I really love your pod casts. However, as the wife of a retired Public Defender (Raleigh County, West Virginia, 10th Judicial Circuit), the defense attorney can only put forth a case from what the defendant tells them. Regardless of how heinous the case is, the defense is not saying that their client is innocent. They represent what the client says. It is part of the Constitution to a "fair" trial. I totally agree this guy needed to be put away. But, regardless, the defense attorney isn't the bad guy here. I am sure if he was court appointed that he had no choice but to represent him. I write this with the utmost respect of what you ladies do. ❤
My parents best friends had 3 sons and 1 daughter. Their oldest son was knocked over and killed on his paper round when he was 10, their 2nd son took his own life and their youngest son was killed in a bike accident by an old person who should never been on the road and he left behind 6 kids the youngest being 5 and she sanf amazing grace at her daddies funeral. They are the loveliest, kindest people and have lost 3 of their children. I love them dearly they're my 2nd grandparents.
