Wasted Youth I remember everything I remember every little thing as if it only happened yesterday I was barely seventeen, and I once killed a boy with a Fender guitar I don't remember if it was Telecaster or Stratocaster But I do remember that it had a heart of chrome, and a voice like a horny angel I don't remember if it was Telecaster or Stratocaster But I do remember that it wasn't at all easy It required the perfect combination of the right powerchords And the precise angle from which to strike! The guitar bled for about a week afterwards And the blood was, ooh, dark and rich, like wild berries The blood of the guitar was Chuck Berry red The guitar bled for about a week afterwards But it rung out beautifully And I was able to play notes that I had never even heard before So I took my guitar And I smashed it against the wall I smashed it against the floor I smashed it againt the body of a varsity cheerleader Smashed it against the hood of a car Smashed it against a 1981 Harley-Davidson The Harley howled in pain The guitar howled in heat And I ran upstairs to my parents bedroom Mommy and Daddy were sleeping quietly in the moonlight Slowly I opened the door Creeping into the shadows right up to the foot of their bed I raised the guitar high above my head And just as I was about to bring the guitar crashing down upon the center of the bed My father woke up, screaming "STOP"l "Wait a minute, stop it boy! What do you think you're doing?"l "Thats no way to treat an expensive musical instrument" And I said "Goddamn it, Daddy" "You know I love you, but you've got a hell of a lot to learn about rock 'n' roll"
I got into fist fights about how awesome this album was in Jr High. 12 year old Joe never cared, your opinion. This was art. Pure, rock and roll,. I'd die on that hill then, and again 40 years later.
My Dad played this for me in my baby years and has stuck with for the past 34 years. Sad to say my Dad has become the type of person who hates this type of music now. Such a shame. I'll carry the torch for him.
I'm not so sure about that once you love a band you always hold a special place for them in your heart or at least I always do when I stop listening to a band group or artist I'm just getting older and my tastes are changing a little bit

When I was about 14 years old, I wanted to run away from home I did not do it, but this song would have been the soundtrack for my escape Now, 27 years later, I am finally free
This song really make our travelling so much fun. The intro is absolutely dramatic, I can easily imagine a picture.. but imagine the delight of the children and shout louder gd'mt daddy, i love you but you gotta... thank you
I absolutely love this song. It immediately reminds me of my dad. This album came out when I was in junior high and the bridge is just superb. Huge fucking tone and wide open throttle. Metalheads would bash on me right now for calling it wide open throttle but is the absolute perfect tone for the part. The best part for me is something that a lot of people's ears don't notice, but as a guitarist, mine totally do. The feedback in the last measure of the first bar of that bridge is just pure fucking rock and roll that nothing but some vintage gear cranked to eleven can accomplish to be a perfect subtle nuance and I'm so glad the Jim kept it in the master. It really goes perfect with the song(s) and its(their) message. for those who don't have ears that feel these things, it's a very minscule squeal between 6:43 and 6:44 from the lead guitar and I think it was completely bad ass.
I'm seeing all these Gen Xers, whereas I'm a Gen Z who was raised on meatloaf and the 70s and 80s hits radio channel, cause that's all my momma would listen to lol

Wasted Youth
I remember everything
I remember every little thing as if it only happened yesterday
I was barely seventeen, and I once killed a boy with a Fender guitar
I don't remember if it was Telecaster or Stratocaster
But I do remember that it had a heart of chrome, and a voice like a horny angel
I don't remember if it was Telecaster or Stratocaster
But I do remember that it wasn't at all easy
It required the perfect combination of the right powerchords
And the precise angle from which to strike!
The guitar bled for about a week afterwards
And the blood was, ooh, dark and rich, like wild berries
The blood of the guitar was Chuck Berry red
The guitar bled for about a week afterwards
But it rung out beautifully
And I was able to play notes that I had never even heard before
So I took my guitar
And I smashed it against the wall
I smashed it against the floor
I smashed it againt the body of a varsity cheerleader
Smashed it against the hood of a car
Smashed it against a 1981 Harley-Davidson
The Harley howled in pain
The guitar howled in heat
And I ran upstairs to my parents bedroom
Mommy and Daddy were sleeping quietly in the moonlight
Slowly I opened the door
Creeping into the shadows right up to the foot of their bed
I raised the guitar high above my head
And just as I was about to bring the guitar crashing down upon the center of the bed
My father woke up, screaming "STOP"l
"Wait a minute, stop it boy! What do you think you're doing?"l
"Thats no way to treat an expensive musical instrument"

"You know I love you, but you've got a hell of a lot to learn about rock 'n' roll"
Has to be one of the #1 song intro's to this day..
God Bless Meatloaf. When I listen I am 15 again, and I'm 54...Kelly
Steinman is a damn lyrical genius.
Raw and unbridled rebellious youth. I grew up on this and wouldn't change a damned thing.
Everything Louder than Everything Else should never be listened to without the Wasted Youth intro, just my .02
2024 and this still rocks
This song, objects in the rear view mirror and I’ll do anything for love are my all time favorites! Two out of three ain’t bad is solid too! ❤❤❤
Not a dry eye in the house

The legend who had it both: "a wasted youth" and "a wise and productive old age"!❤
