignore the obvious.
Pickford lumping it upfield and losing possession. This is something the under 8s don't do in 2024.
Pickford starts the counter attack for the goal by picking Bellingham out. He did overhit a few, but he mostly only went long as Spain were closing all the other options out.
Totally Fake! Lindstrøm is off any transfer moves or talks and sure Napoli will not let him go for that cheap!
