It will take a few years before most content is in AV1 and most video playback hardware such as phones and TVs have built in hardware acceleration for AV1. Most live sport is not going to be in AV1 in probably a decade because of the large amount of legacy hardware at sports stadiums and events. I'd love to watch live sports and events in AV1 with 8K resolution, 120 FPS, HDR, 12 bit colors and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling and all the other stuff that gives a great viewing experience with high image quality, but it's years away.
thanx for the video, i tried AV1, but if you dont have a powerful graphics card it will almost blow up your CPU, like mine almost did, my CPU was constantly at 100%, when x265 was around 60-80%, it also needed more time to compress AV1 will be a great codec when companies will incorporate the codec on their graphics cards, cheers mate
So what I’m gathering from the comments, and from the video, I may get some minor assistance on 1080 p live streaming, but really lowers the network upload bandwidth for live streaming at 4k? So even though YT doesn’t keep the video at av1, but instead transcodes it back to vp9, I will still have a steadier quality of stream on a marginal upload internet connection? Especially such as a cellular or dsl?
does AV1 AV2 CODEC support Faster Speed Resave intervies-movie with More data for Special scenes (alike Other-type faster scene detection, so slowing temporarily not problem)😮
This codec ist really great. I coded my videos at 1440p60 and used quantizer 40. At Q40 H264 Looks horrible but AV1 Looks like the original. This is crazy. I think file size is only 40% to H264. Also the codec is free and seems simple to decode because my mini PC with R5 5560U can Play AV-1 to 4k30 / 1440p60 and Needs 5-7W. This PC has no AV-1 Decodes. It decodes by Software.
You need to either upload 8K, or get certain amount views within 24 hour period (60,000?). Because TH-cam doesn't care if you wasted resources to upload AV1.

Thanks for sharing!
So excited about this codec. And Thanks God it seems that it will not take the path of the dirac codec. This time there's a consortium behind.

TH-camr: Talks about how good AV1 is awesome.
Video Created: VP09 and not AV1...
and yet this video using vp9 codec
