This is highly probable... Pools designed in the UK follow strict British standards where it makes electrocution impossible without some sort of deliberate tampering. However, I have seen pools in Spain and other EU countries where their pumps and rudimentary filter are actually in a sump structure, under a grate, at the lowest point in the pool. This eliminates the need for alot of plumbing and cost. Chemicals in the pool corrode electrical insulation over time, even if its designed for that environment. It requires regular checks and maintenance. It would only take a few years of improper maintenance to corrode the plastic and cause the pool to go live.
Well done Sherlock. With all special locations like a swimming pools, saunas and so on there is a must to apply extra low voltage not exceeding 25 V. And for the stuff submerged 12 V.
It can also cause instant death if the electrical breaker system is faulty...one of the reasons i never swim in a hotel pool in Thailand as there wiring is crazy.
Whilst this is obviously very tragic there is something hugely odd about this. Three people do not get into a 6ft pool one after the other and just drown. That cannot happen.
@AstroSCO Only explanation I can figure is if the girl got her hair stuck in the pump suction at the bottom, and the others drowned whilst trying to fee her.

A much higher than usual dose would bleach things or cause irritation and being open air, if incorrect dosing had happened, ie mixing of chemicals or fumes from wet tablets, for instance, fumes would dissipate quickly, so I can't see how that could be it. It's a bit odd.
Spanish safety standards have always been very low ever since I was a boy... No lifeguard in a resort pool is just ridiculous... . a lot of serious accidents happen in busy pools.

Not the lifeguards's fault that three people that CAN'T swim get into a pool at their own risk (which I guess the father signed when hiring those services).
I HATE THE COVERAGE OF THIS STORY. Tell me what happened and how it happened. This is such a tragic event and for it to go unexplained like this is not right. Looks more like an attempt to destroy the international tourism industry than journalism. Unacceptable.
MJ - absolutely right, but the inference is that the pump is insitu within the pool and it's not, so far all we have seen is the Basket which catches leaves etc. The Pump is always in a Pump Room away from the pool, that's all I'm saying. There may be a major problem between the Pump Room and pool, we will find out in the fullness of time.
It beggars belief that three people of different ages died in the same pool within minutes of each other and there are no suspicious circumstances? Presumably there will be post mortem examinations but the British and American authorities must insist on detailed investigations of the circumstances and ALL the pools at the resort should remain closed pending the outcome. Some obvious questions: 1) How deep was the pool? 2) Was it heated? 3) What temperature was the water? 4) Were those who died able to swim or not? 5) Given that there was no (requirement for a) lifeguard on duty, what emergency procedures were in place? 6) Were there any pool inflatables or other life saving equipment available? I'm sure that experts would have many more questions.

Overcome by chlorine gas issues with the pools cleaning system? Electrical fault? Such a small pool, I think one of the poor individuals would have survived if it was cold water shock, if the heated pool system ( if it had one) was not working and they got into trouble, sane is a pump grate had cine away and caused someone to be caught. It's all a bit strange to say the least.

Bernie Bernie hair tangled. I’ve seen it before. Thankfully someone managed to find scissors quick enough to cut the hair, but that might not have been the case here.
But a lifeguard can't be present in shared resorts where residents of the resorts can jump to the small pool anytime they feel it. It's just impossible. This one is NOT on the management of the resort at all.
Battle Starone / that sounds horrific, but a filter is not a Pump, a Pump is like an engine, it's fixed to lots of pipework (underground) it's not moveable, it's a serious piece of equipment.
Who got them out of the water and how? Is it true a swimmer did try to get them out and was also pulled to the centre? With 21 pools; drainage and cleansing system must be pretty powerful?

Because live electricity in the pool would've resulted in instant death. It's reported that there was struggling and attempts to rescue. It's not electricity.

I hope the British authorities get involved so that whatever is being hidden come to light and justice is served. I pray for the wife and mother.
its a 6ft deep pool, i refuse to believe a man and a 16 year old boy would drown in a pool this size, even if they could not swim they could push themselves from the bottom of the pool. Something else happened here. If they did drown then i believe they were unconscious before going into the pool. Also who saw this happening. Someone obviously saw this happen if they can say that they saw the girl drowning and then the brother jumped in and then the father. Someone must have seen this happening or else all of this is just wild speculation
A few palms will be greased so no one is made accountable for this and the cause never discovered. It's unbelievable that a grown man and a young girl and a 16 year old boy would all drown at the same time in a swimming pool of all places. Very likely an electrical fault that caused some type of paralysis and caused them to drown.
Wouldn't worry about it... British Standard for pool lights restrict the Voltage and power etc probably a 12V 200W lamp... nothing more than a wee tingle, if anything at all.

Could it be the chlorine in the pool?
Very small amount in swimming pools
A much higher than usual dose would bleach things or cause irritation and being open air, if incorrect dosing had happened, ie mixing of chemicals or fumes from wet tablets, for instance, fumes would dissipate quickly, so I can't see how that could be it. It's a bit odd.
It was checked anyway, and it was deemed ‘safe’
Spanish safety standards have always been very low ever since I was a boy... No lifeguard in a resort pool is just ridiculous... . a lot of serious accidents happen in busy pools.
NO I...just NO! I refuse to accept that 3 people died in a pool and it was all accidental. I call in a ship load of BS on this! Wtf kinda pump did that pool have?!
u could literally kick off the bottom of the pool and reach a side of the pool
3 people do not just drown in a pool. Somebody must be held accountable for f*** sake!!
Why were this family allowed to swim in this pool in December?
This is just awful , there is just no way a grown man and his 16year old son drowned in that pool and the wee sister God bless them all , someone is lying something else happened there and the British Government should investigate this. God love his wife .May they all rest in peace.💜
Well, this is old news. The Guardia civil has determined that they drowned accidentally because none of them knew how to swim...
And lifeguards...like most resorts abroad.. non existent
Not the lifeguards's fault that three people that CAN'T swim get into a pool at their own risk (which I guess the father signed when hiring those services).
@@georgezee5173 GIRL ELECTROCUTED IN POOL th-cam.com/video/CQBy6ug2EIg/w-d-xo.html
A lifeguard is only required in Spanish resorts if the pool is a certain size (200sqm I think).
What an unfortunate time of year for this to happen,Christmas will never be the same for the Wife/Mother. So sad
Sad.
I HATE THE COVERAGE OF THIS STORY. Tell me what happened and how it happened. This is such a tragic event and for it to go unexplained like this is not right. Looks more like an attempt to destroy the international tourism industry than journalism. Unacceptable.
Swimming pool pumps would be in a plant room, not in a pool
But still in contact with the water wherever located otherwise not much use as a swimming pool pump.
This does not add up, maybe an electrical charge into the water ?
Some obvious questions:
1) How deep was the pool?
2) Was it heated?
3) What temperature was the water?
4) Were those who died able to swim or not?
5) Given that there was no (requirement for a) lifeguard on duty, what emergency procedures were in place?
6) Were there any pool inflatables or other life saving equipment available?
I'm sure that experts would have many more questions.
i know pool was 6ft deep. This makes me believe more that this was not a drowning. Also the way how they are reporting this makes me believe someone saw what happened but failed to raise the alarm. Unless this is all wild speculation and no body actually knows what happened
Here an obvious answer,BLACK PEOPLE DONT SWIM
@@gimmieliberty6514 What does the colour of their skin have to do with this tragedy?
In any event, the mother has stated that all three who died could swim but that something happened that "dragged" them into the middle of the pool and caused them to get into difficulties.
@@ashscot50 most black people can't swim, not being able to swim leads to drowning.that is a fact.

This is just insane...they know the club, the pool, everything. pls someone explain how this possibly can happen.
Lack of swimming lessons.
Must have been some kind of whirlpool effect that kept them at the bottom of the pool and couldn't get to the surface.
the pool was only 6ft deep
just heard the latest on this tragic news how does 3 people drown in a swimming pool something is badly a miss here, trhe police and the hootel have said the pool was working fine not buying it something went wrong at the hotel is keeping quiet i hope the beareaved family get to the bottom of this
Tragic so so tragic whatever the cause .has to be electrical what else could take 3 people no pump is big enough
Bernie Bernie hair tangled. I’ve seen it before. Thankfully someone managed to find scissors quick enough to cut the hair, but that might not have been the case here.
@@newdawnfades263 if that was the case how do the 2 males end up dead
What's the pump got to do with it? It's in the title and the description but there's no explanation as to why!
Can swimming pools get live current ? If the lights inside the pool are not maintained or any other sort of power leaks to the water
Lights are usually 12 volt, assuming theyre sealed beam bulb type and years ago were 24volt which aren't sold anymore. LED are lower again.
Who got them out of the water and how? Is it true a swimmer did try to get them out and was also pulled to the centre? With 21 pools; drainage and cleansing system must be pretty powerful?
Oh my god😢 this is horrible
True Mik I'd say it's electrocution, no chance it's because of drowning
Sorry but it's not just a tragic accident. One person yes but not 3. There must have been some massive issue to have caused all three to drown.
Matt N yes, like not being able to swim

something seems off here a small swimming pool and three people drowned, from what I saw in the news the investigation into the pool and its safety was done really quickly too quick id say
They were electrocuted!! Why is no body saying this!!!
Makes sense now.....what the hell!!
Because live electricity in the pool would've resulted in instant death. It's reported that there was struggling and attempts to rescue. It's not electricity.
@@bobsapp3133 An intermittent fault could give a person time to enter the water and swim a short distance before being electrocuted.
@@bobsapp3133 250v = not enough for instant death per se

this lifeguard must have enormous power out of this world. It wouldn't happen if he was there. WOW! Probably his body is made of natural insulation.
God bless all the family..so awful and tragic..RIP.
I feel sorry for the mom, to lose your family is heart breaking.
Life guard that did not want to be identified, then cut straight to his face lol
Do they think we are idiots. There was obviously something wrong with the pool that the Spanish authorities or hotel owners are trying to cover up at the expense of justice for the family.
Someone must have seen this happening or else all of this is just wild speculation
dont take their word that nothing was amiss with pool.look further for cause.its there
what ever it was the spanish will cover it up just to keep the hotel open, they will know what happened,no accident
the pool reopened not 18 hours after this happened, this is typical of the hotels in spain
Why anyone would take their family on holiday to Spain at Christmas is beyond me.
liddy paul id rather be in Spain than England , I’d rather be in Somalia than England
@@genericwhitemale6089 your already in Somalia.

Wouldn't worry about it... British Standard for pool lights restrict the Voltage and power etc probably a 12V 200W lamp... nothing more than a wee tingle, if anything at all.
So many pool / pump / filtration experts here ...
I would love to know when the PH Balance was last tested.
The mother better get a thorough independent autopsy done on the three bodies. The truth will come out.

Anyone looked at chemicals in the pool?
Sodium Hypochlorite is commonly used. If this could lead to a chlorine vapour just above the water, that's pretty toxic.
The investigation showed that the pool was working “normally” not properly
I started a long thread here on Twitter yesterday about this, collating all the info. Also spoke to someone who's staying at the resort. My own view? The whole thing STINKS of a cover up.
