David, congratulations! I'm elated to hear you passed the board! Thank you so much for coming back here to let me know- it makes all the difference for me. I wish you the very best as you begin your career and hope you continue to find support, resources and inspiration to help you move forward and thrive in all your future endeavors. Many blessings to you, David! And once again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Hi David! How has life been post NBCOT? I hope it's been fantastic and that you're finding yourself content and in good health. Wishing you greater success, happiness and fulfillment as we approach 2018!! Take good care~ Love, Miri
So much more clear!! I really struggled with this and had a hard time learning all the different groups. You've really helped me understand everything so much better and I love how you use storytelling to really make this information stick. You should consider going into teaching. You are as intelligent as you are inspirational.
awww, thank you Diana! I haven't considered teaching, nor did I think of myself as one when I started this channel, but I do love the creative process involved in creating the material! For now, I am more than happy and enriched by our growing community and all the wonderful interactions I've had with people like you. I don't know where this will lead, but I do know that it's an avenue of service that has become incredibly meaningful to me and one that I would like to continue for as long as I am able. Thank you for supporting me and for your continued words of encouragement!
Miri - I dont think you have enough involvement in activities! Library, coffee wine and whiskey, rotatory club : ) Your videos are seriously amazing. I printed off the diagrams like you suggested in one of your videos and take notes on them. I can mentally picture the diagrams during the practice tests. You are such a blessing to the OT community. Also, these videos regarding groups as well as infant reflexes and a few others have been SO helpful as AOTA PDFs do not cover the topics. Okay, I am going to stop babbling, but seriously you are so fun. I think I only have 2 more of your videos to get through and I feel like I personally know you. Praying for you during your pregnancy and this next stage in life. Thank you again x 1000!
awww Lexi! I don't think you could have put a bigger smile on my face this morning!! Thank you for your very sweet and kind message. I am delighted to hear that these resources are helpful to you and hope you will continue to feel supported. I started this project a year ago with no desire other than to make free resources available to all who are striving to pass the NBCOT exam. This journey was an anxiety provoking one for me, but I promised myself that I would give back to the community if I passed. Looking back, I can honestly say that this has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding endeavors of my life due to the beautiful and meaningful connections I have been able to forge along the way. Thank you for your love, support and prayers my friend. My inspiration and gratitude comes daily from people like you.
Thank you for the sweet reply back Miri! Isn't it amazing how we can start something and have no idea the incredible places it will lead?! Exactly what happened here and I know each person walking the journey to NBCOT feels that way. I passed my exam last week and will begin at a new position shortly. I have already looked at some of your resources regarding starting a career. Thanks SOO much for all your contributions to the OTR community : )
oh congratulations on passing the board exam, Lexi!!! Oh what a day to celebrate! I'm so happy that you're using the OT career resources during this transition! Everything I have created were are things that I wish I had when I was a new grad, so hopefully you'll gain some value out of them! I would love to hear more about your job and your experiences once you've had a chance to settle in and get acclimated. I'm very happy for you and even more happy that we get to share this journey together as colleagues!!
I am using your videos to supplement the therapyEd book, and your memory tricks have been so helpful! I take the exam in two weeks, and I am feeling hopeful! Thank you Miri!
Your words are like music to my ears, Jessica! Thank you for being a part of our community. I hope you continue to feel supported in the next two weeks leading up to your exam.
Awesome channel! I test on tomorrow so I'm spending today relaxing going through your videos. Wish I would've stumbled upon them weeks ago but I'm glad I found them yesterday! Thanks for the content!!
That's wonderful to hear, Antwanette! I'm happy we connected and I hope these videos provide some last minute tips and encouragement before you test tomorrow. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way 💪💚
Antwanette!! Congratulations!! This is so exciting and I'm very happy for you! You're about to begin an incredible journey filled with stories and experiences that will move and inspire you. I hope you continue to find the support and tools you need to thrive in your workplace! ❤️ Congratulations again and thank you so much for remembering to come back here to share this WONDERFUL news with me!!
You have done it again!!!! This video was so helpful!!! I take my test on Thursday and I'm just reviewing some basic terms and relaxing for my test! Your uplifting message in your videos is really helping my confidence for this second time through! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Miri you are wonderful, thank you for the information! Your page has helped a lot! I take my exam next Monday for OTA. Exciting and scary at the same time. I feel like I have studied the information but still not feeling as confident as I want.
Hi Michelle, I'm happy to hear you've utilized my resources and have found them helpful. Thank you for leaving a comment and your feedback. The countdown to your exam date has begun and these next 7 days may feel like a roller coaster for you. But, here is something that I has really helped me before I took my exam the second time: Go into the Prometric center as if you were already an entry level practitioner. I truly believe that how we think about ourselves, our abilities and intelligence, really does affect our performance. So if you go in there uncertain and insecure, your answer choices will reflect that. Think about doctors. Do you think they know all the answers to the infinite cases of human conditions? No. But they will use their knowledge and rationale to come to what they believe is the best option, especially when decisions have to be made quickly. And that's how I would like to encourage you to approach every question. Don't be nervous, don't be scared. You are in charge, and you are the practitioner- What will you do to provide the safest, occupation-based care that is client-centered, ethical and in keeping with the philosophy of OT? You are more than capable of passing this exam. Go in there confident and don't waver. Let your passion for our profession carry you through the exam with grace and peace. I'll be thinking of you, Michelle.
CONGRATULATIONS, MICHELLE!!! You did it!! This is one of the moments you will never forget in your life so I hope you'll enjoy and savor every second of it! Welcome to the profession, dear colleague!! You are about to embark on one of the most rewarding and meaningful journey as an OTA and I wish you only the best in all your future endeavors. I will hope to meet you at one of the AOTA conferences so we can celebrate again together!!! Let's stay connected, Michelle!
So glad to hear it Caitlin! Thank you for being here and sharing your journey with me. I hope you'll continue to feel supported through every transition of your OT growth and career. I just released and launched the NBCOT Essential Guide on the OT Miri website. I hope it'll further provide you with the resources and tools to make this journey meaningful: www.otmiri.com/nbcot-exam-essentials/
You are simply great! I take my boards next month and all this info is a bit confusing to read and remember. It makes more sense after listening to your story. I like watching you videos because it gives me a clear understanding of each topic. Thank you :)
That makes me really happy to hear, Richa! I was so tired of reading and reviewing the material from the study guides and after awhile, everything just meshed together and sounded the same! I think storytelling is a great way to not only learn, but to connect with others and I am so grateful to be able to share this journey with the OT community through our shared passion! So thank you for being here and for listening to my stories, Richa!
Good morning. I’ve commented before on one of your videos. I’m sitting in the parking lot in front of school listening to your videos once again this time for my pre clinical final exam. Thank you so much for your content. 🥰
Thank you for sharing your journey with me, Caroline. I'm so happy to know that these videos are helpful to you and am grateful for our connection. Please keep in touch.
A friendship brought together over shared passion, interests and occupation is surely one to celebrate!! Thank you for being here and sharing your journey with me, Lauren!
Hi Angela! Thank you so much for connecting with me and leaving a comment. It’s always so good to hear back directly from the community and I appreciate you being here so much. ❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE these examples, especially poker which is also one of my favorite activities that has SOooo many OT implications..cant wait to hear more about it! Thank you for your dedication to our learning process we can't do it alone!!
Thanks OT Miri this is really helpful. I have an idea of what all the more immature group levels would be useful for but I can't think what client group the mature group level would be ideal for? I can think of maybe lonely people, or people with physical disabilities. But any ideas?
thank you so much miri. You keep us motivated to study nbcot.i hope you can cover all the topics needed for the exam..can you make a study outline on what topics to be followed from day 1 of the review to the last day of the review?..thanks a lot..God Bless You with your endeavor..#OTJourney. P.S. i liked your accent though..its clear and makes us asian understand much better.by d way im from Philippines..are u an asian too?
Hi Muffy, I'm happy to hear you're finding my videos helpful. I enjoy the creative process and hope to be able to make more, but it is currently something I do on the side whenever I can find time apart from my work. The purpose my channel is to share my knowledge and study strategies related to broader content areas to help build clinical reasoning so I won't be going over study plans at this time... But in terms of creating a study plan, I do feel it is most most effective when you can identify your own strengths and areas that need improvement to create an individualized plan that works for you. Every person is unique and has different learning styles so it would be helpful to first think about what kind of learner you are, identify gaps in knowledge and work to build a comprehensive and solid foundation knowledge to be able to apply them clinically using your rationale. I hope that helps! Thank you for leaving a comment and good luck preparing for your exam, Muffy!
I created a FB group as a way to share my notes prior to developing the OTmiri.com website. Now, you can assess all my videos and notes through my website!
@@MiriLee thank you so much. I feel bad because I'm taking the nbcot practice test and only getting 60%. I'm trying not to get discouraged. I'm watching your videos, studying, and trying to increase my clinical reasoning. It's sometimes hard to focus because I'm going through a horrible divorce. Thank you so much for your videos and comments. They mean so much and it's a welcome, fun distraction that doesn't feel like studying. Sometimes I feel like I study so much my brain is about to burst. I must remember why I'm doing this (to give back to those who helped me recover and help others) and who I'm doing this for (My son). Camsamidah (Thank you).
I passed the test. I watched all of your videos. Just came back to say thanks :)
