    Things you need to be aware of :-
    Do not cut bracings
    Use a roof punch to start hole
    Use proper sheers to cut roof like makita DJS131Z
    That fill sheet you used should have been tucked under not leave that sharp edge on top .
    Everything else is pretty good for a DIY
    Don't rely on that foam lasting any more than 10 years , it's turns to dust and will eventually leak .
    Regard a fellow tradie .

    Thank you! This is what I had been looking for. 2 questions, can you do a video for tiled roof? Also if you need to be licensed to do this for your own home in Victoria

      Hey mate, glad to help, I am just a home diy channel and don’t have a tile roof so no video for that one sorry, however it is a similar install just a different flashing kit, as for being licensed I am not but I am an owner builder on my house, to do extension works, a plumber is meant to sign off the work (flashings) I believe. There is more info on the VBA webpage regarding BAL ratings and size of the skylight etc, so something to consider with your install, good luck

    Hi great video.. Could you please provide the model numbers for the window and flashing kit please?

      No probs, glad you liked the vid, skylight was product code C01 and the flashing kit EDW-C01 hope this helps, the Velux website has all the products and codes as well if you want a different size, I installed their smallest ones for reference

    you should never use a grinder or hot cutting tool it will ruin the paint and rust the roof from the Sparks it is a good thing that you use the nibbler tool

    This is so helpful thankyou! Do you think the final bits of tin are essential or can you do without? Cheers

      Glad it helped, the final bits of tin are more for aesthetics and you could go without, only worry might be the cut bits flapping in heavy wind if that makes sense

    Looks like a great job mate, I might give this a go myself. Bit worried as I have to cut through our VJ panel roof but it can’t be that bad. Instead of making the oversized cuts on the side sheets do you think it would be easier to cut the sheet just slightly larger and then remove for install. Would that eliminate the need to have the additional sheet’s riveted/screwed on top to finish off?

      Thanks mate, glad you liked the vid
      With the flashing Velux only offer the flashing kit I installed or a custom one the has an apron the sits right the way around the skylight on top of the roof sheet, (It wouldn’t fit in the side by side configuration) There is companies making other flashing options but not Velux that I can see. Skylights are well worth it, I have just lined the under side with hardwood VJ and looks mint 👌Good luck

    Great video. What size wood did you use for rafters

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Mate, rafters are 135mm x 45mm, the pergola I installed the skylights in is now a living room, the skylights are well worth the investment

    Is it alright to use these skylights with the 100mm insulated corrugate?

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, the skylights would be fine it’s the flashing that might be the problem, you would need to remove some of the insulation to allow room for the flashing to slide under if that makes sense

    Did you cut the corner to corner bracing strap?

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I’m building out the pergola so have braced the roof now on the inside of the rafters if that makes sense

    How do you get the custom flashing.?
    .

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate the skylights each have a corresponding flashing that you can order from Velux when you order your skylights, this was a standard flashing for a fixed skylight, pitched roof, tin roof, hope that helps

    Good work sir 👍, would it work if marked a few lines ,nice and square and use a mag77 skillsaw with a metal blade ?

    • @Homeonthetools
      @Homeonthetools  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, yeah I reckon it would work a treat with the metal cutting blade, no reason it wouldn’t work 👍🏻
