    Another amazing refactor. Every time I watch the 'before' pages in your videos, I think, "I have a page that looks like that, what's wrong", then *BAM* I see what's wrong. I hope watching these rubs off and I can apply these things when I first build a screen instead of after

  • @reemtos

    My favourite part of Refactoring UI is the fact that there is always a consideration and reason for every feature in a design. That has helped me improve as a front-end developer and a budding UI/UX designer. Amazing stuff Steve, amazing!

    Excellent video! One design critique: The red & green flags look identical in a monochrome setting and might be hard to distinguish for those with a vision/color disability. Perhaps using a different icon for each status in addition to the color would address that?

    • @SteveSchoger
      @SteveSchoger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Great point! I completely failed to consider this. Using an icon like an exclamation for the red and a check for the green could be a great alternative.

    Another fantastic piece, VERY valuable to a dev like me who can't design at all. Question though:
    Were you not afraid that the dots used instead of the tags would resemble radio buttons?

    • @meleecraft
      @meleecraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are radio buttons, i think

    • @RiazShageer
      @RiazShageer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Well I'm not sure they are supposed to be, when doing the vid, it really was a way of highlighting the text

    • @meleecraft
      @meleecraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I share your concern, as a Designer who codes my brain imediately said: "My n word, these are not supposed to be here" - and i was like: fo sho, but this ain't our project, so just be quiet

    • @IsaiahGamers
      @IsaiahGamers 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't even look like radio buttons.

    • @SteveSchoger
      @SteveSchoger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Wasn't concerned at the time but a few people have pointed this out. I still think the dots are effective at highlighting the severity but in retrospect I would probably change the style of them so the don't have that outer lighter circle. I would just make them a small, solid colour dot. Thanks for checking out the video!
