'Pop culture' and humour as gaeilge is the key to the rebirth of our native language and lost culture that was thrown aside for so long. Good work lads.

I’m from the Scottish highlands and am 45. In primary school we were taught our lessons in gaelic and it was just the done thing. Now it’s mostly incomers who push for their wee kids to go to a Gaelic-medium nursery or school - sad. Anyway, I’m glad there are videos like this that are using the gorgeous native language…..we might be a different country but we both share a history of being abused by the English lol.

Ionnsaich Gàidhlig , a charaid. Tha goireasan gu leòr aig an àm seo, fiù ‘s nach do thog thu do chuid foghlam tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig nuair a bha thu nad phàiste. Lorgas tu cearcallan-còmhraidh air loidhne ‘s san àitean air feadh Alba, gu h-àraidh air a’ Ghàidhealtachd. Bidh iad làn ri daoine a tha càirdeil agus cuideachail. Is minig a nì mi mearachdan leis a’ Ghàidhlig, ach bidh na daoine fileantachd gam chuidich.

Outside of the Gaeltacht - it is still spoken in Ireland, but it's not as visible as we'd like it to be. It's been coming back however in the past 10 years and continues to grow stronger. This is kind of a version made out of a fairly well known trad tune. (Can think of the tune but not the name sorry I'm shite with names) I'll write it out underneath but just in ABCs not bothered doing it in stage and uploading it.
eaag abcD EAAGA GEDE aaga bcab broll abgabD
Now the C's are natural the capitals are meant to be high notes. It's in the key of E minor.
This in itself isn't a tune it's just a nice piece they've constructed out of a tune for the sake of the song.

for all you american people out there who have no clue what this is... It's an irish group who decided to record one of their songs in their native language, and most of us are quite proud of it. So please don't give it any abuse?

We have a ban on single use plastic bags here in northern California, so my choice for a Halloween costume just got kicked to the curb.

We also have a ban on single-use plastic bags here in Ireland. That's why we make sure we use them more than once.

An feidir libh níos mó amhráin Gaeilge a dhéanamh mar is mac léann Gaelcholáiste mé agus tá méi ngrá leis an amhráin seo agus lenár dteanga ailinn duchásach. Ba mhaith liom go mbeadh feidir liom ceoil mhaith nua-aimseartha a chloisteál as Gaeilge más feidir liom, mar tá an Gaeilge i bhúr amhrain cheann dos na Gaeilge is far a chuala mé as dhaoine gan a bheith as an nGaeltacht
