  • On New Year's Eve 1985 Napalm Beach played the Satyricon club in Portland, OR. Their 60 minute set of 12 songs was recorded with a sound board cassette tape. The vocals and drums are crystal clear, but the guitars are a bit low in the mix. The setlist is remarkable for several reasons. It includes an Untouchables song, "Caveman Go," which were rarely performed live by Napalm Beach after the band's name changed in 1981; a cover of Donovan's song "Season of the Witch," when Napalm Beach rarely played covers; and possibly the first live performance ever of "My Master Calls," which would not be recorded in the studio and released until the 1993 "Curiosities" album. As befits the year, there were three songs from the 1985 "Teen Dream" cassette, but there were also a lot of songs that had not yet been recorded and released. There's also a lot of stage banter.
    The Lineup:
Chris Newman - Guitar and Vocals
    Sam Henry - Drums
Otis P. Otis (aka Paul G. Heim) - Bass
    The Tracklist:
    1. Pugsley
    2. Season of the Witch (a Donovan song from the 1966 “Sunshine Superman” album)
    3. Dr. J
    4. Caveman Go (an Untouchables song, with a long drum solo by Sam)
    5. Night Train “We hope you don’t mind if we indulge in a little Blues here.”
    6. My Master Calls “It’s your world and I’m glad to be in it.”
    7. Road to Recovery
    8. Silver Rain
    9. Pox On You “Here’s a song for Louie.”
    10. Graveyard Train
    11. No Love
    12. Down in New Orleans
    13. Somebody says, “1 minute to New Year’s, 1 minute.” “50 seconds” “45”
    14. Some guy grabs the mic and starts raving about this “hole in the wall club.”
