  • Bob D. does it again and absolutely knocks it out of the park! This is a wonderful tape for newcomers. He explains, in his typical down-to-earth style the nature of "surrender" (a word that gets thrown around in meetings all the time). GREAT talk from one of the best AA speakers ever!
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. Help IS out there!
From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope."
Every tape is carefully selected to ensure its quality and that it is entertaining to listen to. You can trust Odomtology 12-Step Recovery Media to be synonymous with the best online recovery material out there. QUALITY is our mission. That is why we have the large and engaged following that we do. Have fun and enjoy listening to the amazing, wonderful, and powerful recovery speakers!

This talk just saved my life. I was translating this a while ago and stopped and never went back to it... and just this evening as I was feeling seperated, lonely and depressed but couldn't figure out what's happening to me... wanting to disappear and die feeling that the program has failed me - I suddenly decided to listen to this talk again and poof...I'm rethinking step 3... wanting to keep on searching for Him... yearning for a real sense of purpose. Also I finished the translation... Thank you... Mysterious power of the universe.

I was in AA for a few years and stayed sober. Then I got a job on a cruise ship... when I got the job I was told I could go to the meetings on the ship, but when I got there I was told employees are not allowed to go. I stayed sober for the first 5 month contract but I wasn't happy. I ended up way worse off then before.
I am going to go back to AA tonight. I want to get sober but I don't really like AA anymore, but I don't care I am going back! I need to do the steps again. I need a sponsor, I have to get involved. God please help me do the right things.

Easier to stay sober than it is to get sober. AA can be great! Honesty, Open-mindedness, and Willingness is how you do this, right? I find that a good home group helps quite a bit. Feel around when looking, meetings aren't all the same. Besides bad 1st impressions, Imo, I think AA gets a bad wrap from people who half-ass or simply don't work the program. Aside from Gen Pop not having a good grasp on AA in the first place, if you don't get a sponsor to work the steps, you're missing a huge part of the miracle you hear about in AA. Hope you're doing well, Bud!!

Hello corey my name is Brian and I'm definitely an alcoholic. I hope that you are doing OK and if you're still recovering until you're
recovered. If this makes any sense..I try to get to as many meetings a week if I can and when I can't make it I spend time with some of AA literature and these speaker tapes are a big help. I usually get one with some humour
Hey if I'm sober I may as well have a laugh I didn't laugh much when I was a drunk
There really wasn't much to laugh at. I will never forget the years of sadness but i don't think about the past much anymore I have a new beautiful life now and I never thought life was worth living.
Anyway stay strong and if you are doing well let us know. And keep on keeping on.

I think I'm on my way as I'm willing to slowly but surely learn. He is able to explain the AA philosophies so well and with humour, which never goes amiss. I'm so grateful that I found bobs talks

Amazing how in need you are guided to the exact thing which speaks directly to your problem...Thank you God. I'm 45 days sober, dragging my feet on working on step 4, and having just 2 days ago celebrating my first birthday at my home groups birthday night where we celebrated over 150 years of sobriety and 2 30 day birthdays.
Last night at work I felt a strange strong craving...as if there was a litteral hole in me. I prayed and resumed work. Today it's on me again and it's what is described in this talk....the self will reasserting in my life. I'm going to call my sponsor then make a meeting...I'll be there Early so I can work on my 4th step In a safe and peaceful place...I'm cleaning a rental at the moment and in the fridge is a 12 pack left behind...just staring at me.
Thankfully it just going to stay there.

    My notes of the day.
Deciding that somebody was / is sick does not have to be a condemnation or an unkind, unloving decision. It is simple wisdom. It is a way to "let go and let God" handle that person.
So I surround myself on a regular basis intimately with people who have surrendered and seriously want the 12 Steps: one step, one day at a time. . . and with those who have already been devotedly working the Steps.
Your 12 Step work will be a reflection of the five people most involved in your mental life. The essence of their wisdom, attitudes and passions matched with their activities. (The authors you read. The tapes you listen to. The music. The videos. The news channels. The phone chats, texts, emails, lunches, barbeque, evening entertainments with pals you connect with. It's all profoundly impacting your own shit. . .good or bad. Like it or not..

Been in and out of AA, jails, rehabs for 30 years. Got two DUIs in Feb after taking my prescription Xanax (which I’ve been taking for years) and blacked out for ten days. Woke up in the hospital ten days later. I remember no part of the ten days. Might be going back to jail.
My lifetime attempt to rely on God (the Christian version) has collapsed after I finally heard the truth about religion. There probably was no Jesus. Which invalidates the entire religion. Now I laugh at myself for ever trying to believe that nonsense to begin with.
Maybe I never have surrendered either. Everyone in AA has different explanations for things. People in AA agree on virtually nothing but that never stopped me from trying to do the program. Sponsors, steps, service, etc. Been to treatment centers.
I don’t see any hope anymore. AA meetings and AA people generally make me feel worse about things. And worse about myself. Because I can’t stay clean and sober.
I’m not even going to AA anymore.
I still talk to some AA friends but can’t take the meetings. I don’t really want to be the example of what not to do. I really have given up hope that AA can help me.
    I feel hopeless.
I wish I could just die. I’m tired of fighting this. I’m so tired of being tied to this disease. Of being a slave to this whole dynamic.

About 6 years in my alcoholism had convinced me that I didn't need to keep doing the very things and actions that gave me an incredible life. Stopped going to my home group stopped calling my sponsor stopped surrounding myself with other alcoholics and most importantly I stopped praying. By the grace of God I didn't die and I'm back in the fellowship and I'm back with that same sponsor and I'm not giving up my seat. Love you

Bob D. I have been in and out AA since 1989- 2019. I have allowed myself to run the show through my insecurities for all this time. you are a beacon of reality. God Bless you.

Simone, “The most satisfactory years of your existence lie ahead”. (Page 152 of the Big Book) Absolutely true! My mantra is simple, “Live in the problem, or live in the solution”. Best wishes to you!

I've never laughed so hard and so real at all the things Adam T. said that normies don't ever laugh at. His personal definition of insanity is also mine. Forever grateful Adam T.

It is baffling to me how this man and other speakers like when Sandy Beach was around... how they can talk for so long and say valuable thing after valuable thing. I could probably ramble for 15 min...lol
