This is when ( as a devout Christian with T O N S or trauma/problems with the modern church) the difference between God, religion, and the church are super obvious. I’m sorry you had preachers/pastors instead of mentors. The church is so flawed and I can’t stand that it gets equated with God and Christianity. The church is a terrible representation (unfortunately and in some cases, not bashing the entire church) of Jesus and God. (This isn’t to bash ANYONE whatsoever just sharing my thoughts related to this.) I had so many questions that were never answered until I took it upon myself to truly find those answers and find good mentors even if it’s just through TH-cam.

I can only imagine how obnoxious I was in Sunday School. I was homeschooled, so Sunday School was my only time to face the riptides of social interaction head on. So, naturally, I did everything I could to rise to the top. I was the teacher's pet in every grade. Bible verses? Memorized. Songs? Sung. Reward stickers? EARNED. As it turned out, I was complete buds with every adult in Sunday School and hardly ever talked to any actual children.

I am still religious and honestly my Sunday school curriculum was pretty good and actually helped me establish my own faith, which I understand is a rare experience. (I am also not Catholic so the curriculum was definitely much different than Nicole's.) But as I grew up i found other areas in my community to socialize in so I wasn't sheltered like that for very long if that's what you mean.

i just remembered that before getting confirmed we had to go to a confirmation retreat and repent for our sins and learn what being a catholic was like and all that jazz. And the lady in charge of it was very religious obviously. she got mad at us for everything and when she yelled she sounded like a little mouse. I love that you asked questions! I’m a Christian and one aspect of Jesus that helped me so much was to learn that Jesus was a teacher. He walked with His disciples for three years teaching them! Not to mention all of the sermons and parables He taught. I knew these things, but somehow it slipped my mind that part of teaching is answering questions. There's this book called "a victim to the seal of confession"(im pretty sure) its a true story about a priest who is charged with murder that he did not commit and it's really good

As a practicing Catholic I agree with your questions regarding going to confession. It’s been explained to me why the priest has the power to absolve you but it’s still a human being that’s straight up judging me for everything I’ve done wrong. Thats why I never go unless it’s not at my home church because I literally don’t know how people can still look their parish priest in the eye after admitting all their sins to him.

In scripture it says: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 Some have a theory that the length of the days of creation could as long as a 1000 of our regular days (or more) This would allow for the time gap between dinosaurs and humans:) I was watching this video because I am always curious to see others perspectives of Christianity and I have found myself wondering a lot of things about what I believe in. I have found many answers to my questions and I hope that this might help you understand how dinosaurs fit into the story of creation. I am sorry that some Christians have not been able to give you the answers that you are looking for. I believe that God holds all the knowledge that we need and he reveals what we seek with time. As a practicing Catholic I agree with your questions regarding going to confession. It’s been explained to me why the priest has the power to absolve you but it’s still a human being that’s straight up judging me for everything I’ve done wrong. Thats why I never go unless it’s not at my home church because I literally don’t know how people can still look their parish priest in the eye after admitting all their sins to him.

Here in Europe religion classes are all about questioning belief. Only through that, can you really develop an understanding of your and others' religions. Just believing is not true belief, it's fanaticism.

I once asked the head Nun of my Sunday school how dinosaurs fit into the story of creation if dinosaurs didn't exist when humans did. Needless to say I am not religious anymore
Hi!! I am a non-catholic Christian and one theory to the explanation of dinosaurs is that in the days of creation, the dinosaurs were created before humans. In scripture it says: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Some have a theory that the length of the days of creation could as long as a 1000 of our regular days (or more) This would allow for the time gap between dinosaurs and humans:)

Im in college and Im a very devout Catholic (like my dream job is to be a Catholic speaker) but the reason I wanna do it is because I had an absolute TRASH experience in Sunday school and stuff. I separately fell in love with the faith & a lot of people who teach about it say SO MANY incorrect things, it makes me so mad. (Ask me any question if you wanna too)

Im so stoked on this, as an ex Catholic I EAT THIS SHIT UP. I can definitely relate to questioning everything you're told in sunday school and stirring the pot lol. I went to Catholic school for 8 years. I remember once in religion class, who was taught by a nun btw, my friends and I brought up gay marriage and asked why it was wrong. We kept countering all her answers, so the next day she brought the priest to our class and no joke the whole class teamed up on him. After a while he broke and just said "listen kids it's just wrong and that's how it is".
