It would have been great for Kabiyesi and these gathering of well dressed Yoruba people to use this opportunity to address the deep poverty, high levels of rituals and pervasive insecurity that is overwhelming the Yoruba. With each passing day, Yoruba lives are wasted and the foundation of Yoruba civilization is crumbling. You have to understand the challenge. That power has been taken from them since the time the British took over and brought them under a government. Yes, they can complain, but if they too much, the state govt of the party in charge can simply dethrone any of them. See what happen to Emir of Kano. Though, it's hard to dethrone an Ooni but he is expected to be very diplomatic with his opinions. It's just sad the situation we found ourselves. Yoruna need to get away from Nigeria for us to have progress and for the Obas to get back some of their powers.
