Info on the Biltmore Estate for the further curious (I'm from Asheville :D) George W. Vanderbilt and his wife Edith visited Asheville on a family trip and fell in love with the area. They decided to buy around 30,000 acres and build what was supposed to only be a summer estate, it took 5 years, and an entire community to build (Biltmore Village) The house was finished just before Christmas in 1894, the first party was held on Christmas Eve that year an event commemorated by Nicolas Kincade in a painting. The grounds were designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted, though the ground now only contain about 8,000 acres, the rest were given in trust to the state of North Carolina to form National Forest Lands. And in fact George Vanderbilt is called the father of Forestry, he built what is now called the Cradle of Forestry at the opening to the Pisgah National Forest, and trained the first Forest Service members. The house also had the first fire alarm system, and many technological advancements that were way ahead of their time. They provided a community for tradesmen and their families that still lives on to this day. The Vanderbilt's weren't just rich people, they were kind and generous. The Vanderbilt Estate is still the largest privately owned home in the U.S. Some other area notables are: St. Lawrence's Basilica, the domed roof is the largest unsupported dome in the U.S. Mt. Mitchell the tallest peak east of the Mississippi at over 6,000ft, there is also the tallest suspension footbridge at over a mile tall. :)

Technically Jam and Jelly are somewhat different things. Jelly is made with only the juice of the fruit and jam is made with everything, seeds, juice, pulp etc. Jelly tend to be smoother and Jam is chunkier. Most people over in the states buy/eat jelly more than jam I think.
However point still stands: the word they used was unfamiliar to Seamus and therefore he was confused. Same thing happened to them. I would argue though that peanut butter and jelly is much more iconic and therefore more embarassing when you don't know it.

Wine gums were originally made with alcohol, that's why they have those names on them. But they stopped making them with alcohol to appeal to the kid market :)
UK snacks tend to stick with their original names too, like digestive biscuits are called that because that was their original purpose and the name just sticks :)
The Biltmore is AMAZING. I’ve been there when I was 16..so 15 years ago! Omg I’m old..lol..my family went the day after thanksgiving..talk about busy. My favorite room had to be the “basement” where they’d have the Halloween parties just because the walls were painted..and the atrium with the glass dome in the middle of the house..hope you guys walked in the Stables that’s now a restaurant if it’s quite enough in there you can hear the horses walking on the stone floors.

I live about an hour from Asheville and have been on the Sierra Nevada and Biltmore House tours. You should go back to the Biltmore house near Christmas sometime so you can see it decked out for the holidays. Mid April-June are good times to visit the gardens there if you want to see some of the most beautiful flowerbeds in the US. Also if you ever are back in the area, I'd recommend heading to Pisgah Forest to go hiking on one of its many trails and see its many waterfalls. You might even see some white squirrels while there.
I grew up in Asheville live 30 minutes north of Asheville now. When I graduate from high school I worked at the Biltmore House for two years. I wish I'd known you were here I'd look for y'all.
Man I'm loving this home town highlight video! Well Nevada at least is in my home town of Hendersonville. Next time you're in the Hendersonville/Asheville area you should try Bold Rock they're a cider distillery in Mills River the crisp Apple is my favorite my wife likes the pear flavor. Also you should try going to the parkway in Brevard (it's all in the same general area) and go do lunch at the Pisgah Inn! The parkway and Pisgah national Forest is truly my favorite place in the world.

Once my friends teacher ate an entire orange including the peal in one bite. And no it was not a fruit with and edible peal like some have, cause the students gave him a few oranges and he just chomped down.

My sister wanted to go glamping in Lenzie once, to give an indication on how ridiculous that idea was Lenzie is less than twenty minutes walking from where we live. It takes somewhere between five and ten minutes of driving to get there, even if traffic is terrible.

I could also recommend several restaurants in Asheville, the number 1 of which is White Duck Taco.

We were at Biltmore on the 10th and it was gorgeous! We’ve had lots of rain lately so it was nice to have a pretty a day.
