😅 yeah, pretty much accurated about the energy and the summer, in case of an emergency you could buy a estación de energia portatil where you can plug your electronics, I saw one on instagram, I didn't know those existed.
Me either! This is good to know. I don't mind going to a cafe and working, but that's not always possible when I have to teach or have a meeting lol!

I can see how this can be a cost of living review but I think most of the people in the comments were expecting more detail. All in all, Im glad I stayed. I enjoyed watching you both. You video only made me what to move there sooner than planned. lol
The title of this vid is just exactly what I need to prepare a move from Medellin, Colombia. Unfortunately the content of this vid is not helpful. Except for that short shot of the bread in that bakery! i wanna know about how to find an apartment like yours, how much money does a person need for the big picture...not for coffee, prints and media lunas. Sorry, I bailed before the end.
I love your videos. I am planning to do the move myself and move to Buenos Aires in about 4 months. Is Airbnb the best option for finding an apartment (the other alternatives that I've heard of sounded a bit more complicated)?
Yay that’s exciting! We did Airbnb for about a month and then used that look at places in person to search for longer stays at a better deal!
On the Blue Market one USD can get over 1,000 pesos today. A year ago, it was about 350? Being told prices in Pesos is not helpful. Unless I look up the exchange rate for the exact date of your video in advance, I still have no idea what anything costs.

tienen q probar el mate, si se acostumbran... puede que les simplifique varias cosas. Placita con el perro, mate (yerba, termo lleno) unas galletitas para acompañar despues algun libro o musica y pueden estar horas y horas disfrutando el dia

@@chanelmeyerr jaja tranqui guardaré el secreto. Es verdad que al principio suele ser desagradable pero puede llegar a agradarte. Algunos tips pueden ser: encontrar la yerba correcta. Hay mucha variedad. Hay yerbas suaves y fuertes. He notado que a algunos extranjeros les gustan algunas yerbas que son saborizadas (limon , naranja) o tomar mate dulce agregándole edulcorante para comenzar e ir dejándolo de a poco o mate con medialunas :) . Hasta ahí llego con los tips . Saludos

Si vas a volver a probar el mate te sugiero le pongas un poco de azúcar.
Si no te gusta el azúcar porque no es muy saludable puede agregarle un poco de edulcorante líquido con stevia que es un poquito más saludable que el azúcar.
Yo tomo mis mates así, ya que la yerba es demasiado amarga.
-- y también yo tengo que comentar esto último en voz baja porque la mayoría de los argentinos lo toman amargo. 😅

Besides selling your stuff, what else did you do to prepare for moving?
We spent a lot of time looking for housing first for when we first arrived and what the prices were like long term, spent SO much time trying to understand and schedule pet related things to have them travel with us, job searching, making sure our bank info was updated to have access to cards with a longer expiration date. We also needed some new documentation and wanted to make sure we had copies incase God forbid we lose our passports, we have other forms of id! But emptying our house took the longest time 😂
I would also go to your doctor and at least have a plan to get access to your medical history if you have any.
Additionally, If you are planning on getting a visa here, getting a background check in the US while you are there will make things easier. As well as notorizing your income documents.
@@MichaelMartinTH-camDo those documents, for a lack of a better word, "expire" after a certain amount of time? If I bring a background check with me but then don't apply for a visa for six months, will it still be good?

Ok so when it comes to money, where do you change USD to pesos? I'm reading that you should exchange some at the airport because taxi drivers don't take credit cards but that the best place to get the blue dollar rate (there are like 3 exchange rates?) is from some person on the street. And that you have to check every last peso they give you to make sure they aren't counterfeit. I'm realizing that I may have to put April off until October (I figure spring, right?) because if I need that much cash, I need to save some more money. But what is the best way to handle all of that as a single woman, albeit one who speaks very good Spanish?
I’d suggest an Uber over a taxi ride from the airport. You’ll get a good rate with your credit card (look up the MEP rate), will know the price upfront, and don’t really need to speak any Spanish. I go to western Union anytime I need money and transfer money from my card online, go to the western Union, and then pick up the pesos. (Just bring your passport)
@@chanelmeyerr Which rate does Western Union use? I'm reading that maybe the blue dollar rate is best in terms of getting the most pesos.
@EsaLena1 Western Union is also pretty close to blue rate.
Sometimes it's above the blue rate. Yes lines can be brutal, but it's easy and safer compared to bringing a bunch of cash.

I wonder why you are always in Buenos Aires. I mean, it's great, but Argentina is a huge country with some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world as well as other beautiful cities and towns. Are you never going to tour the country?
We plan on doing so eventually! We had plans to go to Mar Del Plata this summer, but with our recent move we ended up spending more money than we expected. Plus we're trying to find ways to bring our pets with us if we do something
@@chanelmeyerr Hola Chanel, me encantan tus videos, no se preocupen que en caso de que puedan, la costa es mucho más linda fuera de temporada, ahora esta repletísima, en Marzo o Abril todavía tienen muy buen clima para ir, mismo en invierno tambien es muy lindo, les recomiendo Cariló o Mar de las Pampas, que son un poquito más chicas, los fines de semana, fuera de temporada abren todos los locales.
@@chanelmeyerr Would be interested to know how you travel with pets in Argentina? If we come down there, we will bring our 3 dogs with us and it makes it much harder to travel around too much. In Mexico we always hired a van with a driver (to carry us and our luggage) to drive us and our dogs from city to city. Not cheap though!
