Fabulous playing - and respect to the audio engineers - sublime sound!
The sound quality is magnificent
Beautiful. Two seriously creative people who are making great contributions to Scottish music.
These two musicians totally drift off into their own world and take us with them. Wonderful!
how has this only been seen by 1k people? this girl channels something
indeed!
Great to watch seen Aidan with Lau & got their albums but not heard of her before...
C’mon people, LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! It helps the TH-cam algorithm, and the video will then show up in more people’s suggested play list, the artists get wider attention, and may rise to a level of viewership that starts to earn them some money. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!
10k now. I love her music / playing. She has a couple of albums out now (and a lovely collaboration with a Bulgarian piper -- see on Bandcamp)
I was on her concert in Prague last year. There was only 20 people, but all of us absolutely interested. It wasn't too bad.
Je vous écoute tous les jours, votre musique ouvre l'esprit et provoque de très belles images. Merci pour ce moment de grâce !!!
So interesting, the musical connections between Ireland & Scotland; the very first tune is structured a lot like the Irish reel “The Hut in the Bog” which is a G minor tune in Ireland. I am specifically thinking of the version recorded by Liz & Yvonne Kane, from Connemara, on their album “Under the Diamond”; unless it’s from “The Well Tempered Bow”, their debut album.. This Scottish tune sounds more major & not as dark, but it has the same structure & certain phrases stand out as an influence, one way or the other.
The microphones too have drones 😀 Beautiful music!
Wow, this is such exceptional work.. the playing, the camera work, the environment, the audio engineering!! Fantastic!!
It's interesting that Beethoven, Mendelsohn and Schuman all wrote music based on these Scottish Airs, usually for Piano, Violin, Cello, Tenor and Soprano. Even though I play Fiddle, I'd love to hear a Cello in the mix.
Top class on so many levels
Great! The set list anybody, please?
Absolutely beautiful playing from both of you!
S ann a Canada a tha mi, agus tha an ceol seo gam ghiulan gu mo fhreumhan. Tapadh leat.
This is really lovely - only became aware of Brigade recently, saw a couple of interviews she's done, charming lady and wonderful artist. Like the beautiful, brilliant Julie Fowlis I think she also speaks Irish so I am a bit prejudiced!
I co-sign with the amazing sound quality here. Its very well finished. The whole production here is 100% top notch.
great pairing, transported to Skye, such a beautiful Island

at 7:30min the sun is coming through the clouds of doubt and despair :)
Is as Ceanada me, agus iompraionn on ceol seo go dti mo fhreamhacha me. Go raibh maith agat.
Im really interested in the 'double-drone' that she uses - does anyone know what this actually is? Is it a modified drone or two certain kind of drones...
On my piano it sounds like Bb and Eb in the bass, the interval of a 4th with Bb on the bottom, Eb on top, like the minor 7th and Minor 3rd of a Cm7th an Octave below middle C, then a C minor Pentatonic melody on Top. These Instruments are so Rich in Harmonics though, that the lower harmonics are mostly felt than heard: there are really an Octave of Eb below the Bb. That's from the Harmonic Series and what my measly ears can hear. The Major sounding tune at 19:07 is cranked up almost to a C & F in the Base like "Coming thru the Rye". So she must have a way to shorten the drones.
Anyone know the last tune they play starting around 18:28?
I think it’s on her album. “The reeling”
Is that a violin (fiddle) or a viola
I'd say it's an octave fiddle :)
Anyone knows the tune that starts at 7:30?
The Skylark's Ascension :)
@@orpheansprigthank you very much!!!
