Thank you! You just solved a big Problem for me! I was testing for hours, why my Matrix didn't work correct.. Big help, thanks :)

Thank you for this video. I didn’t know how to change my matrix to use 5 ports. I haven’t tried it yet, but I will play around with it when I finish pushing all the pixels.

This was absolutely what I needed. I tried to figure this out and was unable and the manual really didn't help much. I have a 4x8 matrix that I needed 736 pixels on 3 ports... I was going to build out a spreadsheet but the export/import saved TONS of time!!!!! Thanks

Thank you!! I've been fighting this for a month! 33x21 isn't possible and I was contemplating adding to my matrix now I won't have to. Thanks again!

Great content thank you. I just received my new prop, a mega fidget spinner from Gilbert Engineering and struggled to understand how to wire this up and watching this video has helped me understand what I need to do.. Keep up the great content, it all helps!

As always making the video I need before I even knew I needed it. Great explanations! Thank you for your hard work.

Thanks for this helpful tutorial, and the many others you have posted. I tried to apply this procedure to a 42" high, 270-degree mini tree with a 20 pixel star on top, using 2 strings of 100 pixels each for both tree and star to share (simply creating a new tree doesn't allow an imbalance of pixels used per string, similar to the matrix you demonstrated). I don't think this scenario works with 3-D objects, but I could be missing something. I see you have some mini-trees with stars on your layout, I would be interested to know how you configured those.

I can not speak to 3D props, I haven't used this on a 3D model, however it may work? 3D models are quite complex. This will work exactly the same way on Tree model as it did on the matrix. If you are combining your mega tree and star into ONE PROP, then you must use a Custom Model to do so. At that point, you'll have no problem putting your mega tree and star on uneven pixel counts.

Great contents, I have a mega tree 180 degree, one port, one continues strand of 850 pixels with power injections, starts from left up to chain with a two layers star which is starts at pixel number 51- 100, then goes down the tree from pixel number 101 - 850 to cover the rest of the tree, So strip 1 up, connects to the star pixel number 51 and from pixel number 100 of the star, continues back down to strip 2 then 3 and so on to strip number 18, So any suggestion on how to make the star function separately from the rest of the strand, as in some effects strand number 1 which the first 50 pixels, it lights up apposite direction of the rest of the other strands, also in some effects the star lights up with the rest of the tree. I tried to find some settings to have it's effect without interacting with the rest of the tree strands in xLights, but couldn't find that option, unless have to unwire it and connect it to a separate port. any suggestion, thank you

If you must have them attached in the way you are explaining, then you'll need to do a custom model, and create sub models for all your strings. Then you have to sequence the tree in one group, and the star in another. It will not work like a standard tree model and will require you to play with the render style settings.
I understand you're trying to make the most out of every port on your controller. I would put the star at the end of the tree and run a data line up to the top from there. This allows you to take advantage of the native xLights tree and star models. You can use an F-amp to extend the data from the bottom of the tree up to the star.
I recommend you run another output to your star, separate from the tree. That is truly the easiest way to address the situation. Consider this, if a pixel on your star goes out, so will the rest of your tree. You'll have to drop the tree, just to get to the star, and replace the pixel.

@@PixelProDisplays Thanks so much, I thought of making a custom model while watching your video, but it's a be a bigger hassle customising this complex tree setup lol, will be easier to run the star on a separate port or using an F-amp, tomorrow will figure out which of those physical options easier 😏 Btw your tutorials videos are very educational, thanks again and happy 2022

Hello I need help, I made my first 3'x4' matrix with 306 pixels, connected to a dig quad. When I run some effect in xLight, it doesn't appear in the same way on the LEDs, it seems to be on a different scale, only part of the effect appears as if it was enlarged.

i have already sequenced my show using a matrix model but i need to do what you have just shown in this video as i have an odd split of 350 and 343. how do i add the custom prop to my sequence? do i have to copy and paste everything that was on the matrix and then add it to the custom prop in sequencer then delete the matrix?

When inside the Layout. Click on the model. then Right-click > Replace a model with this model... That will replace your current model with the new custom model and you can setup your outputs accordingly.

This almost what im trying to do, can you do this with 1000 rgb led lights (twinkly), to split the matrix with 600 on one strand and 400 on the other, I guess assign it the two different controllers from each string and control it as one in xlights, I've learned a lot in xlights watching your videos.

    • @PixelProDisplays

We don't recommend splitting 1 prop between 2 controllers and it's quite complicated. You should reorganize your outputs so it can be on the same controller.
