Incorrect! When considering the First Amendment and its implications for filming on public property, like at the beach, the following points are relevant: 1. Public Spaces and Free Speech: Public beaches, parks, streets, and similar areas are typically considered public forums where First Amendment protections are robust. These areas are generally open to the public, and activities like filming are usually protected as forms of free expression. The government cannot arbitrarily restrict these activities without a compelling reason. 2. Reasonable Restrictions: While the First Amendment protects the right to film in public places, this right is not absolute. The government can impose reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions on filming. These restrictions must be: • Content-neutral: They cannot be based on the content of the filming. • Narrowly tailored: They must serve a significant government interest, such as safety, traffic control, or environmental protection. • Leave open alternative channels: They must allow for other means of expression. For instance, a city might require permits for filming in certain areas to manage congestion or ensure public safety, as long as these requirements are applied fairly and consistently. 3. Privacy Concerns: Even in public places, privacy considerations can come into play. Filming individuals in a way that invades their reasonable expectation of privacy (like using zoom lenses to capture private moments or sensitive areas) can lead to legal issues, even in public settings. 4. Commercial Filming: For commercial purposes, like a movie or commercial shoot, additional regulations often apply. Governments might require permits or fees to use public spaces for extensive commercial filming, to address potential disruptions and ensure public spaces remain accessible to others. 5. Protected Areas: Some public spaces, even if generally accessible, may have restrictions due to specific considerations. For example, filming in certain nature reserves or protected beaches might be limited to protect wildlife or preserve the environment. 6. Law Enforcement Interactions: The right to film public officials, including law enforcement, in the performance of their duties is generally protected under the First Amendment, as long as the filming does not interfere with their activities. In summary, filming on public property, such as a beach, is broadly protected under the First Amendment. However, it is subject to reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions designed to serve significant governmental interests and preserve public order.

Funny thing is Nicholas Cage's new movie just got a huge plug with over 300k youtube subscribers on this channel and the security guard wants to run him off. The Venice Beach boardwalk should pay GIV for this video. It's the best advertisement you could possibly hope for, showing Venice Beach cleared of all the homeless camps with tourists and locals hanging out and enjoying themselves, Nicholas Cage shooting a movie. It's the ultimate tourist experience for LA visitors.

You handled things well when confronted by security staff and the cop. I heard if it weren't for Nicolas Cage than Johnny Depp wouldn't be where he is today as a movie star. Cage and Johnny were childhood friends in L.A. and Cage was already an actor and convinced Johnny to take up acting. Johnny really never thought of becoming an actor until he met Nick.

I actually did accidentally walk onto a shot in the movie 'Hoot'. Was working inside a boat at a marina in Ft Lauderdale and went to go get something from my truck. I walked past a salty looking guy sitting on a 5 gallon bucket wiping the hull of a sailboat that was out of the water with a rag. He didn't seem to be doing anything productive and was giving me the stinkeye as I walked past and I'm thinking 'wtf is HIS problem?' Then some kid rides past me on a bike... About 30 feet later some dude pops out from between some trailers on the side (out of the shot) with a radio and tells me I ruined a take.😂

And much respect to LAPD officer Izquierdo who graciously interacted with you, his uniform patches indicate he's assigned to the Traffic Division (typical LAPD sworn duty uniforms have no shoulder patches), that he's a motor (motorcycle) officer (thus the arrow and wheel patch also on his shoulder), and has 30+ years of service to the citizens of L.A. (each hash mark on his sleeve represents 5 years of service, and there's 6 of them). Thanks again GiV!

I met Nick a few years ago at a private screening of his movie, “PIG”. We had our photo taken together. I didn’t ask for it. He was a nice guy. Energetic.
That’s cool! I would have felt like I was bugging him if I walked up and asked for a picture. To have the picture offered would be a major bonus! Love Nicolas Coppola!
Nicolas Cage's ancestors even come from Germany, from Cochem on the Moselle, and he prefers the German style of cinema, which is called German Expressionism.

I liked Celebrities more when I was younger, but as I get older I realize that they are all just people like us, that other people just stick a camera in their faces and film. They have all the flaws like everyone else. Nicolas is a good actor but I think that he is Very greatful that his uncle, the very famous director ( Francis Ford Coppola) probably got his foot in the door for him.🤙
@@scottgalbraith9656 yes, Cage actually does seem like he would be very cool in person. It’s just the whole over the top production and some random guy (GIV) can’t even take a pic from 9000 yards away and all of the demons in the industry that are exhausting. Fans like GIV are what is keeping this industry alive.
@@scottgalbraith9656Glad that Nicolas pushed on through that crack in the door and made the most out of the opportunity! He has made a lot of my favorite movies!
Looks like a stupid movie anyway

The white building house I think they filmed Bringing Down the House with Steve Martin and Queen Latifa. The scene at the end of the movie. Love your videos! 😎👍♥️
This Hollywood bunch is so entitled. Public space is public space.
Oh imagine being one of those " Special " people. Sarcasm! 🤙
If this “ movie “ 🤣 had a real budget they wouldn’t be filming Gonzo style. You film like this when you have a budget check singed by Tubi …. 😂
@@SunnyMouseEars yeah its odd it doesnt even LOOK like theyre even actualy filming anything it looks like more of an audition or something for a number of wanna be part players - it's odd that they're choosing venice beach to do auditioning
Dont watch hollyweird movies. Ever. Its over for the pedo clowns.
They paid for this space and if you not letting them do their job and film the movie they won't shoot in your city again it's your loss many countries will pay money to have movies made their
Nice update on Venice. I'm sure the production and security were just trying to do their job. Nicholas is such a great guy and my favorite actor. He looks good and seems happy. Married life always agrees with him and now he has his sweet daughter too.
They should have to get a permit from YOU to film on your beach!
You make me smile!! Thank you!😊
They were filming "SEAL Team" near my house once and I was across the street and a woman from the production told me that I couldn't take pictures and if I did she was going to make me delete them! She couldn't legally do it I'm sure! It was in a public area!! 30 min earlier I was standing super close and got a bunch of pictures! lol
Seal team? That's a while ago.
How did she intend to “make yiu” delete them? Nice that you got pics

Oooh Nic Cage looking absolute fire🔥. so rad.
I wouldn't waste my time covering celebrities.
Amen
Agreed. I couldn’t care less about celebrities. I just come here for GIV!
Exactly. They’re just Biden their time. 🫶
I like your Batman goggles g.I.Like your batman car
for real forget about em just do your own thing GIV because really aggravating the Cage auditioning area is just making you look like a jerk and we know you dont MEAN any harm you just dont understand THE GRIEF and stress youre creating for all of them by "just being snoopy"
I'm very happy to see them using Venice Blvd for filming again. ❤
That cop looks like an actor, lol. He almost looks like Marlon Brandon's cousin. Even his mannerism, it's quite uncanny. 😂
An older Billy Zane
in los anagles everyone that pays to get in the actors guide. can become an actor and get paid as axtra in a film.
once you join the actors guide you fill out an application thru a casting agency.
casting agency look for extra for movie shoots, tv shoots and commercials.
if you get hired. no filming is allowed and you sign an nda agreement. which means you can not film or talk about it intil it comes out.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather watch him in a movie than Nicholas Cage..
That natural badass Cage walk 🕺
GIV standing up for citizen journalists!
Stay strong Mike! When you are on public property, you can film whatever you want, whenever. She doesn't know js when it comes to public property filming, etc. You
already got Nic Cage on video, so great job! Keep up the great work, we love the channel. 👍
BTW, one of my favorites with Nic Cage is THE ROCK with Sean Connery. That one is outstanding, Mike.
Only Elvis could carry off a pair of shades that style 😂
GIV!! I was looking for you and was hoping you'd show up. I am the Location Manager for the movie and set it up. Would have been great to meet you!! I am sorry my security guard did
not know who you are and all the great work you do!! Next time I shoot in Venice, I will message you!!
I hope you can get him in a movie. He deserves to be in a scene shot in Venice.
That must be a fun job?
❤❤❤❤❤
0:37 What an entitled rude woman similar to that maniac on the red carpet recently France - it's a public car park you have every right to film
When she wagged her hand ida told her to get back to the rezz
Funny thing is Nicholas Cage's new movie just got a huge plug with over 300k youtube subscribers on this channel and the security guard wants to run him off. The Venice Beach boardwalk should pay GIV for this video. It's the best advertisement you could possibly hope for, showing Venice Beach cleared of all the homeless camps with tourists and locals hanging out and enjoying themselves, Nicholas Cage shooting a movie. It's the ultimate tourist experience for LA visitors.
Congratulations GIV. You did a First Amendment audit
😁👍📷📱🇺🇸
Love your new sunglasses…reminds me of Batman or some type of a super hero. Love your content, watching you all the way from Philly!
Public Place, you are free to do whatever you please within the law. You are part of the Press so the good old 1st Amendment covers you 100%. Don't leave, just do your thing Mike.
Mike by now you are a you tub star of your own channel.
Famous people are humans and have feelings that need their space.
Red Rock west is a great movie with Nicholas Cage.
Thank you German from Venice, take care and God Bless you.
Gonna be on the lookout for the GIV in the background of that movie 😂
I hope they put him in the credits! 🤣
Your video actually makes me curious to see this new Nic Cage movie 😎
Greetings from Bamberg, Germany and keep up the good work Mike 😎👌
Cage never turns down a role after wasting away all his money on dinosaurs and other crazy things.
Plus bad money managers. He got taken for a long ride. Yes, now he takes any movie. I think his minimal fee is $1 million. Per movie.

Another interesting and informative video. I’m another person who would rather meet Mike the GIV than most actors. The GIV is real!
That was a very nice police officer very respectful....also handsome!
You're rather striking yourself. If you were in LA I'd definitely get you a Moscow mule 😊
Yes, he needs to be discovered by big Hollywood executive
He was very nice and friendly. I'm glad he wasn't nasty to GIV.
He was a dreamboat. A hunk.
Are you wet
Mike, it's good you always look at the bright side of life. It's good you never give up despite things slow at Venice Beach and your store closing.
Mike, I'm glad you stood your ground!!! F dat B!! The 911 callers ALWAYS imbellish calls to get the cops out when it involves filming in public. Another power hungry rent a cop! Also kudos for telling off the actor trying to direct your movement in a public space!
Do you ever wonder if that’s the actors telling the security team etc to have you stop shooting. It’s public property and saying you’re in the shot was so funny to me. Like these days they couldn’t CGI someone out. Keep up the great work never change!
Love it when you video in Venice and Santa Monica, Thanks for sharing such interesting things that are happening around town. Love the GIV!
Another awesome video Mr. GIV... Cool hanging out with Ya....😎👍 Thanks from All of Us out here in the other parts of tha USA. 🇺🇸 😁✌️, Hickory,NC
Blame all your local politicians for the lack of tourist visiting your state
Naw…😂
Or the fallout from covid...or the reaction to the homeless taking over the place for far too long, or, or or.... name your reason and 8m sure youll make it fit!
Venice Beach might not be getting tourists, but other parts of Southern California are. I recently met a family from Japan that got turned away when trying to go to Disneyland because the park had no more room. They had to make reservations to assure a spot the next day.
Blame the people who vote those politicians into office.

What do you mean, what is your right choise ?
Aww sad to see so few people at Venice Beach. I spent so much time there in the 90’s and it was so packed every weekend. Appreciate the great video GIV. Your videos always improve my day. ❤👋
About 30 feet later some dude pops out from between some trailers on the side (out of the shot) with a radio and tells me I ruined a take.😂
Oops! They should have left you in for authenticity
I was just there last week giv! Travelled from Sydney Australia and saw your store! Great day there !!
I don't know why actors feel or think that they are above us or that they are different from us when they are on the street. 😒🤔
It wasn't the actor, it was a Karen security guard.
Either way these actors can get their ass whooped just the same as anyone else on the street if they want to get salty!
We must worship the elite.
nice episode mike, crazy that the lady called the police
That security guard for the movie looks burned out with her job!
Some of those showbiz "enforcers" are the rudest people you can ever meet and I've met a few of them, most are power-hungry nobodies who think that treating people like shit make them more "powerful" and get off on it.

Thank you Mike for filming. I’ve always wanted to go back to Venice. I don’t have a good car though thank you for all your videos. I love them.
Don't these people realize being rude really kills the vibe and momentum of wanting to see the movie 🙄 These celebrities aren't all that!
Damn straight
dont they realize that all this can bring huge negative for the movie? u realize what happens if millions dollars movie crashes bcz their team broke the law? restricting public access in a public access area?
Great video Mike, thanks for posting it, even though I've never been enamored with Hollywood celebrities and their outdoor film shoot location crews, the latter of which are typically rude towards the "public" (not all of them though) -- at least that's been my experience since moving to SoCal over 50 years ago. Thanks again GiV!
just had to drop a comment to say how amazing this video was.
Your videos are always interesting keep up the amazing work 🥰
I'm not lucky since every time I go to Venice, I rarely do, sadly I never run into the GIV. I won't give up and will soon see you in person Mike aka GIV! Oh, the first time I saw and subscribed to your channel was when you hiked the hill in Calabasas for Kobe.
I've run into GIV a few times. Once I saw him riding that scooter on the Venice Beach boardwalk. Once I saw him at the Rams super bowl parade. And once I saw him at LAX when he was returning from Germany.
I LOVE your videos so much GIV.... livin' life through your eyes.. is next best thing! 💯💯💯
i would be more stoked to meet the GIV than Nicolas Cage if I'm ever lucky enough to visit venice beach.

So true! He's such a sweet, authentic guy.
Thank you Mike always great to hang out with you❤😊
Love your sunglasses! Really futuristic! And yes, you have every right to film on public property. We are in America. If the movie folks don’t want the public to film, they should go find a closed set and CGI the beach into the background, lol. Notice they willingly let the paparazzi take pics, though. Nic and the movie will probably get paid for that picture, that’s why.
This is definitely one of my favorite videos thanks! Keep up the good work Mike as a small creator from the sidelines
Just want to say hi to German in Venice
Always love watching your TH-cam channel and yes, I’m subscribed forever
If Nicolas Cage is in a movie, I will definitely go see it. As GiV says, "Now you know."
Thanks GiV, it's always awesome to see your videos. 👍👍👍
