Actually the Greeks copied the original Arabic, as was usual in those times. “Nebtidi Mnain el Hikaya” is an Arabic classic (I read it was written by Mohamed Abdel Wahab but I'm not sure) sung by Abdel Halim Hafez in the '60s. It’s romantic lyrics talk about how their love has stood the test of time, despite other people’s jealousy and gossip trying to tear them apart. Like many Arabic classics, the full version is quite long, about 55 minutes. Most recordings for dancers use just the first two or three sections. It has also been recorded with Greek lyrics under the title “Ta Mavra Matia Sou”. It is not a translation of the Arabic version; it has completely different lyrics and meaning.

@ semele grant. I understand your point of giving rise to one's personality. I agree with that although It's a mistake to think we don't need anyone else choreos or lessons or whatever. We can always learn sth new from somebody else or change what matters to us and incorporates in our own way and style. I think we're in life to never stop learning. I'm sure these dancers are looking simply for improvement, for a different point of view and won't repeat this choreo as their own, without personality. Best wishes

this is like the stepford wives - a professional doesn't need anyone else's choreo - and I only do free style, I teach my students free style, so no one says oh they dance like Naleya - everyone needs to express their ;personality and soul in their own style. . .!!!!!
