- This a bit of an anomaly review. One of you suggested I listen to Jake Kohn a young 16 year old musician who has piqued the interest of a lot of people after listening to his song "Frostbite". Before this, I hadn't heard of Jake before so let's have a listen.

West Virginia is full of musicians like Jake Kohn, we are all overlooked in the industry, but the fact is there are so many talented musicians here just not enough places to showcase these talents, thanks for playing this video Justin and giving some love to us West Virginians.
I hope for you all this young man shines a light on your area and more start to take notice. Failing that I know where to travel to come and immerse myself in quality music next time I can afford it.

I am from a small town in Norway, and have gradually found Country, into mostly artists from the Appalachia region, a lot of Kentucky music, and the last year spent most of the time on RadioWV. The share numbers of great artist are astounding. Would love to spend some time there someday, listening to the local artists before they rise to stars.

Bloody hell. Eddie Vedder meets Janis Joplin. Mind blowing
Nothing like Vedder.
Vedder doesn’t do any southern accent, on his voice.
This young guy, has some obvious influences, like John Prine, Daughtery, Ray Lamontagne and more of the clones of Vedder, who came later, whenever he loses the gruffy thing in his voice.
What’s funny, is this kid sounds a bit like the Silverchair kid, when he was 17, on SNL, and then was called a copy cat.
We were spoiled with great rock music in the first half of the 90’s, as now pop music has nearly no rock music in the mainstream charts.
@@CorbCorbin The Silverchair lad as you say for those who don't know, is Daniel Johns. And yes, I can hear that, especially since Silverchair launched with a hit when they were 16 as well.

Sheesh - what a voice, real feeling and soul in every word. I can't help but wonder what his speaking voice is like!
In this song, "Everything's gonna be alright" is just self soothing..because sometimes everything's not gonna be alright, and I like songs that realise that. P.S. I'd rather listen to this guy than the "best singer in the world" guy every time.

I had seen Jake and this song here on that RadioWV where Oliver Anthony blew up. Two other artists I heard on there that were really good are Nolan Taylor- 68 and Logan Halstead- Dark Black Coal .

Really enjoyed listening to him. Will be watching to see his progress. There's a young guitar prodigy I've been watching for a few years now. Taj Farrant is now 14 and released his single Crossroads that was #1 on iTunes blues charts. He wrote, played every instrument and sang the song. He's got an instrumental Cruz that he's releasing on 8/21. From what I've heard it sounds really great. He's easy to find info about since he has his own TH-cam channel and has performed covers of many of his favorite guitar heroes. He's best when he's just jamming to a back track. He's adopted the styles of Gary Moore, Stevie Ray Vaughan and others. I know he was the youngest player to be signed by Gibson but I believe he's now sponsored by Kiesel and Taylor guitars and of course other products. His family is moving from Australia to the US and he's doing another small tour this fall. His shows are usually sold out. He's someone to keep an on.

First thing that came to mind was that he's another anomaly that shouldn't work but just works. Good morning captain by Slint comes to mind as well, although these blokes were up to 25% older than him when they first recorded that jewel of a song which to me is still in the kids-today-range.
