with the first advice, you need to be careful if you don't fly to the top too late, you will crash

To kill any ship in that game i just fly at a high altitude and then over the ship and start diving towards it, since the AA of the ship can't aim straight up.
Yeah, good strategy!
If you run out of missile or bullets you can do the "kamikaze" trick and that deals high damage too.
