As Frank Zappa's Chief Recording Engineer for over 8 years I can honestly say Frank would have LOVED this version of Inca Roads and what you guys played. He was always moved and delighted when students and other musicians played one of his songs. You can see proof of that when we landed at an airport in and there was a band playing one of his compositions. He Lit up and started directing them. It is all on TH-cam.
Frank Zappa's music is the pinnacle of the School of Rock program. This has been the case since Paul Green started it. Seek out the documentary "Rock School", and you'll see his students playing the Zappanale festival, and receiving a standing ovation led by Napoleon Murphy Brock himself.
Frank's music is the absolute pinnacle of the School of Rock program, the music that all the best musicians in the program aspire to be able to play, and that has been the case since it was founded.
motorpsych0 Since the very start, Frank Zappa has been the pinnacle of the School of Rock program, the music the best musicians aspired to play. I was so happy to have been able to capture this show, featuring some kids I have known since they were nine years old.
I may be a year behind seeing this, but BRAVO! Very nice guitar solo, very faithfully Zapa-ish. Nailed it. And the bassist was killin' it, but his sound needed more emphasis on the soundboard.
Yeah I always have that problem getting enough bass out of the soundboard feed I get. It's easier in big venues but this one was tiny. Zappa has always been the pinnacle of the School of Rock program, right from the very beginning. Seek out the documentary Rock School and you'll see the original School of Rock kids playing the Zappanale festival with Napoleon Murphy Brock.
DAMN!!! That was so cool.Do they do dirty love? Now that would be funny.Actually might be a little inappropriate considering their age and the lyrics but i love the guitar solo on that song,FZ tears it up and id love to hear this kid do it.

I should add that the drums and everyone ( great xylophone! ) were excellent.

They didn't do Dirty Love, but they did a whole bunch of other Zappa songs. Frank is the pinnacle of the whole School of Rock program.
