My lens works fine nothing needs repairing but it does have dust on the inner lens in the barrel if I do a full tear down like this just to clean the glass will it need calibration afterwards

Hi and thanks for sharing this video. On my 24-105 lens, the IS unit is shifting along veritcal axis randomly. I opened the lens and the IS mechanic looks ok. In your experience could it be the IS electronics or lens main board causing this issue ? I've tried the lens on different cameras, same issue occurs.
Hi, thank you for the comment:) You should check the IS. There is a small balls inside and the whole unit depends of them. So try to dissasemble the IS and check the balls, springs and the magnets. Good luck! :)
there were 4 glass elements at the bottom excluding the top glass. can an amateur still clean the molds off if they look to be present around the 4 bottom glass elements (where the autofocus electronics are) instead of the top? should I take it to the shop if that's the case? thanks!
Hi , you can clean all the elements but for sure you will need AXIS check(resolution check) to be sure that the quality of the lens is as should be. I'm writing about this lens group 8:46. Install each of them in the same position( the dot mark should be up direction for example). Before installing the USM assembly, on the position 105 mm you will see the holes which give you access to these screws. Here is the most expensive part :) You need AXIS tool - optical fiber light source and CCTV camera , installed on the special table. Anyway , without this alignment , should cross fingers to have good resolution :) Good luck :)
Hi, I think this might be what is wrong with my lens. at 24mm, everything seems to work OK. I can stop down to take photos. 28mm, starts getting dodgy. mostly will not work. I can see aperture getting stuck if I fiddle with DOF preview button while looking inside lens. can take photos wide open at f/4, attempting to stop down usually results in ERR 01. 35mm and beyond, pretty much always ERR 01 / stuck aperture when attempting to take photos. Thoughts?
How much do you charge for this repair? Do you provide a warranty? I also notice my lens is not very sharp outside center, anything that you can do for that?

Hello can the contacts alone be replaced without the need of buying a new main pcb for it? Like does the contacts wire come off like the other wires you removed.

Venom675R the problem is the same like in the video. Need to replace the Diaphragm unit or the flex cable only. If you want we can repair it for a very reasonable price.

Anyway, if you have the spare part, after the replacement you'll need to make AXIS alignment with special tool .If not, the picture quality will be really poor. If you replace only the 2nd front glass lens (the small plastic handle for the autofocus broke), and not the lens barrel, will you need AXIS alignment?

Hello everyone, so i have a problem with my lens, it's a canon ef 24-105mm is usm, the issue that the image stabilizer keeps moving and sometimes even when it's off. I can shoot in full automatic mode unless the err 1 keeps appearing. Is it the same problem which means i have to change the diaphragm?
Canon is smart, they used two very tiny screws for the lens barrel half way the process... so I'm stuck... I just put the lens back up and just send it to canon :( even if I had that special screwdriver, I don't have the replacement part.

Hi, just if you have an ERROR 01 on your OSD is problem with the flex for diaphragm. In your case the problem is in IS :)
